If he has to go (and i sincerely hope he doesn't) the club must sell and replace him BEFORE the season starts and only for something in the region of twice what we got for Vaulks,he is that valuable to us. In a club full of crocks this is a player who is never injured. Unfortunately i can see a situation where Ajayi plays the first few games,we win them all and he has been sensational. September 2 then arrives, the club panic and take whatever offer is available and then don't have time to bring in a replacement. He really is the catalyst to us coming straight back up. If he goes and the new arrivals don't measure up we could struggle.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Ajayi. I think if all our other midfielders are fit to choose from I would have him in as my first choice right centre-back, although I rate Ihiekwe who has been excellent since coming back from his loan spell. At the moment it looks like MacDonald might get the job of pulling the strings in front of a back four, but Semi's ability to slot in there if needed is a real bonus. My instinct is that he will probably go, and Warne has made it no secret that this is a real possibility. He got a few headlines last season and rightly. so. At times he was immense. I agree with Splinter that if that is going to happen it would be better for it to happen sooner rather than later so that we can get ourselves sorted.
