Talk about football. Just watched brief highlights from afar. Can't really tell much but Warney get a left sided midfielder who can be a winger. Hate seeing players cut inside all the time.
In today's Tizer Warney says Jamie Lindsay remains a target. Just looked at him on u tube he looks good but against how good a opposition I don't know. He's all right foot, a central/forward midfielder. We've got 3 of them. We need some width right & left who know how to cross a ball.
I'm beginning to think we are looking to play in a different way gwru, based on more interchanging and fluid movement. Perhaps that is why we didn't push the boat out to persuade the four now departed wingers to stay. I have seen too many so-called wingers in our colours over the years who as my old dad would say couldn't cross a pools coupon - some of them in the very recent past. That doesn't mean that we won't have width or pace and doesn't mean that we won't get crosses in, and I am sure that we will still aim to deliver good set piece delivery and be very dangerous from free kicks and corners
As I said in a different post, Sheff Utd for example went up from the Championship without having a winger in the side, but they scored plenty of goals and many of them from dangerous crosses delivered by full backs bombing on or forwards or midfielders pulling wide. Liverpool the same. None of Salah, Firminho or Mane are what you would call traditional wingers. You've made it very clear that you like to have an old fashioned winger getting whitewash on his boots, but there are other ways to play that can be just as if not effective.
We still have a signing or two to come in, and the nature of those players will give us more of a clue about how we are going to go about winning matches.
We need to sort the goalkeeping and central defending situation out. Competent keeper a must still think semi will go in the next few weeks our manager seems to be confident he will stay we shall see. Grant Ward they say he will not be fit while September to much of a risk for me look elsewhere.
