We’ve got a fee for him and money he was on can be used in other areas. Don’t see it as a big deal personally it never really worked for him here and Mattock is a better player.
Hope we can get our targets over the line the Purrington transfer has been confirmed we might have got our money back. Next to go Ajayi. (I might have spelt it right just finished doing a lap of honour around my living room). I have seen rumours Barnsley could be in for him. See what happens going forward as Oasis sang don't look back in anger

undisclosed fee for purrington if we had a good deal we wouldn't hide it, however whatever that fee is, all of it should go on 2nd bids for the lads at southend and ross county. Big mistake this, the lad is proven at league 1, he is young and Warnes best mate mattock REFUSES to sign a new deal. The OUT list is a lot bigger than the IN list
there seem to be a lot of players that didn't want to stay or sign new contracts..............but we still think this story of great lads loving the manager, it doesn't add up
the contract talks on on hold until mattock and his agent see if a better offer comes in, nothing to do with looking at the other areas of the squad, do not be so rose tinted in your views
Whether mattock is better or not (by the way purrington has proven himself to be a good player), we now only have a junior as cover, other cover means moving players out of position, never a sustainable answer. Also based on the fact we have refused to disclose the amount it looks like we have lost out on the deal.
lastly it makes a huge difference the relationship between manager and player, if you do not think personal relationships have nothing to do with footballing decisions then you do not understand people at all. Let us remember warne talks about "good humans" and mattock got into a lot of trouble over an violent incident with a woman and man, he may have actually of been found guilty of the offence, i do not have the court report to confirm this. So clearly there is one rule for some players that do not apply to others, this is the same in all clubs and i am not saying it is wrong, but to say it doesn't happen shows a complete lack of common sense and intelligence.
The real issue here is the lack of players coming in, that some of the new players have very poor fitness records as GWRU points out.
6 players let go, 4 refusing contracts, 3 loans gone back, 2 sold, 1 on loan = 16 players OUT
1 kid for the future (warnes words), 3 signings = 4 IN
£2.1m In for Vaulks, Purrington at least £100k = £2.2m assume 20% to old clubs so NET = £1.76m
£500k spent
we are walking away from deals for £50k for the lad at Ross County, or £200k for the lad at Southend
That is the situation as we stand let us hope we get some deals over the line in the next 10 days otherwise we will have a lot of gaps or new players coming into the club very late in the pre-season sessions, which I will remind you is not what Warne was planning
No rose tinted for me just calling it now I see it.
The point about disclosing transfers, it’s not just a Rotherham United thing to do. It happens at every single football club up and down the country. I’d guess we got 150k for him although we did pay 300 for him (which was far too much) he’s a solid enough player and I wish him well though, sometimes it just doesn't really fit or work at a particular club.
You are right about the two transfers we’ve walked away from, ive said it before we don’t often make cash bids so we must really rate them. On the flip side we’ve also broken our transfer record, it’s about time we spent money Warne can’t always be expected to rely on loans and free transfers.
As you said let’s see over the next ten days I don’t see the need for mass panic tbh but that’s just me.
Just seen about signing of Dan Barlaser from Newcastle on a season long loan midfielder. This looks a very good player for us starting to look as though we are going to have a competitive squad for div 1 .I bet he wasn't going to sign for Sunderland. All I have wanted to do is to start winning again. I might even give you a chorus of Danny boy but my singing is worse than my spelling.
hope it is true, but another loan last year only one out of 4 loans worked well for us
Barlaser was excellent for Accy last season & was almost an ever present in John Coleman's side. I would describe him as a Smallwood/ Potter type of holding CM but much younger & far more agile. Looking forward to seeing the lad play.

Same here. Smallwood was good 5 yrs ago but now? Potter never liked him for us but must have been decent at our level at one time. Welcome Dan.
