Heard John Ryan is fronting a group of wealthy foreign investors who are looking to buy and develop a football club. Don't think Tony will sell though. The opportunity was there last season.
The Guest and Chrimes building is key to attracting outside investment. Demolish, remove and then develop the site. The latter is an eyesore and a blot on the landscape. There has been talk of developing Forge Island further down and on the opposite side of the River Don. That's all it's been, just talk and some planner's artwork to add to the dream.
The town needs the Forge Island project to happen and so does the football club. Developing the G&C site will be a much more attractive proposition with other leisure activity a stones throw away. I agree with you though Wotsisname.
Commercial revenue all year round from non-football activities would give us the solid foundation on which to build a bigger better club. I also agree with what you said in an earlier post about the distinct lack of information and communication that we get from the club about their plans for the site, retail units at the ground and so on. We've been there for a good few years now and there hasn't really been any real visible progress. That might to some extent be due to factors beyond our control but it's clearly holding us back.
