Doncaster Rovers are the frontrunners to sign Rotherham United midfielder Joe Newell.
The 26-year-old is out of contract at the New York Stadium this summer and has been offered fresh terms by the Millers.
Newell – who is currently on holiday – has been given a deadline of close of business on Friday to inform Rotherham whether he intends to stay with Paul Warne’s side, for whom he has made 150 appearances, scoring 15 goals since joining in 2015.
Perhaps we could throw Newell plus some money into the pot and maybe land John Marquis from Donny?
All the other talk about bringing in players past their prime does not cut the mustard.
I'm off bog snorkelling tomorrow. It's all as clear as mud to me.
The club started taking a lot of horlicks regarding the likes of Adeyemi and Ward so I decided to add my own off the wall comment about bringing in Marquis in exchange for Newell and some cash. Bog snorkelling went well. It was cold, wet, fun and not for the fainthearted though I think I'll stick to mountain climbing in Suffolk.

Warney will give them as long as it takes. He is mates with all of the players. They might even be in next season's squad. He never can say, 'Goodbye'.
Newell is officially leaving - will not be renewing his contract. I'm more frustrated than disappointed that he's going. Frustrated because he has so much ability but rarely seemed that interested in using it. The Championship was a step too far for him. He found defenders much more difficult to get around and he appeared to lose his confidence resulting in him rarely trying to beat a man. My best memory of him is reflected in the photograph on the official site after he'd just scored against Scunny in the play-off semi. Good luck to him. He'll need to pull his finger out wherever he ends up.
Don't think he realised his potential did he, and I find it bizarre he can't last 90 minutes. Good look Joe wherever you go, and thanks - he did give it his best
Yep. Some great games but overall perhaps not too disappointing that he has moved on. We saw the best of him and it wasn't consistent and perhaps we can replace him.
All in all enjoyed watching him but for his rather laboured chasing.
More interested who we sign next notice only Towell has got himself a club so far still think they are all after 3 year contracts next up Vaulks and Ajahi to go I can see Forde signing by Friday.
When I pay my money to watch football I like to see players doing things that I (someone who played to a half-decent non-league standard but was never good enough to get near professional football) could never do. Joe Newell is a player who can produce that bit of magic, skill or technique or whatever it might be that ticks that box. For that reason I am sort of sad that he is leaving, but I think my overriding feeling is a bit like GlennMiller's, which is a sense of frustration that he can't quite deliver more consistently and realise his obvious potential. He has delivered some great moments and I hope he does really well wherever he goes, but it is probably the right time for him to move on and the right time for us to have a go with some fresh blood.
Pretty illogical conclusion IMO. Not a regular last season which would be frustrating for any player. He probably does feel as though he doesn't quite fit into Warne's style of play & at this stage in his career needs to play more, simple as that.
As for him "hating Rotherham & NYS" just ??? Where has that come from? He's been a good player for us for four years & provided we fans with some good memories so why can't we just wish the lad well?
I'd give Newell 3 out of 10 while he's been here. Pringle before him 6 out 10. Williams 5 out of 10. Taylor 4 out of 10. Forde 2 out of 10.
Which shows you what sort of "fans" we sometimes have to endure on here, just the sort that can't understand why we didn't spend £15m just to stay in the Championship, google Bolton Wanderers & Bury pal.
I take it you're joking Ian. He is bound to say nice things about his new employer. I wouldn't take that as criticism of us. It is a bigger city, they do get bigger crowds and have a bigger stadium. They were presumably prepared to offer him more money than we thought he was worth. No hard feelings and good luck. I will be interested to see how he gets on. The standard of football is no better than lower Championship quality unless Celtic are involved. It is an interesting move for him and I can see why he would go there.
Warnock a proper manager wouldn't play Newell. I'm a real fan into my 54th season. They are pleading with us to buy season tickets which I have not just while we've been at the New York but we have now Warney as funny as piles with Scotty trying to tell us recruitment works. We know you put x amount we are willing to pay & end up getting relegated. Tell me different.
