Where did you see that TH?

Good if true (in terms of getting decent money for a change)

according to one source we offered 150k and they want 200k, if true, it's this sort of deal we need to be closing out and not penny pinching or we'll end up with left over dregs... (again).  IF we have really been offered £3M for vaulks the £50k diff for this lad would be **** all...

... and ok, we don't have the facts to read ... BUT... if true, this is the sort of thing that creates interests from other clubs, just like in previous years... (someone thinks - wow , that's cheap, we'll get him for £300k and blow RUFC away)

We need to learn how to negotiate and close a deal.... we should have an open discussion with a view to closing the deal at the first attempt... e.g. we should have said, we want your guy, we offer £150k, and if they say no, keep the deal open there and then and get them to say what they want. Our guy (whoever) should be armed with a budget (without needing approval within the budget) to work within, say up to £250k in this case, and have said - ok - if we go to £200k, we want to close the deal now and also attempt to keep their gob shut etc etc....

When negotiating you need to keep at it until it's done and not just walk away and wait... it really ****ing frustrates me....

...and I don't buy it's because we can't.. these agents are not super human, we should be as good as them and get our deals done....

That would be lovely, but it might not be realistic. Someone has fed that story to the media. It could be us (to show supporters we have tried), the other club (to get a bidding war going) or the player or his agent (to drum up a better deal). I'm not sure how you avoid that happening when there are several parties and agents involved. Sad but true I'm afraid. I was speaking this week to someone recently involved in a free transfer between two part time lower league Scottish clubs and even at that level getting that deal done was like pulling teeth.

I imagine as the seller you aint going to be anything but as awkward as can be.

what can one say other than look at the level we are at. 200K for a player of that quality is a decent price to pay us. Its actually on the upper end historically.

I'm totally frustrated at about rivals signing what could be decent players been released by premier teams. We have released 5 and 4 refused to resign unless Forde signs Yes it's early yet. But the evidence is there Barker says we have targets and we are talking to them Stewart says there is no limit on the budget =*$&$€=^×2£ To that comment And Warne wants to know there human side ffs they are footballers in a contact sport We will end up with a squad worse that we had and will have sold smudge ajayi and vaulks

£50k is f all whether we get £3m for vaulks or not, if we lose this lad for £50k then I am afraid TS will have a lot to explain to the fans, because he is not saying anywhere that we are skint or that we will not support PW in the transfer market.

It would be smart to bid on a goal scorer and a good goalkeeper (not a kid!!!) before we sell Vaulks, because as soon as we sell him for £3m or more all the prices to us go up

…Totally agree Derby, signs so far are not good in terms of us a) learning from the past or b) having anyone at the club who is a proper negotiator and deal maker....

I hope I/We are wrong and we sell for good money and get some decent players in, but nothing so far points to any change from the past 5 or 6 disastrous transfer windows...

Come on RUFC, give us something to believe in!!!

MM: Zak Vyner. He's no Right back. We didn't have a championship Right back all last season one of the reasons we went down. Be worse at Centre back, just hasn't got it to play there, not that good in the air + no positional sense.

I don't see many deals being done by many clubs. We have got two in and seem to be close to a third.

I imagine that whatever we offered for this lad in Scotland, his club were always going to come back and ask for a bit more, If we had started at £200K they would probably be asking for £250K.

At the end of the day, there comes a point at which you have to say that a player isn't worth any more. There always has to be a red line somewhere. If we think he is still good value at £200K I'm sure we will go back with it.

I'm concerned about the lack of activity too but I must say I am getting a little tired reading the crass unjustified negativity from two posters in particular. IF we are still in the same boat in mid-August maybe you have a point & will have been proved right but until then kindly shut up.

I welcome everyone's opinion on this site the more the merrier nearly lost it a few months ago use it. I want to go into next season thinking we might do ok what is wrong with that the problem is everything is bit negative players gone some still to go one or 2 having a dig at the club. Can anybody say it was a great season for us in the Championship last time we were just to timid. We have had few good hard players over the years Branston Swailes to name a few remember the late great Gerry Gow now there was a hard player first match for us broke a players leg sent off I was one of the fans who likeď to see him play might be me seemed a lot more fun in those days.
