I reckon we have the strongest squad that has started a season for the past 4 campaigns. There's some real quality in there and our main problem is going to be gelling as a team. It might happen immediately or it may take a month a so. Whatever, I'm happy that PW and Co have had a great transfer window - both ins and outs, and I'm confident that we'll have an enjoyable and hopefully, successful season. Our greatest dangers are being too successful and flirting with promotion and someone coming in for Warne!
Agree about the strength of the squad. We need to stick our chests out this season and not cower at the opposition like we did at times in the championship.
We’ve a front three as good as any, let’s go for it!
I agree with the last few posts. As fans we cry out for our team to play attacking entertaining football. Last season it was difficult because we were (frankly) up against better teams with better players most weeks. Going into this season we are making no secret of how we intend to play. We have an array of talented players in midfield and big, powerful, mobile forwards three of whom will be starting. It's an exciting prospect. It may take time to gel but if we click we will be difficult to play against and should be well worth watching.
I agree on one thing it's been the best transfer window in years especially players who've left who were surplus. I would say chances of success are high this season though I'd like to go up with a formation that would work in the championship. I'm looking forward to the development of Wiles just hope he gets enough games. Also hope Hinds makes the breakthrough. Cooper looks like he could make it. Don't think it's that imaginative playing 3 up front, but this league isn't the strongest so see if it works. I see failure as not getting automatic promotion.
Hopefully, any club would take you rather than Paul Warne to spare us from the daily repetitive tedium of your rantings. I will repeat myself for once. You know absolutely nothing about football.
TC see whose right. Most on here think Warney is the new messiah! He's a lucky boy. Tony Stewart he's had enough of the likes of Redfearn, Stubbs & Jackett. Be able to tell if playing 3 up front works before this transfer window closes.
Pául Warne this comming season it will be his 3rd full season in charge the jury for me is well and truly out after last season's inept desplays. I know some of you on thinks he walks on water but some one has to take resposibiĺity for the load of tripe we had tò endure.
This season he is going to play 433 has he got the players to do it wait and see. I agree with gwru no width in the team and no doubt teams will suss us òut. If you don't think that you are living in dreamland. I know they were only friendlies but crossing none existant. We might have to go route 1 now there is no Vaulks for throw ins our new goalie has some kick on him. I bet Wiles dosn't start on Saturday easily our best player. Ì am trying to be positive for the new season I have learned bý watching the millers over many years not to build your hopes up to high.
Every manager he's got his favourites or in Warney's case players he hasn't got the balls to drop. Take last few months of last season crazy decision to play Forde & Taylor before Williams. No wonder the latter couldn't wait to leave. I won't rest safe in my bed till Forde & Taylor find clubs cause it isn't beyond the realms of possibility Warney bringing one of them back. Then Warney always gives an old crock two years extra wages. Potter then Jones now Macdonald. Add on to that list Wood. I'll be surprised if Wiles starts against Wimbledon. I'm not saying start Wiles every game cause a young players form will ebb & flow but he put the most impressive performance of a midfielder over those two home friendly's also he can get to the right & cross a ball. Side Warney puts out at Wimbledon I'll be surprised if we don't win. Be harder against Lincoln at home following game & against the better sides in this league.
It's difficult to respond to the last two posts in a rational way. TH - what particular tripe did you have to endure last season? For genuine fans it's not all about winning. A campaign in which you are odds on to fail and in which you almost prove all the doubters wrong, can be just as rewarding as winning the league - especially when the players bust a gut every week in that pursuit. Tripe suggests poor, inept football. Last season was so far removed from that - imo!
gwru - the disdain in which you hold Paul Warne is embarrassing and is based wholly on the fantasies conjured up in your head that he has favourites who he prefers to play ahead of his best team or that he will bring in his old mates for a couple of year's of invalid pay. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but when you make such outlandish statements, be prepared for people to question your motives unless you back up your assertions with facts.
Glen Miller I don't dislike Warney. I also know it's hard to keep players onside. See how the season goes but sides against us aren't just going to chuck the towel in.
I thought last season was poor away from home if we crossed the half way line we got a nose bleed. I hope things improve this season everyone is entitled to there own opinions this is mìne.
You are correct everybody is entitled to their opinion TH. How many away games did you go to ? I went to quite a few and i do not share your assessment of how we played away from home.
I can't make it to away game health problems knackered my self up working to hard I can't do the standing up. I have the red button on Sky. To be honest spent most of my time hiding behind the sofa there was only the Hull game where we had a go at the opposition and we had to go 2-0 down before we started to play. If our away record was a bit better we would have stopped up.
whiston01 I only watched about 4 away games on the red button. We were bad enough at home. All season we were a right back & left winger + midfielder short of a side good enough for the championship. Also Warney kept playing Forde or Taylor.
I certainly don't go to away games to get tanked up and cause havoc. I would only have a drink after the game has finished. As for only the Hull game we had a go at the opposition, i would add these as well from what i saw. Brentford, the first match of the season we played 4.4.2 and were well beaten but did try to attack. Just not good enough on the day. Birmingham, Preston,Blackburn,Norwich,Sheff Weds, Q.P.R., Stoke,Swansea and W.B.A. all saw us having a go at teams away from home. If you said we lacked other teams quality i would agree but to say we had a nose bleed when we got past the half way line i would disagree with.
Where's new centre back? Wood? if needed. Looking at fit for match day squad against Wimbledon looks lobsided. Two keepers 1 right back 3 centre backs 1 left back 5 midfielders 5 strikers + Hinds. Thoughts.
