Portsmouth were beaten in the League One play-off semi-final, 1-0 on aggregate after sharing a 0-0 draw at Fratton Park.
It’s the second year Kenny Jackett has failed to get them promoted and he’s bearing some of their anger on social media, with some calls for him to go and take his negative football with him.
The game was never a pretty affair and one unsavoury moment is sure to have severe repercussions for the home side.
Luke O’Nien tussled for the ball and ended up tumbling into the stands. As he tried to get to his feet, he was seemingly 'kicked' three or four times by a supporter.
The incident was caught on camera and has led to instant condemnation.
Another report alleges that in the same incident 'Sunderland defender Luke O'Nien was "punched" by a Portsmouth supporter'.
The incident, which happened after O'Nien tumbled over the advertising hoardings chasing the ball, led to a fan being escorted from the stand.
After the game, O'Nien played it down as "just a bit of handbags".
Sunderland will play either Charlton or Doncaster in the final. More drama tonight?

Thought Portsmouth were shocking in both legs, Sunderland weren't much better. Hope Jackett stays long enough to sign Towell, I don't want him back. He can have Smallwood as well.
