Football aside. I'm thinking about the number of people who will run out on to the pitch after the final whistle is blown next Sunday? Will it be in the hundreds or maybe in the thousands? Who is able to count the numbers? Does anyone care?
We are reminded over the PA system that to enter the field of play is an offence. Therefore, I'm not advocating that people should run, walk or even stagger on to the pitch at any time, before, during or after the game is over. Nevertheless I'm guessing there will be at least 3000 out there on the pitch at full-time time.
As for the result of the game? How can we hope to beat a Championship team, Middlesbrough? We are now defined as a League 1 side.
According to 'Tiser 'there are concerns over midfielder Will Vaulks (sprained ankle), winger Jon Taylor (sore knee) and centre-half Michael Ihiekwe (sore heel)'.
'Striker Yates has had mumps and Marek Rodak is showing similar symptoms. Yates is definitely out and Rodak is a doubt'.
I'm still sticking with my original prediction of 3-1 to the 'Boro.
Unless of course Warney has taken to playing mind games so late in the season?
If we don't use this site we may lose it. It's a bit like following the Millers. If we don't support 'em anything could happen. That just wouldn't be good at all.
Hope Rodak is ok to play. Price another baffling decision to bring him back after being released. I'm looking forward to August, see changes to the squad. Hope we can keep most of our better players. Be a long summer. Don't mind test cricket. French, Wimbledon tennis also. Keep a eye on summer NH horseracing, usually 2nd Saturday in October at Chepstow when the season moves up a gear.
Prediction? Much of the same I'm afraid and I'm not being sarcastic when I say that, it's what the budget dictates; we are what we are. What I would like to see is more of a youth policy, seeing more home grown talent coming through; expensive? maybe, but surely not as expensive as chucking money like a man with no arms, at injury prone has beens year in year out.
Ì hope we can get a win tomorrow just to give us something to cheer. Predicting Warney will be manager next season not my choice but nothing I have read and heard seems to say anything else. Ì have not enjoyed the football at all this season we have been very poor if any player wants to go they can as I have said before we have just got to hope Scotty and Trotter can do some business looking forward to the check a trade trophy can't wait.
I'm looking forward to next season. We won't be punching above our weight and we'll be well shot of the Championship. When we have lost a match I've had a good moan for sure. The players have done their utmost to win games. However, if we lose a game many of us take it on the chin. We can live with most of whatever is thrown at us during a game. Poor match officials, opposition players who should have tried to enrol at RADA, and failed. We are resilient. We are Rotherham. We can rebuild.
UTM!
I predict that TH Miller would not be happy if we signed the Barcelona first team. We have a club that has around 7000 supporters that has watched a team playing a division above their abilities, put up valiant performances home and away and been in the mix until the second last game of the season. Lets get rid of the lot of the slackers and get Scott and co build a team to take us back up at the first go. Get Real. This season we have rubbed shoulders with clubs like Norwich, W.B.A, Villa, Derby, Middlesbrough and Stoke who have all had the added parachute money. Add to those big clubs like the two sheffields, Leeds, Forest etc ,etc. Yet all some want to do is criticise Warney and the lads who not only have they given us everything, they also add a great deal to the Rotherham community.
Today we play a side who are pushing for the play offs in Middlesbrough. Another pasting beckons surely. a big club with all to play for against a set of rubbish no hopers. Funny how this big club has scored less than the waste of space millers. I predict ' Boro' will come with a tight approach and if they don't score early will look to take it deep into the second half before they take the handbrake off. I will go for one of three results 0- 0 , 1-0 or 0-1. . Then we can finish this rubbish season and get rid of the manager and the slackers he signed.
To all the proper supporters i hope you give a standing ovation to the players and management team. They deserve it for the magnificent effort they have put in. W.B.A supporters clapped us off the pitch last week so at least somebody appreciated the effort made. UTM
whiston01, you've got me in a flat spin. I've just put my Millers shirt in the wash. Just to smarten it up mind. I thought I'd lost a day when I read your post, a good read, very pertinent, and that we are playing 'Boro today.
whiston01 been a proper supporter a long time, over 50 yrs. Going tomorrow as I always do home games but won't be stopping till the end. How can you celebrate failure. Nobody will convince me if Evans was still here in our position in January he would have got two loan players in to keep us up. A left winger definitely, a Frecks type midfielder. No point using a loan up on a striker when we only play one up front + Smudger he's been one of best players all season. Hope retained list freshens it up, no failures from this season. Be last season after tomorrow.
I do believe you are a proper supporter gwru as all are on here. We all have different ideas/views on how the millers have done and will do in the future.
As for Steve Evans. He took over as Peterbrough manager in Feb 2018 with all guns blazing saying how he would get them up possibly at the expense of us. They finished ninth and we got up via play offs after finishing fourth. So not so sure he would have done anything with us with our budget as i would also doubt Warnock and Jackett would have. They didn't fancy at all.
Here is why i think Evans is a s**T Ho**E. Nardiello was playing for Rotherham and in my opinion was giving his best. Evans thought he was a shirker and not fit enough, so he told Nardiello to get extra swimming in at Hellaby Hall. Evans didn't believe Nardiello's fitness was improving and questioned whether he was doing the swimming. Nardilello assured him he was doing the swimming. Evans didn't trust Nardiello so went to Hellaby Hall to check him out. There he was ploughing out the lengths of the bath. Evans rewarded him by getting rid of him to Bury with a ringing in his ears and told him he was useless. Evans is ok where his team are a big fish in a little pool. When you have to work hard with limited resources he will fall short and upset everybody around him. Ask Terry Stewart(Tony's twin). what he thinks of Evo.
I am with gwru the football under Evans was more fun ok he did cause a lot of friction probably not scared to speak his mind It was more enjoyable to go to games we know what is going to happen tomorrow 1st half pretty even then they will up there game and blast us out of the water. We have got to improve the recruitment or else midtable at best all I want to see is a bit of hope for next season. The thing I can't understand nobody seems to have taken any responsibility for our relegation everybody keeps hugging each other when they should be hugging a P45.
