Win league 1 next year, you are having a laugh . Best players leaving, warne mates as coaches, money from sales taken to pay owners there money back and a manger with two relegation on his 3 year old cv with no tactical nounce......god help us. On a brighter note at least he looks a bit like pep
What has happened to this forum? Where have all the sensible people gone? Decent quality footballers aren't going to want to come to a struggling club fighting relegation Regardless of budget. We have fought hard, come up short so it's time to regroup, take our medicine & recruit a lot lot better. TS should keep his mouth shut regarding finances, well at least stop lying, Warne should stay but some of his mates on the playing staff have definitely had their day & have been found wanting. In short we cannot be a sustainable 2nd tier side with 9000 gates & shopping at the Footballing equivelent of Pound land, simple facts.
I'm not expecting miracles but how did Evans & Warnock keep us up? If we've got no money why waste it on giving contracts to Wood & Proctor, no hopers like Bray & Manny. Remember that old saying if you look after the pennies the pounds will look after themselves.
Has Mr Vaulks played his last game limped off in the 2nd half I think it is time to move on very fast hope we can do a few decent deals for a change last season was a waste of time we need a few signings to get us a bit exited for the new season. Best thing Rotherham players can do tonight is 10 pints then bed.
I agree with New Yorkshire 100%. Some of the claims TS makes about our ambitions are ridiculous. I wish he wouldn't do it. That is all I can fault him for. As NY and Brad say, we just can not compete effectively in this division. If things go well for us we might just finish fourth bottom. This season we have fallen one place short despite a tremendous effort.
On the game today, we played some of our best football of the season in the first half. We were comfortably the better side and were unlucky to hit the crossbar after half an hour or so. We deserved our lead when it came. Rodak had very little to do until twenty minutes to go when they got their penalty. It was at the wrong end of the ground for me to see clearly. It looked very soft but the ref couldn't wait to give it. He gave us nothing all day. He booked our players for next to nothing, but a WBA player would have had to commit GBH to get one. Vaulks was taken out late by a high tackle injuring him so he had to go off, and still nothing. Their keeper kicked the ball to the corner flag to waste time when they had a goal kick, and the ref ran fifty yards to put his arm round him and share a laugh but no more. Pathetic. Their second goal was a top strike to be fair. then we hit the bar again in added time.
In many ways I have enjoyed our efforts and performances this seaon and have enjoyed visiting some great old clubs and fabulous grounds. I am proud of how we have competed and conducted ourselves. I was very proud of the following today and the reception the players and staff got at the final whistle. In some respects though I am relieved to be going down. There are a few things about The Championship that I really will not miss at all. In no particular order:-
1. The huge disparity that exists between us and the 'big clubs', who have a financial advantage to start with but which is skewed further by TV money, parachute payments and massive overspending by clubs who blatantly breach the rules chasing the dream. It leaves us with very little chance. Thats the truth of it.
2. Cheating prima donna players who throw themselves around, get in the refs ear and get away with it.
3. Refs who clearly start with the preconception that we are likely to be dirty and that other clubs need protection from us, who have watched Michael Smith get beaten up week after week and give us the 5hitty end of the stick more often than not.
4. The constant whinging drivel from a minority of supporters who for some reason seem to be completely divirced from reality.
I'm looking forward to next season already. A great effort from all concerned today and all season. We won't need to sell anybody unless it is for really good money. We can definitely improve in some areas, but we have the basis of what will be a strong squad in League One where we should be very competitive and where we might get an even break every now and again.
Quite glad to be out of this league for another 12 months tbh. It’s completley bent and dominated by ex big clubs cheating there way through the season on and off the pitch.
Roll on next season, we will be ok and I guarantee we all enjoy much more than this season despite the players and managers best efforts against the odds and by odds I mean money.
Yep agreed...the Champ is not a nice place to be is it...or it's not as it was before parachute payments started. Getting promotion is hard enough to bridge the gap withouth that...in fact its so wrong the FA should find it in breach of 'spirit of the game', and the league should rule against it as it skews the competition. However both receive so much lovely money from the PL somehow I think they're happy to swallow it.
Unless we're getting 16k a week inside NYS and earning some lovely mullah from the units / stadium for events / surounding area etc....lets just not go there until we're anywhere near this.
But I will say from a coaches point of view myself and as a referee of how we conduct ourselves, and being far removed from Rovrum to be able to remove my rose tinted spectacles, under Warney we can be utterly proud of what Rotherham United now means to the footballing world compared when Evans was there. If the town don't back the club then how on earth can the board reach higher...and on that...I hope any outbursts from the hierarchy are actually tangible because too many times in the past statements have been utterly embarassing.
On to L1 and I must say in much better shape than we were last time and we should fear nobody including Bolton & Ipswich / those who fail in the play offs.
Not for the first time, i think what i'd like to post on here and realise i don't need to bother as Smiler has already said it for me. I share your appreciation for our efforts and your distain for the championship.
I'd also like to share a quote from Billy Jones, on Paul Davis' twitter feed for anyone who hasn't seen it.
#RUFC right-back Billy Jones: “You look to your left and right and know the players next to you are giving everything. I’ve not always had that at other clubs.”
I wonder how it feels to support Reading and Wigan who's players tossed it off till April before finally playing to the best of their abilty, and earned around a million quid per man for doing so.
On the day we got relegated, i'm proud to support this football club.
Warney he's got to go. We aim to be a championship club. He's had his chance, failed. It's min' 2 yr plan. What worries me his retained list. More money chucked away on his idea of good human beings, not got the b*lls to make tough decisions but one problem with that as shown this season not enough players in his squad with the ability for the level we've played in. You can only go to the well so many times. It ran out towards the end of the season.
I wish some of the positive posters on this thread would comment more often. Reading the average comments after a game is like an appointment with the grim reaper. But it's obvious that there are people out there who appreciate the club for what we are and celebrate our superb achievements this season rather than always looking for someone to blame. Personally, I'm looking forward to next season. I see no reason why we should lose any players - none of them would bring us the £millions we need - and we could start next season as a very strong unit.
Well done PW and the players on a great effort. It took a long time for the inevitable to materialise but it was fun along the way.
Keep up the good work Smiler - your efforts through great adversity have been appreciated!
Onwards and upwards.
I have got over our relegation very quickly still think the manager should carry the can for our very poor recruitment last season only Jones and Robertson any good. Looks like Mr perfect will be here next season just got to hope our signings are better I know some of you will mention Crooks but he is a work in progress as far as I am concerned. There is one player who might be worth having a look at a forward Liam Boyce at Burton Albion.

Totally agree with 'Its Miller Time' when he says Smiler has already said it for me. A similar pattern from yesterdays game to many others. We were as good if not better for long periods of the game. We hit the post and crossbar but just didn't have enough to finish the game off. There's always turning points with us and i think the wrong throw in decision on their first goal was it yesterday. Also the bad tackle on Vaulks (no card or anything) didn't help with him having to go off.
Many people think Newell and Forde should not get new deals. If we allow them to move on we will be taking away from the side two very good deliverers of crosses and dead balls as evidenced yesterday and all their time with us.
I have enjoyed our time in the championship, going to good grounds and ok the dark side of the game is more in evidence but i still would prefer going to clubs like Stoke than Fleetwood.
I do not think we will keep all of our better players. T.S. has been putting in money to keep us out of debt (many people think not enough) and if you don't believe me the Clubs 2017-18 accounts will be out in June so take a look. I think we will move on Vaulks and Ajayi. A decision i agree with on two fronts. One to freshen up the squad if Rob Scott can find new hungry young players and two for the progress of the careers of the two mentioned. Also T.S will get some money back. If T.S. then stops saying we have a big budget and we are pushing for the premier in so many years then i can take him getting a bit back.
We still have a strong squad for Division one. I would not give deals to Towell,Taylor and would be opposed to having Rodak back even if his parent club allowed it. I was proud to be singing 'Rotherham Till I Die' yesterday and believe our lads have given everything in trying to keep us up. Sack Warne ! Are you having a laugh. He is everything that we want in a manger. Young, thinks hard about the game, is open to new ideas, makes himself available to the fans (go to Parkgate he will chat to you) is a great motivator, loyal and a very very decent human being. Poor old TH MIller, up and down like a yo yo. He now thinks Richardson looks a good signing. He left years ago didn't he. Aye Aye the men in white coats are knocking at his door. Only kidding TH you have the mighty millers in your blood which can only be a good thing.
whiston01 no way would I keep Forde. I go to games to for escapism not to see players so limited like him to want me not to be there. If was there last Monday you'd be thinking twice about keeping Newell he was that bad along with Wood.

One swallow doesn't make a summer gwru. I've seen the millers 35 times this season and am not basing my opinion on one bad game. I have to agree Newell and Forde have not been great this season but Newell has featured 29 times and Forde 26 times. Forde is steady who can deliver good crosses and dead balls. Newell is left sided which we are short of them. I think both would do well in Division one as part of a squad. Certainly to start off with next season until we find out about the new recruits.
Not my fault about Richardson it's that predictive spelling have a bit sympathy for some one who has the flu but I don't expect it.
How many will we get I am not going next season remember there is the check a trade trophy to look forward to I am going to every home game next season the whole bag of mashings. This is a time to back your team find out who the real supporters are I will enjoy a good moan because we have gone down but I am back for some more punishment UTM.
whiston01 how many crosses from open play has Forde put in that's resulted in goals. I can't think of any. Newell at least one I can remember but he's gone backwards to me. Out of wingers I'd only keep Williams, at least he can beat a man.
Sorry to hear you are not well TH Miller. You can count the total goals from open play on one hand this season gwru, so i am not sure Forde is the only one. I put on an earlier post about Williams and his lack of assists over the last two seasons. He appears to be one of your special ones, a bit like Bailey King, JCH and Hinds. When you look at what they have actually achieved, its very little.
