Evans when he was here at least there was some heart & passion in his side that kept us up. He's history now but parachute payments were in then so will go down in the records he kept us up Warney didn't. There's no excitement with Warney the manager be same tea boys given new contracts. If the likes of Potter & Forde are given contracts be another long season next season. Time for a new manager, coaches who can organise the defence, set the team up right. I don't get this Warney love in. He took us down, he failed. Somebody tell me different. I'd be in touch with Phil Parkinson, as good a manager as we could get.
I'm fairly convinced you are on a wind up gwru. Yet again you say 'tell me different'. A few posters have been 'telling you different' for a while now. Do you not read other people's posts? Many posters on here, Rotherham supporters beyond here and independent pundits think that Warne has done as good a job as anyone could have done in his position. Steve Evans - different time, different competition, different budget. Not a good like for like comparison. Warne has laid a foundation that we can build on. Evans's slash and burn policy left a club that had nothing to build on. Just a collection of largely past-it players with no re-sale value on short term contracts and a cheque book with no cheques left in it. Even if you disagree, it is water under the bridge in any case, just like Dom Ball, JCH, Darnelle Bailey-King and all the other things you can't let go of. Please don't respond by going over any of that ground again - it has been done to death. If Evans ever comes back to manage us again I won't be going to watch. I want to support a club I can feel proud to support, not ashamed. As for Phil Parkinson, you really must be on a wind up. No disrespect to him, but he can't offer us anything that we haven't already got. Warne is the manager, should stay as manager, and I suspect will be our manager next season unless a Championship club tempts him away from us in the Summer.
The only reason i could think of for changing the manager would be us getting a new owner or investor that would splash the cash and we needed a guy with connections. PW is as good as any in L1 and has proven himself in getting us promoted from there.
Been saying for ages we never did really replace Frecks. Towell is L1 standard and actually thinks he's a Frecks but no way is he, in fact what type of midfielder is he?, as he doesn't excel at anything, send him back move on. Forde isn't Beckham, you can't carry him for the rare occasion he puts in a peach dead ball or cross (which he has in his locker just not often enough) so he has to go. Newell stil can't last 90 minutes, and when he does start games in the main he's bab for whatever reason. He's been here long enough we know what we're going to get, I'd rather get shot and gamble on something different, same with Taylor who is too easy to play against.
We do have the nucleus for a good side....defensively...and in controlling possession at L1 standard. But our problems will continue if we don't find those attacking players we've been missing. I would much rather us create 4 top chances and score 2/3/4 per game than create 12 meh chances and score 1...2 if we're lucky. I didn't like Evans but that team for L1 we had, you knew if we got the chance we'd be pretty good at converting and there was always a goal in us no matter how late in the game.
4-2-3-1 agree with it or not it's the modern way. My U13s play it as its relevant to them (as 4-4-2 was when we were kids). 4-2-3-1 is the most dynamic formation in football, if you've got the players. It rarely is a 4-2-3-1 and can easily morph to 4-3-3, 4-5-1, 4-1-4-1 and even 4-2-4. So those that say we have no plan B don't know what on earth they're banging on about. The problem with us for a few seasons now is not enough creativity and goals in midfield so it looks like we don't have a plan B as when that formation changes during a game when the coaches demand it doesn't look like it solves anything. Those attacking players that can play that dynamically cost money and it's evident we are skint.
We don't shop at the footballing equivelent of Poundland for nothing, it's patently obvious we're skint despite Tony's protestations to the contrary. I write for the D3D4Football website which is a site specifically for fans of L1 & L2 clubs, previews & match reports etc & I have seen on my travels up & down the country a wealth of genuine talent in the lower leagues that would be ideal for & more importantly affordable for the Millers. Players like James McKeown (GK) at Grimsby, Ilias Chair (AM) at Stevenage (on loan from QPR), Sam Sturridge was on loan at Oldham from AFC Bournemouth, & a lot more besides.
Please check out the site & maybe one or two of my reports/previews etc.....
Exetermiller we're on the same page. Towell Forde Newell Taylor Potter can get shut now, also Bray Manny got to or else Warney isn't the man for the job. Vyner can go back. If he'd stop I'd keep Rodak. Mattock offer a new contract, Williams also. Palmer Yates Vassell can go. Don't want any players we have out on loan back. That squad needs a major re-vamp. Warney knows it, show us he's a manager who can make decisions. I actually rate Phil Parkinson, not done a bad job anywhere he's been. But can't see nobody any good coming in for Warney, can't see TS removing Warney from the Roth U managers job just now.
Evans only difference to when he was here there's no emergency loan window. Tell you what he'd have done in our position in January got two loans in like he did when he was here who would have improved the side.

No doubt the squad needs freshening up, but major surgery. Really. Last time in Division one we finished fourth and got promoted via play offs. That to me indicates we will not be far off with what we have. In the play off final fourteen players played some part. Only Lavery, David Ball and Emmanuel have not featured this season(Ball one game). We have added Crooks, Robertson. Jones, Vassell and Ben Wiles has come to the fore. Apart from Vassell (not had chance to show yet) i think they have improved us. I am sure people are going to quote Emmanuel as better than Jones but i beg to differ as for me Emmanuel is way off what is required at the moment. Some Ipswich fans do not rate him at all.
I think Vaulks and Ajayi will be sold. That definitely weakens the squad. This is where Scott and his recruitment team have to come to the fore and get the right replacements in and also T.S has to give Warney a large part of the money we get from them. It looks like we are going to sign the young French winger, who is right sided. That means i think we can only give new contracts to one of Taylor Williams and Forde. As the French lad is an attacking winger then i would offer Forde a new one year contract (cue for gwru to slam me)
Purrington will be back as cover on the left side defensively. I would not offer contracts to Potter, Bray, Onarise, both Balls and would think hard about going for Towell. I dont think Fulham will want Rodak in the third tier so we might have to go with Price and Bilboe.
We need a marquee signing. It might be the time to sign one of the lower league strikers who have been doing it and would come to us to better himself. Stockley at Exeter or Norwood at Tranmere might fit the bill but the price might put T.S off. We have the basis of a good squad for Division one and with a bit of a clear out and some shrewd signings i believe we will go very close.
There are rumours Norwich are Interested in Ajah I think it's a bit far fetched but Vaulks will be gone also hope we can do a better job in recruitment after last season's effort we need something to cheer in league 1.
I'd be disappointed to lose Vaulks as he has really excelled and in L1 could be fantastic. Yates is the striker I'd swap as we have given him loads of chances and he isnt good enough by a long way - was embarrassing to watch him at Derby recently.
Of course Evans would have done a better job. The evidence is indisputable. Whether one likes his personality or managerial ways don't weigh into his, stats.. PW also just said his targets didn't sign for him and the club despite the budget being enough. His words not mine.
That's the current summary

The evidence is very disputable. Evans at Peterborough went head to head with Warne in League One. Only one of them got promotion. Scratch beneath the surface with Evans. Credit to him, he knows how to build and protect a CV, but he didn't want to be here in the end so sod him - I'll back the guy who took the job on when nobody else wanted it and brought some pride and respectability back.

Evans didn't want to be here? As I've said if he'd had been here in January he'd have got two loans in to make that difference. Left winger definitely, Frecks type midfielder other. But same as JCH he's history,
Next season there will be bigger pint pots for ale just for the Millers' supporters. This is a work in progress and may not happen.
Miller Bear will be able to play a recognisable beat on his drum. This too is a work in progress and may not happen.
The Millers will win 60% of their games. Yes, you've guessed it. This too is definitely a work in progress and may not happen.
More importantly the pitch at the NYS will be a brighter shade of green that has ever been seen. This is to ensure that even if we lose any games we'll always have something good to look at plus the effect will be enhanced if we wear rose tinted glasses. This is not a work in progress. Everything looks good if you wear rose tinted glasses.
Onwards and upwards! Now that is what I call a plan.
There is some good that we are not in Bolton scenario. But I wonder how fast the efl would have acted if that had been us millwall and not and ex premier league and one of the founder teams
Forgot Stockley had gone to Preston Splinter. It might be we have a look at Chuks Aneke from M.K.. Dons. We have been linked before supposedly. If M.K. fail to get promoted he might be on our radar but if they get promoted i cannot see it happening. He is a big lad who scores so if we move Smith on (which i hope we don't) he would be the target man if that's the style we want to play
Ì am not very exited about next season if the Warney tree huggers are in charge again he wil be gone by Xmas going Sunday expecting nothing but another pasting reminds me a bit when we had George Kerr as a manager what a plonker he turned out to be.
