What else would we do if we weren't able to watch The Millers? Our Saturdays would be bleak. Nothing to look forward to midweek. We wouldn't be able to have a good moan or praise our team, whichever is appropriate after each game or even during a game. Where would the happy clappers go? I'm sure many of them won't be joining any particular cult or religious group any time soon. Their claps will go unheard. They have to clap. It's in their genes. There aren't any clapping groups or workshops where people can hone their clapping styles. Before anyone starts throwing sticks and stones my way, let me say I too enjoy some of the happy clapping.

On an earlier thread I was unsure about renewing my season ticket. I'm now veering in the direction of renewal. There, I've said it now. It wasn't painful.

Don't need a increase in the no. of coaches we are carrying enough lame ducks now. Need right coaches. Warney & Barker were strikers, what do they know about defence. Pollitt heard differing noises saying some saying he's not that good a goalkeeping coach. He's never got Rodak catching the ball. Worry about Warney. Just heard him on free view saying we have the nucleus of a good side. Counting loans would say Rodak Ajayi Ihiewke Robertson Mattock Vaulks Crooks Wiles Williams Smith that's it. Rest no. How many of them will stay to play in league 1? Hope we aren't left with most of the were good players & never will be or not going to play again.

How many players will be left up to the new recruitment people they are going to be very busy hope we can get decent money for Vaulks Ajay maybe Smith. Williams out of contract as I have said before they can all go the rats are deserting the sinking ship. Time for a revamp this last season has been very predictable need to bring in some players to give us some excitement just start winning a few games to begin with.

Lamy, 19 years of age as has already been mentioned. In addition another player, a 19 year old central midfielder, from Ipswich, has been training with us.
Ironically, according to the 'Tiser, Warney is quoted as saying, 'We need a goalscorer.'

No sh!t Sherlock!

Warne says we need a goalscorer ffs his tactics meant our ONLY striker was often chasing lost causes and only.scored from set pieces as he was always chasing the LONG BALL Buying a goalscorer means playing him in a formation where he is in a position to score goals THE OPPONENTS PENALTY BOX THAT MEANS PLAYING A FORMATION WHERE WE HAVE 2 UP OR WINGERS UP.WITH PLAY PUTTING CROSSES IN THE BOX Yes Do I believe Warne will.play an attacking formation next season No but I hope I'm wrong

HM we haven't got the players to play 2 up front. Next season in league 1 do you all we've got to do is turn up & it will all fall into our lap. To play 4-4-2 you need two box to box midfielders & full backs & wingers covering each other. Only Mattock can defend & get forward. Our wingers none of them can defend, would say Williams is the only winger we have on the right you can call a winger. On the evidence of Monday & most of the season Forde, Taylor & Newell need replacing. League 1 will be competitive. A lot of teams play with one only up front. What you need is one of the wingers to support the lone striker & chip in with a few goals.

Back in Rotherham, so thanks to all the people who have posted their thoughts about the last two games. Special thanks to Smiler who i believe gave a balanced view of what has gone off
As we have the sword of Damocles over our head and little or no chance of championship survival its probably right to talk about next season. TH Miller would sack the lot and others would favour a very radical clear out. Well, last season we finished 19 points behind Wigan and 17 pts behind Blackburn. This season we are 8 and 19 pts behind the same clubs in a higher division after investing very little. That to me indicates the magnificent effort from Warne and his management team. If we look at the fourteen which featured at Wembley only Emmanuel, D. Ball and Lavery have not figured. Emanuel is struggling at Ipswich and Ball even more so at relegated Bradford. The players we have added on the cheap have done well in a division possibly above their ability with the exception of Vassell who hasn't really had chance to show us what he is worth.
We have around eleven out of contract players, of those i would offer new deals to Mattock, Forde and Newell. I think i would also show no interest in Vyner , Rodak and Towell. The big two to move on are Taylor and Williams. Both i believe have had a fair crack of the whip as offensive players and not delivered. Williams has played around 80 games for us scoring only 5 times and has had very few assists. Taylor is too inconsistent in my opinion. We can bring Purrington back as cover at the back, so the job of Scott and his team is to find offensive players and in particular a couple of strikers. I expect us to lose Vaulks and Ajayi so a holding midfield player is required as the jury is still about about Palmer even in Division one.
I think it was Derbymiller who spoke about developing young players and gwru has championed Bailey king and Hinds in the past. The problem with RUFC and development is we are a category three academy and clubs around us like the blades, owls and Tykes are category two. The better players go to the category two clubs instead of us. We can only be a category two if we have our own ground to play on. At the moment we hire out Hallam University grounds for the youngsters to play on. So with our juniors and reserves playing in such a low standard it is hard for them to make a breakthrough. For the millers to get into the championship at any time has been a tremendous effort. Keep with Warne and co and see if Scott can get us a few gems . We are not far off again. UTM.

whiston01 if you had been there Monday no way would you keep Newell, showed nothing. Forde same don't think he's worth a contract above lower league 1

Thats probably fair comment gwru but to move out too many would leave a massive job to get the new players to gel. Newell is a left sided player who can create. I agree he has struggled this season but his last four months in division one were as good as anybody's. Forde would possibly only be a squad player but he could fill in if the new wingers are not up to it. Forde is well capable in Div one of steadying the ship, not spectacular but solid which will help on occasions.

Agreed, not Newell's best game but he still put in the best two crosses of the game and I do believe we were still in the match at 1-1 when he went off?

Based on his form over the past four season's and not just his last 45 minutes, a fit Joe Newell is well worth keeping.

Under Warney we will be left with the same crap we've had to put up with. Newell Forde no way worth contracts. Phil Parkinson only manager I can think we could get with the experience to sort it

Sort what gwru ? We have two games of the season left and still have a mathematical chance of staying up. That for me is some performance when the club has spent next to nothing and have a division one set up. Unless you have somebody who is going to come in with money to assist T.S then what we have now is as good as it gets. What crap have we had to put up with? Taking teams like Villa,Sheff Utd, Norwich,Derby, Sheff Weds, Middlebrough, Hull etc to the limit with lads who have given 100+ % every week. If there's more of that crap to come then they get my full backing. Lets be a bit realistic here.

I really don't understand what is so difficult to grasp about this season. We are a minnow in a massive pond. Five fixtures out of six we play teams who pay four or more times what we do and get crowds three times the size of ours. Our record transfer fee paid wouldn't cover their weekly wage bill. Its easy to brush that aside and say it doesn't matter, but of course it makes an enormous difference. It is so easy to do an Ipswich, get a bad start and collapse. It would have been so very easy for us to have another nightmare 24 point season, but by having the team spirit and a way of playing that isn't always pretty but is sometimes effective, we have kept our pride and hung in there with a chance. I applaud that. We have a much better, younger squad of players than we had when Warne took over and than we had last season. We actually have some assets in money terms. Lots to be positive about. We are financially more stable than most and although it is disappointing that we will probably go down, if we do we will be among the favourites to do well in League One and bounce back. Lots to feel good about. But instead we get all this anger and frustration, and supporters who want the heads of good people who have done a good job but haven't quite been able to pull off a miracle. All the amateur pundits who don't know all the facts but all know better than the professionals. The blinkered view that relegation necessarily equals failure and that somebody must carry a can on that basis. Its laughable. Constantly changing managers is never a good idea. Finding a good one who can develop a team and a club over time is a better idea, even if that means having occasional downs as well as ups along the way. A la Burnley/Dyche for example. Phil Parkinson...good one!

After last Mondays game I am very surprised the manager is still here I would want as many players out but reading the Tizer looks like the tea party is is going to carry on. Just got to hope Scotty and his team can bring in a few decent recruits I predict we will be looking for a new manager before Christmas. Ì can see us being relegated by 3 30 tomorrow there will be nobody running on the pitch next Sunday I will be running for a pint.
