What a shame this season has turned out to be, believe we could and should have done much better.
Again we’ve had a chance to try and establish ourselves and not taken it, bar Crooks the January window was inpet and the board left Warne to try and complete a near miracle. It was said last time we slipped out the league it would cost the club £5 million. If we’d have spent a small fraction of that figure in January we’d be comfertable now.

Totally agree... it makes no sense that we didn't risk a little more in January, assuming it wasn't all down to the incompetence of the previous useless recruitment team...
After unexpectedly being promoted into the Championship the club seemed unprepared for the challenge ahead. The majority of supporters accepted the “little old Rotherham doing all it can on a limited budget” mantra. But could we have done more?
We obviously can’t compete financially. I despise the Premier League and Sky not only for their greed but the detrimental effect they have had on the lower leagues. The question is did we do the best we could within the budget we had?
PW as an ex fitness coach did what he is good at - motivating players. After a mauling at Brentford he seemed transfixed to the side never being over run. That led to the emphasis on defence and pinching goals from corners, throw ins and free kicks. Not particularly great to watch but perceived by many as our only option. Can’t fault the players for effort. As to quality they are what they are. For the sake of a little more speed and concentration in defence, and a little more composure in attack the fine margins of some results could have been very different. For whatever reason we didn’t (couldn’t?) strengthen the squad.
As to PW he is definitely a nice chap and in football managerial terms a work in progress. But does he have weaknesses which adversely affected results? Some have questioned team selection, stubbornness, and an apparent inability to tactically change games in progress. Would the advice of a more knowledgeable head have made a difference?
Sadly, I don’t see much changing. I don’t know the real reason TS bought a football club he didn’t previously support. He‘ll have done his homework and known in the EFL ownership invariably comes at a personal cost. Whether he thinks the ride has been worth the investment is down to him. But throughout he has made his own decisions. His managers, his stadium name, his away kit policy. As long as his losses are within a sustainable level I wonder if that will be enough. The question I would ask TS about last season is why was recruitment allowed to be so ineffective and for so long?
Does anyone think the recruitment will improve with mates are us (only mate I have got is in my sandwich) it just seems a bit to cosy there is no ambition I think we will end up a mid table team next season.
TS appears not to want to splash the cash any time soon. This past Championship season is evidence of that. The mood amongst some supporters appears to have changed since we were relegated from the Championship. Its moved away from that of 'in TS we trust' to one of cynicism. The club now has got to go some way to generate repeat support for next season. The club must reach out and connect with the people of Rotherham. Even Miller Bear should be sent through Rotherham Town Centre wearing a sandwich board and beating a drum. RUFC should rent one of the many empty shop premises and turn it into another Red and White store. Players should put in guest appearances at the store. Publicise the store with posters on the inside of shop windows and pubs around the Town Centre.
Question. What should be written on Miller Bear's sandwich board to drum up support for the club? I reckon the person with the best practical ideas should be the one running our illustrious football club. Bear in mind there are two sides to a sandwich board. A front side and a back side. Think very carefully about what should be written on the front side and what should be written on the back side.

Think a red n white shop in town is a brilliant idea as there's no representation of the club in there (although there's generally not many people in town every time I've been in). That bear is an imposter and Dusty Miller is still the real mascot.
The town centre can often be quiet so it is up to someone to drum up some trade. I can see that the legend of Dusty Miller still lives on and could be seen as the one true club mascot. Dusty Miller could return and walk ahead with Miller Bear behind carrying a sandwich board with something written on the front and back sides.
Would the Commercial people at the club be up for this idea?
Maybe TS has gone as far as he wants to? Not knocking that and he's already into the club for a load of his cash so perhaps thats it for him or even wants to recover his money. He's learned that rhetoric and big talk gets us no further and is probably not up for the type of investment required and also in a time of personal grief he isn't maybe thinking RUFC 24/7. Can't see anyone else wanting to replace him either; with championship money.
Maybe Mr Stewart's expectations of where the club is heading took a hit of realisation with the heroics of Mr Warnock in keeping us up in 2016???? Do we really know exactly how much that Mr Warnock and his team cost the club? Could it be that was the moment Mr Stewart decided to reign things in financially and with his expectations? Would it have been better for the club if Mr Warnock wasn't appointed, and had been relegated a season earlier??? Difficult to know, so we move on, and deal with the hand dealt. Warney made a better fist of things this time round, and was probably two or three useful signings away from survival. Oh for a Carl Robinson, Jody Morris, Gerry Gow, Jimmy Goodfellow, Tony Grealish signing in the January window, someone with a bit upstairs, to boss things. Perhaps Potter could have been that player, he would have freed Ajayi up to remain in the heart of defence, but again we will never know. As for Warney, for me, he has done enough to continue holding the reins, could have done better at times, but which manager is perfect? If Mr Stewart decides to change things around, in his current mind set, the next manager is already at the club as No.2!
Ìf we do change the manager I am comming round to the idea of Phil Parkinson done a brilliant job at Bolton in very trying times I just feel we are heading to a period where we are going nowhere nothing happening at NYS still celebrating going down I don't see us doing much in this transfer window I am usually Mr glass half full it at the moment my glass is empty.

Warney is said to be undecided on Potter. It's a no then if you are not certain. No way would I keep Potter or Forde. They won't move you forward. Phil Parkinson I said that a while back. When a manager who knows our level as good as him who is not out of wage limit go for it. Missed opportunity: January was. No urgency to get players, a statement by Warney as soon as the transfer window ended that must have been made much earlier. As just been said same as most posters on here, same with our manager congratulating each other on getting relegated. I'm not!
According to football fans generally we had the ninth best manager in the 72 club EFL last season. Not my opinion but an independent one from supporters of the 72. Critics of Warne are very much in the minority amongst those looking from the outside in and happily amongst Millers supporters as well.
I am not expressing my opinion just stating that some supporters are very impatient and want things done immediately. I enjoyed last season and thought we were in most games. It is unfortunate that we came up short but it not through lack of effort by all concerned.
i don’t have any money to invest in a football club and because of that I am not willing to tell other people how to spend theirs. MrWarne deserves to be our manager and I look forward to an entertaining 2019/20:season.
I wouldn't know how to rank managers in different divisions with different challenges but it seems that the only football supporters who don't rate the job Warne has done are a minority of our own, which is an unfortunate irony. For my money the risk with Warne is that a bigger club comes in for him. Money talks. We would be weaker without him.
