There were a significant minority giving Warne abuse at half time and giving it the usual 'get two up front' and 'go for it' bullshine. Anybody who didn't go today, don't be fooled into thinking that we went for a point and only attacked after going behind. We were far the better team from the kick off but wasted a lot of good situations with a poor final ball. No way did we deserve to be behind at half time. The players could have been forgiven for letting their heads go down, but the second half was superb. For all their big names and big money, we battered Stoke for long periods today and in fact its gutting not to have won it. Gwru, you should give players a fair run before you pronounce judgment on them. Crooks has played the equivalent of about three full games so far in bits and pieces and you wrote him off. Today when he came on he was absolutely magnificent. That doesn't mean he is going to do that every week, but anyone watching him today could surely see why we signed him. The much maligned Vyner was also excellent. A mate of mine who has a season ticket at Stoke rated that today as one of the best away performances he has seen down there this season. Proud to be a Miller.

I think it was plain to see that Crooks had all the attributes to become a significant acquisition for us. He has height, strength and presence and he covers the ground effortlessly. Premature criticism of him was naive and uninformed - much like a lot of the criticism of PW. However, football is an emotional game and supporters tend to shoot from the hip when things aren't going smoothly. However, after a few decades of watching the Millers, you tend to get a bit more patient and considered before expressing an opinion - hopefully!
I like that Crooks has a bit of confidence, bordering on arrogance, on the ball Glenn. I'm sure that he will try things that sometimes don't work, but you feel that he can make things happen. I think we need him on the ball high up the pitch, as a number ten. To my eye he looks a bit lighter than when he joined us too. Towell wasn't bad today but for my money he is behind Crooks and Wiles for a starting place.

Totally agree, and I've said that since he started. he's just not had enough game time - hopefully today will sway Warne's mind, as well as a few on here :)
Às I have said I wasn't a happy puppy when we were 2-0 down at half time and I gave them credit for getting a point. When we go to Swansea on Friday we need more of the same just need to keep a clean sheet we all have our own opinions be very boring if we all thought the same
This is the reality. We avoid relegation? Then what? Another miserable season in the Championship? Hanging on by the skins of our teeth? Crunch game after crunch game? Hovering around the drop zone for weeks on end? Yes, we showed some battling spirit against Stoke. We almost took them to the cleaners. But we need to be able to do that week in and week out if we are to survive in the Championship. We have to be consistent throughout what is a long arduous campaign. Maybe it will go to the wire and the last match at the NYS will not be for the faint hearted.
Hopefully upwards from here and henceforth.

It's not for the faint hearted at the New York stadium. While we've been here two seasons ago was the only season when it was over premature. I want the challenge of the championship again next season. Watched highlights of yesterday's game. Good to see Williams running down the right, coming to Crooks who hit it well tipped over. One thing we've got to do from now is start with our best side. Game could be lost with our players who can change the game sat on the bench. Hoping we are no more than two points off Wigan after this afternoons game.
If we go down not the end of my world see how the Wigan match goes agree Vyner has improved as the season has gone might be able to sign him from Bristol City looking at the moment has if it will go to the last match come on Dhelia get them Norwich boys cooking with gas.
Thanks to Smiler and Glenn Millers excellent posts. People talk about having opinions and nobody should have any problem with that. Opinions though need to based on some fact or something you have seen. I cannot believe anybody who went to the game yesterday shared the opinons of THMiller and Hillsbrough miller at 3.50pm yesterday. We had been as good as Stoke if not better but just failed with the final ball. To go in 2-0 was an injustice and in my opinion it didn't want a Warne to Q.P.R or a useless comment. In the second half we were easily the better team and apart from some good goalkeeping and last ditch defending it would have been a deserved three points.
Again i see Comments like Warnes mate Mattock, Forde, Towell??? etc. Are you really going to the games ? . I have criticised Towell for not having enough effect on games but the lad is putting everything in and certainly not being picked for being the mangers mate. Same with Forde, a bit limited but gives everything and i still believe a better option than Williams and possibly Newell for the first hour of away games. Then Newell and Williams can come on to stretch the game. It certainly is all about opinions and as i am away for the next two games i will be relying on the opinions on here, especially those that go to the games.
Here's hoping Norwich players are well stoked up for this game today. Delia doesn't want egg on her face and her team to look like puddings. Canaries and puddings don't look right on the same menu.
As for Warney? Will he cook up something tasty to help batter us away from the drop zone?
Whichever we look at it there's going to be a lot of heat in quite a few kitchens in the next few weeks. If you can't stand the heat......
whiston01 in no way is Forde a better option to start the game than Williams. Williams is by far our best right winger, play him there from now till the end of the season. That's why Warney gets accused of playing his mates, Forde strikes me as a teachers pet. Can see the logic of leaving Newell on the bench, start with Taylor on the left cause he's the more likely goalscorer out of our wingers. Mattock is in the side on merit, he's had a fine season. Towell puts everything in but on the evidence of the highlights from yesterday Crooks could influence a game more. As I've said hope after today Norwich have done us a favour then sooner have our away game at Swansea than Wigan's away game at Leeds next games up.
Forde had a decent hour for us yesterday. He is not as dynamic as Williams but brings a better defensive side to the team. That's why i said away from home. Against W.B.A. and Swansea we will have to stay in the game as long as possible. I have seen fifteen away games this season and from what i have seen i would pick Forde in most of them before Williams. At home Williams would start most times before Forde. Williams and Newell are good impact players for us and Warne uses them well as evidenced yesterday. Crooks is a work in progress and hopefully will continue on an upward curve. I agree with the poster who said he looks fitter and i think he needs playing just behind the striker to possibly see him at his best. We are just finding out what his best role will be.
Will never agree with starting Forde. Game could be out sight for us while he's on the pitch, he's never gone past his opposing full back while he's been here. Whichever league we are in next season I wouldn't offer him a new contract.
People might think that I am Paul Warne in disguise with how I defend him at times. So just to be clear, I think he does make mistakes and constructive criticism is fair enough. For example Warne seems to like Taylor and personally he would never be in my first eleven. I disagree with some selections. I think we do sometimes show teams too much respect, and I think we go too long too often. They are all personal opinions. Having said that, I think its important to be fair. The knee jerk criticism of Warne yesterday (online and amazingly - because they should have seen it with their own eyes - at the stadium) was purely because we were losing. It completely overlooked the fact that we had played very well and were the dominant side despite being two down. When we let a lead slide against Villa Warne got stick for what some people imagined he might have said at half time, or for being negative, ignoring the impact that Villa's excellent players had on the game. What is telling is that those same people won't give Warne any credit for the fact that we kept at it yesterday when heads could have dropped. The team might get praise, but nothing for the manager. Sometimes his detractors go completely missing when we do well, but they are quick to make it all his fault when things don't go our way. The stuff about green tea and picking mates etc is lazy and a bit cheap. I guess that we all have our preconceptions, likes and dislikes. Perhaps we care too much to have rational opinions, myself included. Taking a step back, every independent observer I have heard or read thinks that we have done remarkably well to be where we now find ourselves. I haven't found this season painful. The season we got 24 points was painful. This time round we have with the exception of perhaps three games been competitive week on week. That is some achievement. Staying up would be the icing on the cake for me but the season has already been a success of sorts.
Wigan almost made the Canaries look like puddings today. That man Pukki saved Norwich's blushes. I wonder if Delia is now going to start producing Pukki Pies in honour of the striker?
