" In the real world have you ever known familiarity between a manager & his workforce. I haven't." Yes i have Gwru. I can think of several managers of mine who i considered and still consider friends. Including one who i sit next to at NYS 30 years later.
I didn't work behind a desk, worked in engineering factory's all my life. It was us & them. I see an ex member of staff I used to work with at every home game he doesn't want to know me. No skin off my nose.

My original post was more about the team. When we were relegated last time, the side was dire, Warne was manager but based on players other, failing, managers had brought in.
I didn't want Warne as manager after we were relegated, but I think in reality he's done a fabulous job with the players he's had at his disposal.
Which brings me back to the Chairman... I was as vocal as anyone about the lack of investment in the team, and the terrible transfer dealings in January (which at least he has now tried to address by sacking the main person responsible, albeit the main issue is lack of funding)
Whether we stay up or go down, I expect (and actually want) us to sell two players out of the three likely to go, providing we get decent money... If we do, I'd expect a better effort been made in the close season player wisewith some of that money, and therefore optimistic about next year.
There is nothing wrong with our fan base and crowds, as I've said a million times before, that is not an issue.
I think we've always been of a similar mind on Evans, Brad. And I wouldn't want to give the idea that I blindly applaud everything the club does. Tony Stewart has made some big mistakes in my opinion, not least with his occasional unrealistic comments about his ambitions which just help create the unrealistic expectations that you mention. Nor does Warne get everything right. Looking at he big picture though i am grateful to them both for the excellent work they have done and yes I am more than happy. And gwru, the game has changed. Yes a manager needs authority but it's a weak manager who gets it through fear. Good managers earn respect. I see how hard our players work for the staff and that tells me a lot. This idea that he picks his mates etc is a myth.
If anyone thinks all the players aren't giving 100% every game, they can't be going to games. They are playing for the shirt, which I find refreshing compared to some players of the past.
Every player has an off day... and Smith has clearly been rested because of the super human shift he's put in all season. (and his toe)
I think Warne has got the best possible out of this set of players, and can't fault his managemnt style at all therefore.
He HAS tried other tactics but the players are not up to it, and that's not his fault.
I also think we've had no luck at all this season, many many games we should have won rather than drawn with a bit more luck, less Sh*te officials, and of course the players taking the chances in front of goal.
We are nearly a good team... all goes back to the money and sh*te transfer dealings.
Warney got shut of Da Ball so proves it's not a mates team. I've worked for some brilliant, innovative mansgers. Not all but the ones who were didn't have to shout & ball just inspire. You'd run through a brick wall for them.
Carragher: what have you got to do to get sacked. Is it ok to spit against somebody or against their car window. Aren't tv pundits supposed to be unbiased? he's shouting Mo Salah you little dancer after Liverpool's flukey winner against spurs. But sky can't have no scruples.
Following on from the OP, it's timely to note that Leyton Orient are currently losing to Bromley in the National League. Yeah - it really could be a lot worse......!!!
