I am telling you exactly that. We went away from home and had an equal share of possession and created as many good situations as they did. That hasn't happened often this season. The first half was scrappy but we gradually got control of the game. Perhaps Newell put in a better display because we passed it to his feet a bit more? Ajayi was immense. Wiles got on the ball and caused problems. It didn't always come off for him but at least he tried to be creative. Crooks did better than Towell. Overall I thought we had the better of it in midfield. But then I've not got my Vaulks tinted glasses on. Perhaps we would have won if he had played. Who knows? I'm not saying we won because he didn't play. It might just have been a coincidence. But I'm going to give credit to the players who were on the pitch to win us our first Championship away game in forty odd goes, not lament the fact that one particular player missed it through his own stupidity.

Absolutely spot on Smiler. Not keen on watching via the red button but better than nothing. Its took 40+ away games to get our first win and i think you have to say it looked a real good effort with no passengers. Newell got on the ball and had his best game of the season. Vyner and Wood came in and put in a great effort. They hardly created a chance and i also thought our midfield bossed them, with great games from Ajayi and Wiles.
Yet again we get points when Wood is in the team. Is it because he is the best leader in the club? The much criticised Forde , won the free kick and then delivered a top class free kick for us to get the winner. He is certainly not a speedy winger but he does the hard work and in my opinion has had a fair if unspectacular season. A steady squad player.

Top marks for getting along there Smiler. It was a special night for lots of reasons and it really opens up the relegation battle. I don't discount QPR joining the mix and Millwall's win might just be a blip and a hangover from Birmingham's onfield problems at the weekend. The major positive is that we have won without key players and that will lead to competition for places and an increase in our confidence now that the monkey has been removed. Ajayi's two goals were both top class. Not only has he managed to shore up our shaky midfield, but he has turned into that goalscoring midfielder that we've been craving. Special mention to the much maligned Forde (unjustified in my opinion) for winning the free kick and supplying a quality ball for Semi's 2nd. One game at a time from now on with a weather eye on those around us. We have a real chance of survival which was unimaginable a year ago. Norwich will be a severe test, but they won't be looking forward to it! Onwards and upwards (by one place at least)!

Same with the horses I'm always looking for the winning formula. Remember last night we were playing a side with a loser of a manager. Forde before he got that free kick swung an aimless cross in over their cross bar, he's not the answer. Newell playing as he did last night gives us the balance we've lacked all season. Towell/Crooks both a question mark against them both. Crooks of the two would give a chance. I can't understand why Williams isn't playing on the right. Robertson if fit he's got to come in for Wood. We are playing probably along with leeds the best side in the championship Saturday. Side for Norwich game. Rodak; Vyner Ihiekwe Robertson Mattock; Williams Wiles Ajayi Crooks Newell; Smith

Mattock suspended for the next two games. Jones or Hinds to cover.

Whether its a promotion race or a relegation battle there is always a game that can make or break you I have a feeling the result last night was one of them hopefully it gives us confidence to battle away to safety don't show any respect to any teams we are going to play. hopefully Warney has got the Mattock situation covered nice for once to get that away win you never know there might be a couple more before the season ends.

Good result and of course note worthy for its uniqueness, but it hasnt changed anything for me. Exactly the same position and the same going forward. The difference might be that Wigan are in play at present and unless they sort it out soon they will presumable feel more wobbly than others.

Pleased over the last dozen games that injuries and a change in formation and mentality has given the team the best shape it has had this season. Personally I think forde and taylor deserve their places, but if newall and wiles, williams and crooks want them then they will have to step it up as Newall might have done last night.

Glad to see Rodak getting some form back and as you all know I do like Woods for the reason already mentioned. Hes a born leader, and whatever the dynamic he has been involved in lots of point grabbing games. With the defence having options (Ahem!) and the midfield looking stronger we have the best options now available.

Mattcok will be missed but I do agree with PW. The side has evolved . It has not been a something ever. I think this has helped keep us going. The ability to adapt has been a mark of this season.
