If we took our chances we would be in front every game never mind defence. We should have been 3-1 at half time yesterday and coasting. I like Smith but he's no striker and will never be a 25 goals a season striker in any division.
Forde's confidence was shot to pieces. The one on one with the Owls' keeper in the first half was a defining moment. Forde fluffed his chance to shine. After that he went from bad to worse until he was eventually taken off. It was sad to see.
Whatever league we are in next season both Forde & Newell whose well off his game can go. Taylor out of our wingers he's easily the best finisher. Doesn't effect him when he misses, he keeps coming back for more. As I've said Williams looked good on the right when he came on yesterday. Playing there he could help to keep us up.
Like thousands of millers i was gutted just after 3pm yesterday. Apart from the first ten minutes and fifteen minutes at the start of the second half where it got physical and a bit ugly we were easily the best side in every aspect of the game.
Creating chances and looking like a side who was comfortable against a bigger championship team/club. Forde did miss a one on one with the keeper but i am not sure it was the defining moment of the game. Our game has Smith as the focal point and the player who is in the best scoring positions. He has been magnificent for us this season and defines the way we play. However, when you get a couple of chances ,one a free shot at goal from around eleven yards and one a free header from seven yards and you miss the target, then you can expect that the other side(no matter how bad) will have a chance at hitting you where it hurts.
Gwru who i have a lot of time for and lives/eats .breathes R.U.F.C. highlights the dilemma Warne has through the lack of signing a left sided forward. He has had Hinds, Manning, Yates, Mattock, Forde, Williams,Newell and now Taylor on the left. Warne selected Vassell as a makesift but i feel it was Newell who he really saw as the man to play there. Only real attacking left sided player at the club. Newell has not been able to hold down the position. If ever we needed T.S to make a biggish signing it was a left sided attacker and of course a striker. I am not going into why we haven't but say again, Warne has produced mini miracles with what he has, to get us in the position we are in.
I didn't feel Ihiekwe let anybody down yesterday and played quite well ( Should he have got a red card?) . Gwru feels Ajayi should be back in the back four. I agree he is our best right sided centre back but does moving him back there take away the edge/bite in the middle of the park. What i do know, and its contrary to a lot of opinion on here,Warne has a plan B,C and D and will set up what he believes is best to play against the opposition we are facing. To all those who believe Warne should be on his way in 2020. You are having a laugh aren't you. UTM.
whiston01 unlike some on here I wouldn't swop Warney for anyone. He has the clubs best interests at heart. Regards the left side it's Taylor cause he can score goals. Williams he's got to play on the right. For away games leave Ajayi in midfield. For winnable home games like Blackburn Ajayi in place of Ihiewkwe, Wiles in midfield.
Ikiwiki best challenge from a Rotherham player this season we are going into the business end of the season showed some pace need players like him who are going to put a shift in as corporal Jones said THEY Don't LIKE IT UP EM.
Seen Ikiwiki challenge looks better every time I see it. Got to play rest of the season like we did on Saturday don't show these teams too much respect they do not like it when we push them back to there own penalty area. The away win hoodoo has got to be broken one day the match this coming Saturday will be the one.
Stirring stuff. Can‘t fault the players - they gave everything and I was gutted their great effort was not justly rewarded. I won’t criticise the missed chances either. We have a League 1 squad and that is not their fault. The squad will only be improved either by buying in quality or coaching what we have. Sadly, not much progress on either front: no one brought in and at times we still seem to lack basic concentration in defence and composure in attack. Thank goodness for the team spirit.
