Following Readings win over Blackburn tonight. Could we possibly get out of it? I know we'll fight & give it a go but personally I think we'll come up short. Thoughts?
The club has shown a lack of investment and a lack of ambition and allowed very poor managerial decisions at all levels of the club. We have shown no ability to motivate the team for crucial games. Since december we have played the 6 teams around us and taken 2 points out of a possible 18. For all the faults of Evans, could you imagine him at his peak allowing that to happen???? I think Warnes mental state and negative approach impacts the players, they think they have failed before they go out, his interviews before matches are those of a loser and his post match interviews are basically telling us how this is the best we can be........what a complete load of tosh!!!
It is clear from the interviews that the players took it on themselves at HT at Hull and they sorted it, what does Warne actually do?
We have thrown away between £8m to £10m in revenue for season 2019/20 and moved into League 1 at the exact time that the EFL finance gap is being made bigger, that is awful leadership by TS and PD.
We are reaping what we have sowed and only the rose tinted glasses wearing sheep cannot see this.
I look at the opportunity we had this season and how it has been wasted, our history at Don Valley etc is irrelevant because all that pain was to get us to the promised land, now we are here we are so scared we have failed.
A very good post from Derbymiller. A lot of what he says i have to agree with. The willingness to invest and lack of ambition has had a massive impact on what P.W has been able to do. I have been up at the training ground and seen how frustrated P.W has been. There has been times when he has come to the fans there and has to put on a brave face and work with what he has. There have been times when i have felt he would walk as he was so down. Also his father has been very ill and this also has impacted on his demeanour.
I have not heard the interviews you have mentioned, but knowing how Barker works in particular, claiming the players took it on themselves would be way off the mark. The work Warne and Barker put in on assessing other teams and how we set up is well up with championship standard. On Mondays the first couple of hours his spent showing the last game and the pros and cons of our performance. They will have assessed the Hull game yesterday or this morning. That is just part of Warne does. he does masses of work for us.
If we go down (still think we are favourites to finish third bottom ) it could be argued that we have thrown away the £8-10 million that Derby talks about through lack of gambling a fraction of that to stay up. The weakness of that argument is we do not have the pulling power of other clubs to get the better players over the line. Not just finances but history, area etc all count against us.
I do agree we are reaping what we sow but our seeds are not top quality. T.S made us believe we were going to push for the premier. Now that was the claim that quite rightly got up the backs of our fans, myself included. We are nowhere near that and are really a top third tier side who occasionally rubs shoulders with the bigger lads in the championship. Without somebody who has much more financial clout than T.S im afraid that will always be the best we can hope for. The downside of this, is that if T.S leaves us it could mean we could become another Orient or Chesterfield. Anyway we are not down yet. I still believe P.W and co are still the best option for us and they are a great fit for R.U.F.C. UTM.
I am like a lot of millers hoping we can escape relegation. Will it be the end of the world if we can't stop up not mine I know it's boring to keep repeating if but we are not in any financial mess. That means we can regroup faster if the chairman wants to stick with Warney I am ok with that with our budget we just can't compete in this league accept it. Look at Burton they have stuck with same manager honestly I can't see anybody on the horizon who could take his place.
Just hope we can have a good day on Saturday.
Remember that story about the 3 little pigs we are going to be the big bad wolf and we are going to huff and puff and blow the owls house down.
Derbymiller will have loved it last night when we went into the bottom 3. He's like Srg Walker we're doomed, we're doomed! Warney has put the record straight about the last transfer window. Competing with clubs paying double the wages we are willing to pay. A player who would sooner stay were he his not playing than come to a championship club. You could end up paying the best wages we could pay for players not as good as we have got. We are far from down & out. Don't think any of the club's in the bottom 6 as it stands in this league have a squad as good as ours. If it's a case of battling our way out of it we have the men for the job more so than our rivals. I'm not throwing the towel in no way. UTM
It was Fraser who was the doom merchant, gwru, Walker was the spiv who could get all the black market gear. We could do with him getting us an out and out striker, but I shudder to think what his price would be...….
Gwru no i hate it because it is all down to a poorly run club. You live in cuckoo land mate instead of having a go at a fellow fan deal with the points i raise please explain to me how i am wrong
I feel for pw if his father is ill when i lost mine it was devastating. I accept the comments about what some of you have seen on the training ground. I do not accept we cannot recruit players we are not after pogba but players like the lad at forest were there for us but we pulled out now he is man of match under oneill. We have chosen not to sign players due to non-financial reasons we know that because pw has said so
derbymiller there's no other investment. Evans relied on the emergency loan system after most of his signings were discarded. Warney he's made mistakes. Now is the time to let his head rule. He his of above intelligence. One thing we've got plenty to play for. I can't think of another manager who we could get who would do better. All managers come out with the same statements. Warney will do for me. UTM
If we're being really pedantic, not only was it Frazer(with a 'z') but he (and Walker for that matter) never made Sgt. They were both Private.
Walker would have made an excellent Agent, Wilson and Godfrey would definitely have passed Warne's 'good human being' test (I wonder whether Warne calls Tony Stewart 'Uncle Tony?), and I think we all need a good dose of Jones-like 'don't panic' advice with all to play for.
Positives from tues night. Vyner & Ihiekwe, also Williams back on the bench. Our Jones & Wood been good players but now we have better. I personally would sooner have Williams the Taylor. We only have Smith up front but as Warney says he's made of granite. We have Vaulks who'll never give up. Ajayi Robertson Mattock, good players at this level. Rodak, same. It's not all negatives. Positives to me out weigh the negatives. UTM
why does everyone think there is no money, TS has conned you all.
Where is the £8m championship revenue, it has not gone on wage increases no way where is the £800k Man city money
we have chosen not to spend money and it stinks
Warne is your man that is fine, but he doesn't cut it for me at all. We are stuck with him for now. As for the comment that no other manager can do any better, really that is quite a ridiculous statement, he is not Pep
