Good news to me that. No way did I want Leon Clark. Just reading Rotherham United on twitter. Gillingham have signed a striker from Scotland. Tom Eaves back here? sooner him than Clark.
when Wigan beat us at home, perhaps the morons that have TS and PW idols in their house to pray to before bed may just realise that our club is a joke, the players love PW is what TS says well they will because he is so close to them, this softly approach is not working
qwru this is a website for fans with differing views, I rarely share your views, and to be honest we will never agree on anything. However I will not be told to leave the board by you, so get stuffed. Yes I think the way PW operates the playing side of the club is a joke, he was 5 mins away from the sack if the rumours are to be believed, but David Ball saved him, I was at that game and for 85 mins we were garbage. His away record is shocking, there is nothing to say it will improve, because he never learns he has a Plan A at the beginning of a game and is totally in capable of changing during a game, his substitutions are like for like and he has coaches that are personal friends rather than experienced successful coaches at this level. His obsession with the nature of a player over their ability is foolish at best and child like at worst. He openly admitted in an interview that when the players refused to go go-karting, he felt so offended that he went and sulked at the side of the training ground, how old is he 5??? We have no natural goalscorers at the club and he has been in charge of recruitment (as stated by TS today) for over 2 years. I could go on but what is the point, because you will not listen.........he will take us down, for the 2nd time and we will be in the bottom half of league 1 by the 1st feb 2020 unless he changes. Great leaders understand their limitations and change and adapt, so far PW is just one of the lads......
Regards Clarke, not really but he would be better than nothing until the end of the season at least he can score at this level. My frustration is you cannot see the emperor new suit isn't there, he is naked
derbymiller you are so negative like you want our club to fail. Leon Clark was always a lazy player it's only cause Wilder put a rocket up his ars* he got his finger out. We aren't Sheff U who can sign more strikers than they need. Our signings, talking 1st team players need to be up to the mark almost straight away. Need some legs in the side not a player approaching his middle 30's. I'm not a total fan of Waney's management style but see what by tomorrow brings 11pm. I can't think of another manager off hand who'd replace him. Think Peterbora have a good manager now in Fergie jrn.
No-one wants the club to fail, we're just acting responsibly by pointing out the glaring deficiencies in the running of the club including the alarming lack of ambition. It's blatantly obvious that both TS & PD along with Warnie & the infamous "head of recruitment" see us as a League 1 club & have budgeted appropriately & all sensible Millers supporters should be able to see that.
gwru Can only think of Gareth Ainsworth but it's academic because Stewart will not sack Warne whatever league we're in. But will Warne want another relegation on his CV ? Though it's not stopped Barker getting jobs ! Villa trying to sign Assombolonga so the Davis deal could yet go through because nobody else will risk taking a chance on someone with his injury history.
i agree with derby miller warne away record has to be the worst ever. the fact he is unwillng to change formation means he either scared to do so or incapable of doing so.
its obvious to all of us playing one up front is not working but hey ho we are justs fans
There are umpteen midfielders and strikers in the championship who could up our game significantly.
As TS said in that interview, he paid 1 million pounds the year before for Blackstock. I believed TS when he said it had neither left him feeling negative nor wary. However, its the kind of money that it would take to sign one of these championship players until the end of the season. Lets face it no one who has expressed an opinion thus far has said they want someone without experience or from a lower league. Given our emergency situation, I would agree with that. We are I presume to try to bring in attacking players to get us over the line this season.
If the above is true then it limits the kind of player who fits the bill. Another player won't do. You rarely go shopping for a prime item and decide the knock-off will do. No! You would keep trying to get the item you really want even if it means waiting.
However, there is a caveat with PW and TS and that is there intent on getting value for money (VFM). This seems to mean; buy at low cost (young age), be relatively successful and sell for 4 times what we paid. If this is the focus of the current search as of January 2019 with 17 games to go then there is little point in getting excited just yet. I cannot see a championship or Premiership club having any young players they would sell for the kind of money (even the million TS felt was so great he had to mention).
So, I would tend to agree the grievances on the thread have some merit. The expectation is that having got into a very good position it would be reasonable to be looking at significant signings from the tier above in the region of a fee and a decent wage (the million for 4 games quoted by TS). But, we know TS didnt really mean he wants to spend that, he was giving it as an example, not a rule.
so , if we are looking at signing it will be from a stable we are familiar with.
A loan might offer us a bigger deal and expectation in the short term but the risks are obvious} The loanee fails: we dont have a new player at the end of the season; we lose a lot of money and can't recoup; we are relegated despite the loanee.
Looking at that you would have to be a gambler by nature and a very thirsty one to risk it at the table in our current financial and league position.
Neither PW or TS are Gamblers. As many have pointed out they are more similar to the Amish ideal than a Rockefellar.
Another spot on post from Ian. He appears to have grasped the reality of the situation and puts it into words i wish i was able to do. On this and other posts there appears to me, to be knee jerk reaction saying we will go down and finish half way down league one next year. We should spend this and that,Warne needs an experience coach, a plan b etc. I still think Warne is doing a very good job with what he has at his disposal. It looks like our maximum wage is around 6k a week, with the likes of Ball and Jones being the highest paid. Now i think we are correct in keeping to this limit and not plunging the club into debt by getting loanees in, paying them treble that in the hope that a couple will keep us up. I believe it might have the opposite effect, lose the team spirit and at the end of the season as Ian said they go back to their own club and in the worse case scenario we go down.
I agree with ian and our current approach. To look for young hungry lower league players who can develop and be sold on at a profit. That is our only hope of staying in this division and is a long term plan we have to stick to. My one grievance and one i do agree with a lot on our site is, Tony Stewarts insistence that he has funds available and we can compete and will get them into the club when the manager wants them. I have seen P.W at the training ground and i am sure if that is the case then P.W would make a great poker player. Lets see what happens today and then we can judge it all a lot fairer.
Derby, Fergie was a game away from the sack like Warne not sure what that has to do with anything.
There’s nothing up with having good people at the club, having not so good people at the club won’t automatically make them better footballers. The tactics can be questioned we have been negative at times in games we should have won. However who out there could do a better job with the budget available? Warnock and Jacket quickly sussed we’ve not got the money to kick on at this level so where would we go after Warne?
Its the easiest thing in the world to be critical.
I think that at the start of the season almost everyone would have said that finishing out of the bottom three would represent a success. On that basis, the season so far would have to be rated as successful (just).
We have the lowest crowds and lowest budget in the division. Way less than half of most of the teams in there.
We do come under pressure at times, particularly late in games. That may be because we try to hang on to what we have going into the late stages of games (which is very understandable) but might also be in part because we tire late in games, having often spent much of the game chasing the ball aginst teams that are very good at keeping it.
The 442 thing is a bit of a red herring. Many of the best teams not only in our division but in the country play with one up front and are very potent.
Of course Warne will make mistakes, but I think that C is spot on. He is trying to perform a minor miracle that others weren't even willing to have a go at. Not the behaviour of a coward.
To blame Warne for our difficulty recruiting players is verry unfair. I get as frustrated as everyone else that we find it difficult to add the extra quality that might left us away from the bottom three, but ultimately in football it invariably boils down to money. We probably pay about half of what the likes of Wigan, Ipswich and Reading can throw at it. It is natural that players who have confidence that they can play at this level might wait until D-day to see whether or not they can get a better deal than we can offer. What the hell is Paul Warne supposed to do about that?
If anybody wants to see what real failure looks like, take a trip to the Proact Stadium. It is about half way between Rotherham and Derby.
yep. It might be better to look at the performance thus far as a real positive. Its true that a realistic evaluation of our chances at the start of the season was to finish a point above relegation. Thus far we are achieving beyond expectation.
I am wondering if any of you have filled in the EFL questionaire?
I just completed it and it made me really think about the prioritising of my club and football in general.
I found myself being much more grey and leaning toward sustainability and community considerations than results. I think that is because I realise and feel community and belonging is much more than winning. Indeed, it made me remember that winning is having a positive bond to the town and club and community through your love and loyalty to the club. Although I am quite unaware of the projects RUFC are involved in I do get the real sense via bits of information that the club has achieved a huge amount in engagement and improving the connection to the club-town.
Despite our stalled efforts on the pitch the profile of our club and community is positively impacted by what TS has done. No doubt about that. Indeed, he is a stand out chairman. Perhaps one of the very best. I think when I stand back and look at NYS and take a historic view then we can be continually proud of the club, the ground, and the slight increase in support. The clubs partnership with local charities, and social and health partners seems to me to be excellent.
I would love to see the club extend that further. Go out to more and more schools, and workplaces and give presentations and some free tickets etc. engage in a Rotherham lottery, increase the profile of local communities.
At the end of the day I feel most proud when I walk to the ground and see my brothers and sisters exercising the same right and loyalty and when the club representatives are helpful and friendly and drawn from the local community. That is winning for me. That is success.
I am negative you are correct GWRU but I am also right, and you wear rose tinted glasses and just do not want to see the truth. I agree I will keep my opinion until after 11pm and I hope that we do not sell Ajayi, or rely on Yates or bid for a player from Millwall with only 7.5 hours to go when we have had months to plan and had a list of 7 before 1st Jan.........let us see.
No I do not want RUFC to fail, I want it to succeed, it will not do that with some of the people at the club that are there now
I am sorry but that 3pm update was pathetic, read the comments. He is still obsessing about they have to buy into what he is doing, NO NO NO as long as they are not criminals who gives a crap. Ask the fans warne ask the fans do we want a team that wins games or one that loses but they all like each other.
It is pathetic he is an awful football manager, 2 years to build a team
“You've just witnessed me take a phone call with some bad news. It's been difficult for us this window because the players we're trying to get in have to be affordable, available and want to come.
So our recruitment team leave it to the last day to check price and availability????????????? and they are still employed
TS states money is not the blocker and we have never had a budget, do PW and TS talk to each other before they talk to the media? They contract each other all the time,
two failed transfer windows on the trot, 2 years and the squad is not good enough, players kicked out for not saying their prayers, tactically inept coaching team, no away wins at this level, no goalscorer in the team, he chooses Yates over Ball (that alone is a sackable offence), he will take us down and the losing mentality will sit in this club next year.
