TBH do the club deserve St holders loyalty when we fans are being misled & lied to at the end of Every transfer window? Warne is trying his level best with his hands tied even though we all wish he could be more adventurous with his team selection/tactics etc but the Head of Recruitment post is a joke, we Are preparing for L1, we Will be relegated due to under ambition & woeful under investment. On one hand I applaud TS for his Insistance on keeping the club on a sound financial footing but I have to criticize his public "PL ambitions" rhetoric which builds up hope in the happy clapper & knuckledraggers but insults the intelligence of the rest of us. A season of L1 Mediocrity would be perfect for Warne in order for him to develop more than one style of play, bri g in more realistic targets & build on the team spirit that evidently exists now so when we laun h another promotion push we are better prepared both on and off the field for our next push at the second tier.
Agree with all that Brad. Except, look at Chesterfield, Orient, D&R etc... all clubs that had a chance of better things but rather than being a platform for long term better things, relegation and failure to grasp opportunities is MUCH MUCH more likely to end up with demise and failure... like it did for them.
TS is a businessman, but year after year fails to treat the club we all love like a successful buisness..
Our opportunity, his opportunity, is here and now ... but we see no sign of investment to keep us up, and to keep the buisness of RUFC successful in the long term...
Still 4th from the bottom after Bolton draw with Reading. Need those 2 signings, not squad players. 1st choice players. One thing we've definitely got something to play for. I've not given up, far from it. Sure most of the players haven't. Don't think Vaulks has got it in him to give up.
In my eyes TS is no different to Boothy in a business way,
Boothy pumped millions into RUFC every season, but RUFC still rent the stadium off RUFC Estates, which both businesses have the Stewart family as directors,
Same business arrangement as when Boothy when he was the owner of RUFC.
So even though we have a nice stadium the money is just not there!!! So my question is - WHERE is the money !! we haven't spent a lot.
I know we have FFP rules to take into consideration, but we make more money albeit slight lower than SWFC on hospitality alone.
Am i missing something here, but is TS taking money out of the business to the detriment of the squad, which to me is the main earner and also the main cost, perversely.
I am sure i have got it wrong, but we cant go on like this, something has to give.
I'd love to know how much influence the lady accountants (2 of them?) in the organisation have on the purchase (or non-purchase) of new players. Anybody know anything about them ?
Usual last day In the transfer window more chance me winning the lottery tonight than any players coming in tomorrow.
I just wish the club would tell us the truth if there is no money so be it not the old story we tried only thing that is doing is trying my patience.
If l was Warney I would resign over the situation how the hell is he going to keep us up with no strike force in the end he will take the can for this you can't fire a gun with no bullets.
I dont understand it. We scrap to get to the Championship and then do very little to stay there; it really doesn't make sense, particularly when being in the Championship will generate more income especially next season. Ok, I accept it costs more to stay there and that we are a little fish in a big pond and we don't have the financial clout to be a big player in the league. But. Any business needs to invest to either stay ahead or at least abreast of your competitors, but we seem, yet again to be trawling the bargain basement for signings and coming up with the same level of player or no one at all, each and every time.
I admire TS' resolution to maintain a sound financial foundation…I get that, I really do, but spending little or nothing when we are already at the bottom of the investment heap gives us less than a sporting chance. We are just a points donor for the big boys.
TS said after gaining promotion last year that as a club we were now in a better position then our previous tenure, but nothing has changed either on or off the pitch. I would like at least to have seen an active youth policy as part of future planning, but I may be wrong but I see no evidence of that either .
As is often said TS is a very successful and wealthy business man, but I don't expect him to throw his money down a bottomless pit, but I do expect something. Success in the lighting business is one thing; everyone from domestic to industry, we all need lighting. Football, while a business is a very different kettle of fish, its an entertainment business. Entertain and you've got a winner try to get by on the cheap and you'll soon be found out.
Worcester Miller makes some interesting parallels re Boothy's tenure as Chairman and I would also agree with his last point.
A Miller since 1959, I can't bear to look at the results, I still don't know the Ipswich or Brentford result and I only spotted the Leeds result by accident. Theres hope yet I suppose but my old ticker can't take the agonising anymore we are still a what we were 40 years ago, we just rent a new stadium thats all
