Hull apparently linked with Smith . I can see him.leaving as he may be guaranteed playing in a team that links up him better and gives Tony a nice return to not invest in the team
Thoughts
My thoughts are (1) that the opening post is very cynical, and (2) that if any other Championship club is serious about taking any of our players there isn't going to be much we can do about other than get the best fee we can and reinvest it as wisely as possible. The likelihood is that if Hull wanted Smith they would triple his wages. Would we stop him leaving and how motivated would he be after that?
I agree that for the right price, the team is always bigger than any one player, but ONLY if we have replacements or cover.
Warne's tactics (Plan A awith no Plan B by his own admission) are simply - hoof it to Smith and prey... (or 4-5-1 if you prefer to put a label on it)
So - without Smith, and with our current squad... our formation will be 5-5-0.... a challenging formation for any team to win a game of football I would suggest....
We have an absolutley shocking record of letting players go for peanuts and not managing to sign our own transfer targets... so it probabaly WILL happen... :( :(
It's time the club gave us something to feel good about... but I don't expect it.

If the money is right sell him build for next season no club around can keep players.
We have been here many times before the club will survive can't blame the players it is a short career a shorter one if you get injured. Only loyalty is to your wallet lets be honest if any of us were in that position we would do exactly the same.
Brentford today sold their defender Mepham for £12m. They can bank that with the fees they have received over the years for players like Andre Gray, James Tarkowski, Ryan Woods, Moses Odubajo, Scott Hogan, Jake Bidwell, Jota, Harlee Dean, John Egan. A total of approx. £65m for that bunch. Not to mention several others who have gone for £1m or £2m.
How much would they get for Maupay if they sold him? Top scorer in the Championship - has to be worth £15 to £20m.
That they got into that virtuous circle about four years ago explains the difference between the two teas that we saw on Saturday. They don't stop players leaving, but they recruit well, sell for the right money and reinvest it properly. Their track record probably means that young, talented players love going there - they can see it is a real stepping stone to really big things.
It isn't an easy place to get to, but we need to aim to get something similar going. There is no other way for us to compete at this level.
The usual situation with us no information to the fans agents in control of the situation.
It looks to me that we are floundering nothing happening in recruitment all we seem to get is cast offs.
It is coming to the point were clubs like us will loose our fan base after Saturday's performance people will not be walking out we will have a job getting them to walk in.
I am expecting nothing to happen this week may be even worse if Smith were to go. Who would we play up front only Yates fit there's always Taylor. WE thought it was bad enough last week we were wrong.

I'm still hoping for something... but not expecting anything..
If it happens like you predict I'm gunna think twice about next years season ticket certainly... and I think many others will
But as I say, I'm still hoping whilst there are days left in the month

We've already proven that Yates doesnt cut the mustard at this level and if he is our answer if we sell Smith then God help us. Cant play hoof ball to a midget - need a big lump. I'll go for the previous posters 5-5-0 strategy if we have a choice.
I will nail my colours to the mast it doesn't bother me what league we are in I will get another season ticket while I am well enough to go if you want to throw your toys out of the pram it's up to you The way some of you are talking it's the end of the world I enjoy going if you support your local team accept the ups and downs at least it's not boring.

Not as a lone striker but I thought Yates looked more like a player since last time I saw him. Sooner have him than Taylor in the side. Could even try him in midfield. I'm at the New York stadium next season whatever. Not given up this season yet. If we are going to sign someone want it to be with a pulse. Not approaching 30 or over.
