The result we did not want and from the report on Dee Dar not the one we deserved. If you are to be relegated this is what happens you don't get the breaks it's beginning to look a bit bleak. I don't want to sound negative but hello division 1. I was talking to one of my neighbours who goes to a lot of away games and we lack a bit of quality need a goal scorer. He also mentioned that he enjoyed it more in division 1 and had to agree with him. I can't see us getting more than 40 points we will not get an away win. I always try to be positive but after the result today WE ARE DOOMED.

Unbelievably we are still 4th from the bottom. Crooks, Towell available next Saturday. If we could get one player in for then would be a left winger. Keep going while the fat lady sings. But as I've said before we won't win nothing with Taylor & Forde in the side but we all know that apart from Warney. Not been today but also where's the cover for CB? Before end of this window I'd be looking to replace Vyner unless he's suddenly become a RB.
Where do we go from here just got to hope we bring in a forward who can score and a wide man who as got a goal in him.
Long journey home for those long suffering fans who go to away games.
Getting rid of the manager is not the answer I can't think of anybody who would do a better job with the financial restraints placed upon them but if do go down he will have to fall on his sword.
I wish we could turn it around it's games like today that make or break you and the penny will be dropping that that relegation looms.
Still getting my season ticket for next season all you millers stay positive this is what it's like watching RUFC even the bad times are good a quote from a song.
Can’t disagree with that Derby. Since the opening day hammering at Brentford PW has been fixated on defence. He obviously believes with the quality of players we have that tactic is our only chance of survival.
For an unbiased view I would recommend the following:
One bit of good news Blackburn have beaten Millwall we are still in with a chance of staying up. Always look on the bright side of life. Do some more business in the transfer window this week and have a go at it. The song even the bad times are good by the Tremalos 1967 showing my age.
Warney is without doubt a good human being, his words. He doesn't like to ruffle many feathers. We have the basics of decent side but problems we've had all season are keeping us teetering on the bottom 3. Vyner & Raggett aren't our players, need better in those positions. Ihiekwe is back on bench why? he couldn't handle it in league 1 play-offs. This is harder. Forde we tried to loan him out end of the summer window, how's he got back in the side? Sort it out then we might have a chance.
Cant moan too much about the result or the league position as its what I expected given all the facts. The thing is that PW is under real pressure and Im not sure hes quite above it at the moment. Results are rarely wrong and I think this one was exactly right. I dont remember a game in recent memory where Ive thought that the result wasnt a product of the causes and conditions of the ability of the team. Indeed, its very had to make a rational argument that would qualify as being unjust or unfair-whatever you prefer.
What is always troubling and fair opinion is the response of the team, manager, fans and chairman, etc.
The Fans:
Well, we are a small club and the negativity somewhat outways the positivity. I think that that is about right given our objective status. The only vignette against that is that the last several years have been far and away our most exciting and productive. If you disagree then I think all of your thinking is fantastical and hopelessly wayward. There hasnt been a better period for us. The only rival to this opinion is if one wishes to time travel back 60-70 plus years ago, which cannot rightly be compared with the present, and, notwithstanding the fact that there is probably no eye witness alive to compare the two eras.
The chairman:
Difficult to criticise without running into a beautiful and giant wall-the facade that is NYS. Secondly, under his ( I dare say it) stewart-ship we have been successful. The stadium, local partnerships and team should make us all continually proud. The one moan is his somewhat unsupported and more than enthusiastic statements over the years about financial competitiveness and massive antigravitational miraculous acts of upward motion.
The Team:
The actual men on the pitch have been outstanding. I doubt anyone would seriously criticise them for effort and guts. It is not apparent how one would critique quality as this is rarely within players actual ability. Hard work and application is a response to more pliable qualities. Quality is less apparently so.
The manager:
Only here do I find some clear responsibility albeit tethered by the above 2 conditions. The thing that leaves the manager more vulnerable is that there is more responsibility on that single individual than all the other pieces. He ( maybe she next time!) buys the players, picks them, arranges and orchestrates. The conductor is responsible for several things: tempo, the "intelligence" of the "team"; to respond to and interpret the music, and perform or execute (carry out) the conductors (managers) pre-performance rehearsals. The individual musicians (players) follow the signal and timing and "cadence" of the baton, which is the heart and mind of the conductor.
After the performance, it is never enough to say I cannot fault them for trying. Nor can one rightly say that we deserved more (of what?). A good manager, conductor or editor has to take responsibility squarely. Not defensively, begrudgingly, or with platitudes. As is often stated the sentiment that ' one wouldn't get away with that in the real world' is a reasonable starting position. No matter the job or service or condition changes have to be applied when results fall below yesterdays expectations. And, in this specific case, it is reasonable to begin to do that. While the talent of the musicians may be obvious the music that is heard and felt (wholly experienced) is not. A great deal can be amended by the conductor, manager or Parent that influences the hereditary or acquired status or stable expression of the host. As is rightly now widely recognised, we are neither the product of nature or nurture, but an indefinable moving body of apparatus of continuous flow and response to both local and cosmic cues-all of which is heavily, and I would argue consistently prompted, signalled and installed by PW.
The last word. His style of leadership will always be the most contentious melody. You pay the piper...but that may be another story altogether.
I have lèarned over the years just support your team all we have had is one bad result nothing new. I have seen us in a lot worse spots than this it is not the end of my world. A least the owls lost.
And Leeds United will win promotion? Well, according to Cllr Judith Blake they will, according to her tweet on Twitter. That doesn't alter the fact that we aren't able to recruit quality players for fear of breaking the bank and as a consequence upsetting the existing playing staff by offering new recruits stellar wages.
The Owls have a massive problem to resolve. They have always been massive. More massive than the Massif Central.
They scored from their only shot on target after the lad scuffed his first effort and it dropped for him perfectly. We had all of the best chances in the game and couldn't make them count. Our chances generally came from weight of pressure rather than any inspired play. We can feel frustrated, aggrieved and even a bit unlucky not to have got at least a point but the bottom line is this. Against the best teams in this division we have to hang on and rely on hard work and a bit of luck to get a point here and there. Against the poorer teams we tend to fluff our lines because we haven't quite got the quality to put them away. I'm not blaming the chairman, the manager or the players for any of the above. It is all a product of the financial state of football. I have always said that while ever I see decent people giving 100% for the club I will support them and I don't believe they could be trying harder than they are. I am proud to support them. For sure, we need to add quality in certain areas where we are consistently falling short and I am sure all that can be done on that front is being done within our financial constraints. That has been covered on other threads. It won't be easy because as soon as another Championship club is interested we are likely to miss out. Remarkably we are still above the relegation places and it's still all to play for.
I wouldn't change places with Ipswich by the way on any level. Not only are they still seven points behind us, but they gave a dilapidated stadium and are estimated to be around £90m in debt. They are still paying players twice what we are, but where is it getting them? No thanks.
Having seen a lot of relegation battles this one we are still in with a chance of stopping up. Crooks and Towel to come in next week hopefully another striker anybody heard anything. At least the club are trying to bring new faces in suprised we are still 4th from bottom at home we have a chance against anybody.
In Warneys defence players out only one decent striker but still we are having a crack at it. If he can bring in the players he wants and the players back from injury who knows UTM.
Totally agree with smiler and everything he says about yesterday and the predicament the club are in. There is no doubt in my opinion that these players and coaching staff are doing everything they can to keep this club in the championship.
In the second half yesterday we threw the kitchen sink at them but it was clear we just lack that bit of quality in the final third. A lot of crosses were poor, shots at goal didn't make their goalkeeper work and as Smiler said it was pressure rather than quality play that chances were created. I don't like finishing on a negative but what was also clear in my opinion was that these two sides were not very good and in terms of quality it looked more like a division one game. I will not be surprised if we meet in that division next season.
Keep saying this - we don't have goal scoring midfielders, some might like to think they are but when it comes down to the moment in a game in front of 20-30k fans - we haven't got it. Having 2 or 3 who can in a 5 man midfield matters more than a striker. Football is played 4-2-3-1 these days, the 3 score goals, well in our case they don't and that's why we struggle.
I don't believe we aren't in the market for them either, Frecks, Agaard, Pringle and many more we've had fairly recently could all bag a goal once in a while, we had the budget then for it so why not now?
Back in the 90s we spent £220k? in one summer in the now L2 on Don Page and Tony Cunningham. That was a lot of money back then even for us, TC also only had 1 good season left in him...but the fact remained that 'investment' got us promoted.
If British players are too expensive, why aren't we looking abroad?
We need to start scoring and soon, it's blatently obvious to everyone the team needs help.
