Up next it's the Tractor Boys v The Mighty Millers - Predictions

It's been a long time since rock 'n roll.

Ooops, nearly lapsed into a Led Zeppelin number there.

What I mean to say is, it's been a long time since I started a predictions thread.

After last weekend's outing in Manchester it's back to the Championship where we take on Ipswich Town once managed by

our very own Paul Hurst. Early indications are,   we are  due for at least a draw  to steady the ship before we get back to

winning ways back home on our hallowed turf at the NYS.

Bring it on home, bring it on home to me.  More Led Zeppelin there just to add some zest.

Ipswich are signing players we sign none business as usual at NYS fear the worst on Saturday. Warney writing in the Star first he says he is bringing players in then says none with what happened last Sunday us supporters deserve better. Let's see some action.

Couldn't stand the pretentious Zeppelin. In the words of the best band of the early 70's the Faces a midfielder & left winger " that's all you need " for the Ipswich game. See Lambert is doing some business there incl' Quaner on loan from Huddersfield. Says he's a winger. Hope he's not a left winger cause we haven't got a right back.

Ipswich have got three over the line and looking to sign a fourth. Quaner from huddesfield, played 25 times in premiership and played a fair bit in second tier of German league. He is a winger. Callum Elder a full back from Leicester. Never featured for Leicester and Will Keane from Hull, a non prolific striker who was on loan once at Wednesday. Reading are also active in the loan market and look like they could be lining up Baker from Leeds.
We are still to sign anybody. Plenty of rumours and apparently we are getting two in before the Ipswich game. Think one will be Ryan Yates from Forest who we have been after for a while. A striker from Cardiff has been mentioned. Not Ward, who went to hospital after the game at Gillingham with a cheek injury. I wouldn't say no to ward because he played some of his best games for us going down the left channel up front.
My prediction for the ipswich game is 1-1 if we get another midfielder in. If we do not then 1-0 defeat.

Looking a bit late to bring anyone in this week I know I am repeating my self but get Marquis and Yeats in. Seen a rumour we might be signing Vyner on permanent I know he is not everyone's favourite but he has improved as the season has gone on. It would free up a space for another loan. January same as usual for us scratching around for a few crumbs

Midfield & left wing is were we need strengthening in time for Ipswich. Not squad players, players who can come straight in. As Yates played any football this season, sure he's not been out on loan. But he's only young so shouldn't take much getting fit.

Not too impressed with Ipswich signings. Agree that every club needs to try and improve but the proof is in the pudding. They may gain a boost from 5 new signings. equally, they may fall flat and give up the ghost. They have definitely improved over the last few games and I expect this might go one way or other.

I think a draw is the most unlikely of the 3 possible results.

They are going to push strongly for a win and have scored recently. They will start or have a few new changes for the first time since August. We are slightly off form but still balanced enough to compete for a win against them. I think the new blood and the importance of this game will push it over into a more energetic game.

Ipswich are fairly desperate. OK, they've got some bodies in but are they good signings? Quaner hasn't played a minute for anyone this season as far as I can see. Their signings aren't likely to be match fit and they have got to knit together as a unit. I daren't predict anything for this one. We mustn't lose it. Any away win for us against anyone is a bonus.

If we sign Vyner i'll have to question my own judgement as a football analyst ! I think he's awful and has cost us any amount of points this season.

Here here splinter but PW won't have a bad word said about him. Is anyone really surprised with no transfer activity yet? It's worrying but not altogether surprising.

Couple of points. If we sign any of our loan players I don't count that as a signing, they are already here. I agree we haven't got a right back fit/good enough.

From Sunday why did Forde & Taylor start. Why not give Hinds a game. When I saw him & Wiles in the checkatrade last season couldn't spit them. Both looked to have a future. You can tell with young players, they were the best two we've brought through since Brogan.

Probably because Hinds is a full back. The number of times I've seen you complain about playing players out position, I'm surprised you would want a young full back to get his full debut playing on the wing.

Cause unless Newell plays we haven't got a left winger

In a game like that it must be better to get an experienced right footed winger to play on the left wing than to play a kid out of position. If you think otherwise gwru fair enough. Interesting that Man City often choose to play left footed Mahrez on the right and right footed Sterling on the left. It can work. Right footed Thierry Henry did his best work pulling out wide left. Left footed Salah does a lot of his best work from the right. It just poses a different sort of threat and if used well can be just as effective.

All these players yv mentioned had or have better class prem' players round them. Williams good on the right but never in the game on the left. Taylor & Forde aren't wingers but on the left how we play they have to go on the outside most times then they can't cross with their left foot. Am I wrong.

Not so much wrong as missing the point.  We could have a discussion about whether left footed players work on the right and vice versa (all I am saying is that there are plenty of examples where they do - I've given some high profile ones but there are lots of others).  But to give a kid who has only played first team football against Chesterfield reserves his real debut out of position away against arguably the best club side in the world just because he is left footed would have been daft.  In my opinion.

Not when everyone else we've tried apart from Newell who I wouldn't start in away games anyway hasn't worked. Then most times we end up with Williams in midfield which as never worked. A game that didn't matter would have liked to have seen if Hinds has progressed. We've waited too long for Wiles when I can't see nobody else apart from Vaulks deserving his place in midfield.

 GWRU,

I dont know if your Yates question is tongue in cheek? But he scored 6 in 23 appearances for Carlisle and they were sad to see him be recalled.

I looked at Yates in the warm up last week, and he is a bit more muscular in the leg department than what he was before, i notice things like this, i did the same with Agard when he went from Weedy winger in Lg2 to a bulky muscular winger in LG1.

I reckon Yates/Smith up front on Saturday.

I haven't seen Vyner do anything that's impressed me. He seems short of a yard and his awareness it poor and in every way, Mattock is significantly better. We just need a steady Eddie and Vyner is all fingers and thumbs.

Its entirely possible Worcester that Yates will be on the bench with Vassel. Are we going 442 because I don't think Yates has it in him to play any deeper and I wouldn't pull Smith around to feed yates? It would be by far the boldest move and I don't think PW will do it.

I hate to say it, but it has to be a conservative and well-drilled performance against Ipswich and go with what we have and only use yates and/or vessel if the game goes away from us.

I think Im just having a hot flush thats all.
