Remember looking at the fixtures for December & early January think that there's an opportunity to get some points off teams in & around us? Going well aint it?

Just watched highlights on Quest. Taylor should have put one of those two chances shown away. Would say Jones 2nd booking was an away booking, think at home he'd have had a better chance of getting away with it. Might have been abit harsh: Jones earlier. He hasn't been playing, looks fit enough but can't have the match sharpness. Let's get behind the side New years day.

Also now seen the brief highlights. The first Taylor chance yesterday he got on target but it was a very comfortable save. The second that scraped past the post wasn't struck cleanly. You could argue he was unlucky but neither were convincing efforts at finishing. Jones was unlucky to get the second yellow but his first yellow was all of his own making so he left himself vulnerable. Towell's red was totally deserved. You can't lunge two-footed into the back of a blokes legs when the ball is five yards away. He did the usual hands on head thing that he does when his thirty yarders fly into the seats, but why he was surprised to see red I've no idea. It was strange that we didn't have a second striker - not even he young lad Lewthwaite - on the bench. I wonder when Proctor became unavailable and how injured he really is.

Just watched it too... couldn't bring myself to watch it last night...

I don't think we would ever get a foul given for Jone's second yellow... it was at worst 50/50 and their player had his arms all over Jones. Very Very Harsh... and as I say - we don't get those sort of decisions in our favour.. ever..

It changed the game - so I'll put this loss down to the Ref, apart from the ongoing issue of us not having a goal scoring forward...

Need to get at least a point on NYD, a win would be a good lift... UTM

Towell out might be a good opportunity. He was decent last season but this season hes a jack of all trades master of none. At least Vaulks can fire in a long throw and ocassionally snap the net off. Towell for me has got big headed thinks he's better than he is.

We need a goalscoring midfielder in January, get one and we'll stay up, don't get one and I fear the worst. I would also like to see Taylor within 5 yards of Smithy permanantly not stuck out on the left where he's a waste of time. Taylor given enough opportunities will bag more goals than anyone else in our team. Forde just isn't good enough for this level, he's a poor mans Towell who can take a corner that's it. Let Williams off the leash, when he's full of energy and pressing, he lifts the team, no good doing that out on the wing either, give him more of a free role

You are going for attack as our best way out of this then Exeter are you ? Taylor close to Smith up front, Williams in a free role (he has played in the hole with not a lot of success) and a goal scoring midfield player. That would need to be some new midfield player to play that way.
We have played a defensive formation all season with a midfield five and i believe that has got us the points we have. On the couple of occasions we have played with two up front we lost both games. I think Forde is a decent squad player and is the best defensive wide man in the club and with better offensive players around him would be o.k. He is not a winger who is going to pass players for fun get to the by line and pull it back. If given space he can deliver a telling cross.
Our best performance of the season was against Sheff Utd where we forced their wing backs back and pressed. I still think Taylor and Williams wide with a midfield player getting forward (Wiles instead of Towell on Tuesday) and play a couple of holding midfield players(possibly Vaulks and ajayi) My side for Tuesday would be
4:2:3:1.
Rodak

Vyner Raggett Robertson Mattock

Vaulks Ajayi

Williams Wiles Taylor

Smith.

Palmer & Forde the two players to leave in January. Out of wide players Taylor is the most likely to get us a goal. But it's were to play him. Definitely not on the left. My side for the Preston game playing players in there natural positions Rodak; Vyner Ajayi Robertson Mattock; Taylor Wiles Vaulks Manning Newell; Smudger

You are leaving Williams out gwru, who i believe is our best option at getting at teams. I would be worried about the lack of bite in midfield in your team. Only three clubs have let more goals in than us in the league. Preston are one. i think we will concede on tuesday because they tend to score as well as letting them in. I will go for a score draw.

whiston01 Taylor or Williams right wing. It's the only place both of them can play. Can't have either on the left. Can't have Williams in midfield. Manning gives us balance, don't think he was our worst player against WBA. Newell is better starting in home games. Hopefully for the Ipswich game we'll have a wide left sided player in.

Seen the Jones sending off no way was it a yellow card as I have said in an earlier post when you are a club in our position things go against you. Preston is a must win game it's a bit like when we played Burton Albion a couple of seasons ago the writing is on the wall if we don't get 3 points from it. Heard a rumour a Preston are interested in Smith see if he plays on Tuesday going for a 2-0 to us got to be right one day.

I like Whiston and Exeter's talking tactics a lot, but when I look at the team it worries me too much. I like Forde, would drop newall and if Williams is going anywhere near centre mid then Id have a panzer division behind him.

Its strange how we all see things differently. I think Taylor is an awful finisher. I would never fancy him to finish a one on one with a keeper. I remember his excellent finish at Portsmouth but so many times when he gets a chance he loses his composure and scuffs or snatches a shot. He sometimes reminds me of a youth player trying to shoot with an oversized ball. His valuable goal against Sheff Utd was a mis-hit that was deflected. I always think Forde is such a negative selection. He is most notable for not being bad at anything, but my view is that when we play one up front (which we have to do to have any hope of getting points) we can't afford to carry a wide player who offers next to nothing as an attacking threat. I watch him when a full back closes him down and he appears to have no idea how to get past one. I am yet to understand what he is actually good at. Doing the best I can, he delivers a decent dead ball or cross given time and space to do so. And I respect his famous discipline. For me though he would never be first choice on either wing. I wonder whether he might make a decent full back. But they are just my perceptions. I know fellow Millers who would have Taylor as the first name on the team sheet. I know a Blade who has seen him once - against them - and wants them to sign him. We paid good money for him. He is certainly quick which at least makes him a threat. And Ian isn't alone in rating Forde. It is as if we are watching totally different players. Fortunately, what we think doesn't really matter.

I think we do not have a natural finisher at the club, the best finisher is at Bradford and I would bring him back. Play behind smith and put pace out wide. I would move to 3-5-1- 1
