JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW

I'm beginning to go into depressed mode from two seasons back.... For F**ks sake RUFC, give us something to hang our hope of survival on.... :( :(

11 days in and no positive action. I am getting fed up of being misled by TS and PW. People say we have to back them and support them yet they give us nothing new to justify that faith. Every game we play without strengthening the team means we increase the chance of relegation

Reading a link posted by someone on MM, the average player wage in the Championship is almost £25K a week. I'm given to understand our top end wages are in the region of £6K a week. It can't be easy for us to bring in Championship quality players if they are the financial realities. Let's face it if another Championship club is interested we are likely to miss out. If you were a player and we were looking, would you not wait and have your agent use what is left of the window to see if another club comes in? Or (more likely) tout you around? I suspect that is why anybody worth having (who will improve in what we've got) is difficult to get through the door, and why most our business is done during the last few days. Loans are different because the player gets the same every week, but parent clubs will look to see who can pay the biggest chunk of it. In a nutshell, whilst I get as frustrated as everyone else at the apparent lack of activity, I am sure that all concerned are doing all they can, I suspect that it isn't easy for us to get early deals done.

Smiler - I suspect your theory is very close to reality.

The player we were signing,Colin Quanner from Huddersfield, has signed for Ipswich ! Warne will be off to the first decent manager's job that comes along.

yep! Spot on smiler. Although the transfer saga bears some resemblance to the housing chain the reality is that the players go to the highest bidder. In that sense, it's more like a slave market. How intriguing!

Im sure some of you saw the article citing the cost of all the championship teams. Needless to remind you all, but little old Rotherham was plumb last with a 6 million pound squad. I think Millwall was next with double the money.

I do feel like its rather pointless wishing for some mythic signing of outstanding quality. We aren't ever going to buy a good championship player. But that's ok. We rely on players coming into form for us and fitting into the style of play much more than most teams perhaps. After all, teams are formed not bought. Even the very best of the best took time to find a style and system to run with. New additions (even good ones) work out less than we notice I suspect.

Anyway, nothing dramatic or particularly happy will happen. We will hopefully get a few good pickings when the lions, vultures and beetles have their full, and the earth has just about obscured the dreadful fight for hunger. Forged in the fury of rejection and brought to life at the bosom of PW they will turn out to be undefeatable gladiators who reject the walk to freedom for honour and glory of their innate connection to the battle and the chance to teach their former slave masters a lesson.

Two goals at home should get you at least a point, usually all three. Several times we have conceded more than twice at home. It has cost us dear. WE NEED DEFENDERS!!! AND STRIKERS!!!! (AND MIDFIELDERS!!!)

Warne has been interviewed on Radio dee dar & he has confirmed what we all already knew namely nothing happening before the weekend. He's apparently hopeful on a couple of targets next week but I wouldn't hold my breath if I was him. #doomed

We might need two defenders for Saturday Smiler, because it looks like Ajayi and Robertson are massive doubts. Very poor run of luck with injuries.

Says hoping to get a forward in the weekend, not Leon Clark that's one bit of good news. No Hull bid in for Smudger. Warney said Ajayi & Robertson had knocks he didn't say they were massive doubts. Still have the same problems as last Saturday: Right back & Left wing. Right back? Left wing if we don't get this forward in I'd start with Yates. If I see Taylor's name there I will be on a downer before we start.

With all the uncertainty surrounding Brexit, it's very difficult trying to sign up players particularly those from the European continent. We will therefore have to look closer to home to ensure the smooth transition of a loan player from another club to ours. We will not even notice any difference to our style of play. There will be none as the loanee will be here to warm the bench for fear of getting injured. The loanee will make the odd cameo appearance in the last 10 minutes of a match when we're chasing the game at 2-0 down. Cynical? Not me. I'm forever the optimist.

Friday tumbleweed. I absolutely knew we wouldn't sign anyone this week & if we do sign anyone before the 31st that isn't an 18 year old on loan from a middling PL side I'll be surprised & delighted.
Listening to Warne's interviews especially concerning transfers etc he says the right things but in actual facts he knows we're fewked as I suspect we all do in our heart of hearts, even the happy clappers.

Agree another none event week tomorrows game looming up trying not to think about it another bashing and a mass walk out. I think Warneys days are numbered. Don't want him to go but I am afraid that's the way football works. Trying to think of somebody who could be the next man in the hot seat saw in the paper about Paul Scholes wants to get into football been running Salford at least he has had a few years running football from the bottom end learning his trade not spouting rubbish on Sky see Henry didn't last five minutes.

Mass walk out? Maybe that's what the club wants. A kick up the pants. I'm sure we'll try our best to hold Leeds to 0-0 at half time to avoid any walk out. It might be a different picture at full time. It's being so optimistic that keeps me ticking over.
UTM!
