Bolton, our first away victory!?

Just waiting to see if we have any money to bring anybody in if we don't I fear the worst. On Saturday no right fullback take Vaulks out to cover that position team that hasn't won away all season you don't have to be an Albert Einstien to work that one out. But you never know the football gods might be kind to us.

Re Dom Ball. Firstly, he is only getting in the Aberdeen team occasionally as a utility cover player in a team that is average in a poor league. Secondly, anyone who thinks he is a quality defender should have a quick look at the highlights from Aberdeen v Celtic on Saturday and in particular Celtics goals. Thirdly, I've seen him play in The Championship before. Pedigree or not, for us he wasn't good. Finally, bridges have been burned so even if I'm wrong in my assessment it is academic. He isn't coming back. Its a Clarke-Harris situation. As soon as his contract with us ends he will be free to find another club. In the meantime, he isn't on the payroll while he is at Aberdeen (unless we are still paying part of his wages, which may or may not be the case).

Still don't understand why the first L1 play off winning first team is still light years better in quality than anything we've been able to put together since?

I think you are being a bit harsh on Dominic Ball Smiler. He has started 15 games playing 1443 minutes and has also come on as a sub 8 times. You say the Scottish Premier is poor and you may be correct. My nephew who is in his fourth year at Aberdeen Uni believes Aberdeen are a better side than us and the top six in the league would hold their own in the English championship.
As for Ball playing in the championship, again i think it would be unfair to judge him on 13 appearances in a side that couldn't win an argument and playing alongside the likes of wilson, Kelly , Halford and Fry.
I agree that bridges have been burned but i also believe we have nothing to lose bringing in a player that can play the holding midfield role(who else have we got) and can cover at right back.
We seem to think Scottish football is Mickey Mouse stuff yet the last time the National sides met on June 10th 2018 it needed a Harry Kane goal in the 93rd minute to save our blushes. He is an option worth considering in my opinion.

All fair comment. I just see a lot of players who wouldn't get a game in the Championship thriving in the SPL. Players like Curtis Main who was at Donny. Stevie Malan who was in and out of Barnsley's relegation team is a first choice midfielder with Hibs. Scott Arfield released by Burnley walks into the first team at Rangers. Steven Naismith not wanted at Norwich but he's a star at Hearts. Stevie May at Aberdeen. Etc etc. I saw enough of Dom Ball. I thought he was awful. I saw Chris OGrady run past him at Burton and alarm bells started ringing and it went downhill from there. Just my opinion. I hope he goes on to have a successful career. I take your point though. I suspect that Celtic would do well in The Championship but struggle in the Premier League, but the majority of teams in there are probably League One standard.

I'll never support a 'better off in league 1' view.. it makes no long term business sense... and are we really saying as fans we NEVER want to be in the Championship with the dream of the Premier league???

The reason we are all supporters is to see our team win and succeed, that can only ever be fully achieved if we have the dream. If we have no dream we ought not to be supporters... in my opinion.

I think we have played generally OK. We need a striker to play alongside the excellent Smith, for me that is the priority, possibly a midfielder who can create... (I know I'll get crucified for saying this, but I don't see what Towell has to offer other than effort...)

I'm very disappointed how heavy Proctor looks compared with start of last year - he needs a Rocket...

We are not far off being good enough to stay up, apart from a few games, drawing or losing by the odd goal... I’m also encouraged by the players Warne has brought in so far this season and last… so I’d like to see 2 or 3 additions and stay up.

Missing the chances we've had has been by far our biggest issue... hence we need to spend any money we have on a striker as the main thing in January...

UTM..
