Wednesday predictions and thoughts

Wednesday, Down on their luck and obvious issues off the pitch, supporters down in the doldrums; Probably this is the best time to play them.

Emotions will run high I think because they will be niggled by their league form and won't want to be compared to Rotherham. So, when they line up I expect the game plan will be hard to stick too. Its crucial that We do stick to our plan however and drill home a professional performance. Got to get rid of all thoughts driven by emotion.

On the pitch we should clearly be a match for them but, not to get carried away. They are still better than us and have better players and are at home. Its easy to just consider our form and be pleased with it and think Wednesday must be much worse but they are still turning in performances and getting some results. Its a Derby and so the tempo on the pitch is going to stretch the game, especially with two evenly matched teams. I think this one could go either way. I dont fancy the draw.

I would start with:

Rodak

Vyner

Ajayl

Wood

Mattock

Vaulks

Williams

Trowell

manning

Proctor

Smith

Its the start of a very interesting period of fixtures that goes right through to January end. Every one of the fixtures looks like we can be in the mix for a bagful of points. We could make a significant dent toward those 51 points. Lets hope we can get rid of the drawing habit for wins and keep the fantastic professional and passionate approach that has seen our team progress and in with a real chance of staying up.

Its early but, Christmas starts here.

Merry Christmas and lots of points now and forever. Amen.

I'd have Robertson for Wood Got Raggett back also but don't know if he's ready for 1st team football. All I want to see is players played in their natural positions. Williams on the right. Not right sided players on the left. Rodak; Vyner Ajayi Robertson Mattock; Williams Wiles Vaulks Towell Manning; Proctor Game we can win. But like most games there's a chance of one of 3 results.

Ian, My team is as follows, and i think we should play 4-1-3-2

Rodak

Ragett Ajayi Robertson Mattock

Vaulks (DM)

Williams Towell Palmer

Proctor Smith

-------------------------------

Then drop back to 8-2 if we go 3 nil up LOL.

Wednesday predictions. It's now Wednesday. Who are we playing on Wednesday?
If we were to play a 8-2 formation, we would be overrun in midfield. Surely?

I think some of us are a little chomping at the bit to see someone in the box with Smith on a more regular basis-well, I am.

Its age that makes me cautious I think even though Id like to see Proctor take the prime position with Smith as partner. I dreamt of SAS last night : sutton and shearer; PAS? SAP? Not quite right is it.

Anyway, Palmer makes me bubble. I really like him and tipped him to really become key, but he has gone really slow and what he has done has been marginal. I kinda like the look of the side with him in the side,  but do the results follow?

Good to see Raggert coming back. May be a game too early for him?

Anyone going to put their mojo to work and predict a result.

I just cant do it and although Ive gone for a home win on the prediction league, Im beginning to regret it.

What about Taylor In The Team? T. I. T. T.
Currently a well rounded and stand out player for me at the moment.

You can't fault Taylor for doing best he can but away games no. Never works. Home games it's only worked twice this season. Palmer & Forde not good enough. Said this before sooner have Hinds in front of them in the pecking order. Raggett if he's back could see Vaulks at Right back. Semi in midfield. Everybody would like to see 2 up front but we'd be going against what's got us were we are. 4-5-1. Proctor could be time to start him in place of Smith.

Wednesday are struggling, but they have players like forestieri, Bannan,Reach and Joao who would get into most championship sides. The problem appears to be the mangers tactics and the negativity around him. I really hope Forestieri misses the game as i see him as their main threat.
Most Wednesday fans believe they lack pace and their full backs are the worst in the league. With that in mind i think i would go with a similar line up to the Blades game and get our wide men pushing them back.

My Team would be if all fit is.
Rodak
Vyner Ajayi Robertson Mattock.
Williams Towell Vaulks Manning Taylor.
Smith

I would love to get wiles in but i would put him on if Towell or Vaulks tires. His time will come. I am going for a low scoring draw, possibly 1-1 with them equalising late on.

Good call wotsisname. I think I should have included him for width in the actual team, but he definitely deserves his start based on the abbreviation.

Gwru, I tend to agree with sticking with the cautious approach, but we just dont seem to score enough given our chances. Of course, we all know how it goes; Rob from peter and end up paying paul

Is that because Ian, everybody around him is moving faster as he is in a higher league.

I think after all the squad Warney and staff have done I'm sure they'll be relishing this one to show what little Rovrum are made of, that money doesn't always buy success and quality coaching, right mentality and focus of the staff and the players is worth far more on the pitch.

Would be amazing to get another win there

To be fair to Palmer, he hasn't really had many opportunities this season. Any player needs a run of a couple of games to get match fit and perform at full tilt. I thought he did very well against QPR for an hour, and whilst some might say that we sat back late on etc etc one possible other line of argument might be that we struggled to retain possession after Palmer went off. You don't have to be 6ft4in and lightning quick to be a good midfielder. Being comfortable on the ball and able to read the game goes a long way too. One of the best midfield displays I have seen against us this season was from Ryan Woods of Stoke who is tiny and not quick at all. I think Palmer has become a bit of a whipping boy and I'm not really sure he has done a lot wrong.

Never rated Palmer from 1st time I saw him for us. He looked ok in the friendly against Cardiff but when it matters never shown anything. Wiles got to be in front on him in the pecking order now. Sure Warney will be looking to get Palmer & Forde out of the club in January. Need a left sided player in the next transfer window. It's hard to make a case out for any we have started with this season.

Robertson & Newell sound like they'll be fit. Newell especially will give us some balance on the left. Williams on the right. Start with the right side we can win.

Last time we played the owls both games decisions went for them the late penalty and two players offside listen to them moaning if things go our way this time.

Gwru ,Would you play Newell on the left now you know he is fit instead of Manning who was in your original line up ?
Those who went to Norwich (i didn't) say Newell was having his best game of the season and was causing problems. I have said previously this time last season he started to up his game. Lets hope he is doing it again because he is our most talented left sided player.
I still have reservations about playing him tomorrow. He is the obvious choice out left but he lacks pace and i just think playing Taylor on the left flank like we did against the Blades might be our best option to start with. Taylor has had the week off i think he needs and he could be the man along with Williams on the right to get at their weak full backs. Glad to see Robertson is training today and i hope he can make it on Saturday because i like the centre back pairing of him and Semi. I will stick with my original team and a very tight 1-1 draw.

Taylor is the last resort at left wing. A fit Newell our best option there. Manning is not a wide player. Apart from taking penalty's not been involved that much. One thing I don't want is Williams anywhere else but on the right wing. He's too cavalier to play in midfield.

Wednesdays full backs are poor and their back four is very vulnerable to pace. I am not a huge fan of Taylor but his confidence should be high after the Sheff Utd game in which he was excellent. For those reasons although he isn't a natural on the left side I think I'd pick him there tomorrow. The rest of the side picks itself for me. So....Rodak: Vyner, Ajayi, Robertson, Mattock: Williams, Towell, Vaulks, Manning, Taylor: Smith. I'd ask Towell to sit on Bannon when we don't have the ball. Stop him playing and they haven't got much. If we can start quickly and get the first goal the crowd could turn on Wednesday very quickly.

Could be the case, and to be honest that was my firm conclusion the first few times I saw him. I began to change my mind when I noticed he wasnt involved enough in either key areas or acting defensively. For me he has to be very high up the pitch to get the best from him. Thats however means having some gifted players behind him to fulfil his lack of pace and power.
