Todays game

Its rare for me to start a thread, but I felt very proud today of the boys attitude throughout the game, and I thought we could have won that match had it not been for their goalie, and a bit more composure in front of goal. That said, Sheff U are no mugs and probably edged it first half with that bit extra quality. Second half we ran them into the ground

I thought Robinson was a standout for me with Taylor deserving his goal, Proctor too took his goal well and after what I saw today I think it would be a travesty if we didn't manage to stay up.

I don't get to many games these days what with travelling and costs etc and I don't think the old ticker could take that much PMT (pre match tension) on a regular basis. We're not far away now from being the real deal very pleased, very satisfied and going home happy. An exciting game of football.

A game we perhaps deserved to win and certainly didnt deserve to lose. A point looked good before the game and I wont necessarily change my mind.

A good all-around performance with some good individual play.

V sheff Utd might be my favourite game. Maybe its the amount of red and white.

Towell, vaulks and Taylor all did well and Duffy and of course Henderson for them.

It was a really great Derby and one that was played in a good competitve spirit.

N.B. Praise! praise! praise ! to Warne and the boys. Great effort thus far...Anything but a win on Tuesday will be very disappointing. Now is the time to win a game after so many (very good draws and performances).

That was a fantastic game. Both teams trying to win it, very competitive but no stupidity, full house and we were definitely the better side. Mixed emotions - relief at getting a late equaliser but disappointment that we didn't get all three because the performance deserved it. The further we get into the season the more we look like we are getting comfortable in the division. I agree with Towdlad that the overriding feeling is one of pride.

Who's Robinson Towdlad? Superb performance deserved all three points but relieved not to lose in the end.

We played excellent and a bit more composure in front of the goal we would be in the top half of this table. Funny thing about today was that every time ive heard Wilder on the tv or radio he talks about their high tempo killing teams - well they hung on for the last 1/3 of that game and we showed them how to play press football. I also thought their striker who came on did nothing but try and foul our players, he was a disgrace. Warney got the subs spot on too.

Taylor: I always say when I've got it wrong, he was good today. Manning was the weak link today. Rest can't fault them. As good as Taylor was today tues I'd have Williams starting on the Right, Newell on the left. Wiles in for Manning. Vaulks keep saying this, get his contract extended. He was up to his usual level today, high at this level.

Yes, i have been one of Taylor's sternest critics but today he had a good game. Agree with gwru that Manning struggled today. Rest put in a great effort.
The turning point was the bad miss of McGoldrick just before half time. A great effort by Vaulks to keep it out. In the first half we created a couple of chances but tended to hit it too long. In the second half it was just about the best i have seen us play. Finding space, winning all second balls and getting in their faces and putting them under the cosh. We then got undone by a little bit of quality in the last ten minutes but then show what this team is all about and hit back with an equaliser in added time.
You have to hand it to Warne for getting tactics and team selection right. I felt certain he would play Ajayi in midfield to try and stop them but he took the game to them and if there were any justice it should have been three points for us. A great effort and i am so looking forward to another stiff test on Tuesday night.

Glad we got at least a draw it would have been a travesty if we had lost today good to see Proctor score said on sky it was an easy goal but a good striker gets into them positions and makes it look easy. As I said in an earlier post Procter could be the player who gets the goals for us hopefully that goal gives him some confidence after his bad injury. Can't fault any of the players today Rotherham public get behind this team fill NYS with what Paul Warne has achieved in the last 2 years he deserves our support all those so called experts on sky wouldn't last a week at a club like Rotherham.

Yep cracking game, our performance opitomised what Warney has built and demands, and how he carries himself to the media, I'm not sure I can remember ever such a good spokesman for our club to the outside world. We've had media darlings but its fake and self fulfilling, I think its a great time to be a miller at the minute. The new TV deal next year will mean more money and TV exposure. If Barnsley can come back up 4 of our local teams in the Champ would be a season and half!

Taylor was brilliant for me today, and we seem to always play well when Williams does (and doesn't go missing). Our first goal cam at a time we were winning a fair few 1st balls and more importantly 2nds. That died off though and when they scored the second I didn't think we'd do it but for that daft mistake that Sheff Utd player not managing the game better, we got the bit of luck we deserved in the build up and really pleased for Procs.

Hoping a lot of haven't been in ages see that on TV and see what a refreshing different environment the club is now, players we can identify with, know your hard earned will be repaid with 100% will and effort and not going to get rolled over, and above all integrity.

Paul Warne and his staff are showing many others before them that they aren't fit to hold their hold their clip boards - its what proper coaching and working with what you have is all about.

I too think Proctor has more of a role to play.

Its speculation given both his injury and his record to hang too much on him, but cant help to notice we dont have a proctor style player and we do need just a few more goals. He seems to have the goods.

I thought he took his goal well. It was very sweetly struck and would have been easy to pull that wide or get too much air on it.

Warney said Taylor has to be in 100 per cent to play to his best. Yesterday will have taken the edge off him. Tues it's obvious we are not going to start with Wiles. 4-4-2 same keeper/defence Williams Vaulks Towell Newell; Smudger Proctor. Can't have Williams in midfield, he's too maverick to play there. In other words liable to lose the ball, put us under pressure. Could do with 3 pts with 2 away games after. Don't think QPR or Maclaren will like coming to the cold New York stadium. Let's make it as uncomfortable as possible for them. Players running out to a bigger than usual which they deserve home crowd would be a start, would lift the players.

I thought Vyner did OK yesterday. Not spectacular but pretty solid and second half pretty good going forwards. Worth a mention because he has been under pressure.

The big difference for Vyner yesterday was he didn't have a flying winger against him like he has had the last three games. I also thought he did well and passed the ball well especially in the second half. No sign of Jones yesterday. I presume he was the player who had the injury doubt that was talked about. Not the best bit of business we have done in my opinion.
I am not going to try and predict Warneys team as i seem to get the vibes wrong. I personally would go for the same ten if all are fit. Take your point about Taylor gwru but i feel he has to play after Saturdays performance. The obvious choice is to play Newel for Manning but look at Newell for their second goal. He was near to the two players but didn't cover and left Mattock to try and get the ball away which he had no chance. Thats what he his not good at,doing the hard work of the game. He's an impact player and not a ninety minute grafter. I still would go 4:5:1 with Taylor and Williams wide. I think he will start with Newell but if its a battle we are in i dont expect him to last much longer than an hour. Hope i am wrong but know Warne and co will have a plan A and B.

Agree about Vyner. Didn't do much wrong. Think Warney got it right having Williams on the Right to take the pressure off him. I know Taylor played well but Vaulks apart from not having his shooting boots on was immense. Just instinct keeping the score down to 0-1 before half time. A really good team performance by us.

Read in the paper this morning Wilder kept his players in the dressing room for over an hour after the match were not little roll over Rotherham like we were last time in this division the players are fitter better trained the one thing we are doing is playing higher up the pitch not defending all of the time just outside of our penalty box giving the opposition 70 yards to run at us. As for Sheffield United Corporal Jones in Dad's Army used to say they don't like it up em.

we were brilliant and I loved the game, Vaulks is a man mountain of a captain this is a good little squad with real passion

areas to improve (always things we can do better)

1. When players come back from international duty remember they may not perform to their best

2. at 1 -1 at home with 15 mins to go when you are on top, Paul please be a little bolder and try to get the winner not react to going behind

3. TS you need to come out and back your manager and let the fans know we will TRY to strengthen in early January

Vaulks keep saying it immense. Get his contract extended ASAP. I hear some b*ll*cks can't have Taylor Williams Newell together in the starting 11. Good side Warney has got together. Only Robertson new to this season who is the business. But one is better than none.

You're right gwru. You do keep saying it. Vaulks was good yesterday but so were many others. 'Immense' would be overstating it. If I had to pick a man of the match it would have been either Taylor (not always his biggest fan but he gave their right back a torrid afternoon) or Robertson (looking like a great signing). As for you hearing b******s - with respect you post more than your fair share. My opinion for Tuesday is that it will be the same team with the exception of Manning who is not eligible and as it happens wasn't at his best yesterday. The only question is who will replace him. I guess the options are (1) Palmer or Wiles straight in or (2) Newell or Vassell on the left and Williams central or (3) go 442 with Proctor or Vassell up top. You could make a case for any of the above. Its nice to have good options.

I personally don't like Williams in midfield. Doesn't always come off for him. Lose the ball there you see how quick sides break in this league. I'm going 4-4-2 as I've said, two changes Newell for Taylor Proctor for Manning. Wiles 1st change in midfield if it's not working. Taylor for Newell same.
