What a great game to win. We've had some bad luck lately and today we had the rub of the green with a couple of penalties that on another day wouldn't be given. Credit to Warne for changing it at half time which he had to do to stay in the game - we were being overrun. Fair play to Vyner who had a torrid first half (he was horribly exposed against a clever winger with real pace) but with a bit more protection he had a good second half. Credit to Manning for two superb penalties. All on all, we were thoroughly outplayed but stuck in there, got a bit of luck and got three very valuable points.

That was daylight robbery on our part, and I'll take that all day long. The number of times we have outplayed teams and lost must far outweigh results the other way round. Swansea are the best side to have visited us so far this season, and had they taken their chances, we would have been given a hiding. So well done to the lads for sticking at it, and eventually causing panic in the Swansea defence. Definitely a very important 3 points.

What did I say after the last home game Vassell never a winger. Taylor the same. Vyner even played better 2nd half with Williams on the Right. Newell did nothing when he came on to get his place back in the side. Williams on the Right, Manning on the left from now on. We can't not turn up in the 1st half & expect to get anything out of the game. Swansea won't know how they didn't take 3 pts from the game. Warney put my Lotto no's on tonight!

must have seen a different game to me. We clearly were the better team and Warne knew he needed two late penalties due to them being really really good after conceding 2. And stats dont lie: 2-1

At least Dick Turpin wore a mask. For 80 minutes we were awful. Mattock MOM? Not on your nelly, Robertson by a mile. I think we used a seasons worth of luck in one game but saying all that WHAT A RESULT!!!

At half time today I told people near me the reason we played bad was due to the wind they all laughed at me they weren't laughing at me at full time. How come Rodak didn't get man of the match he kept us in the game the first penalty was very soft but Manning knows how to take a penalty honestly I don't know how we won today hope our luck last the rest of the season we can't leave either of our right backs isolated as Vyner was in the first half. But we improved a bit near the end still a lucky win.

One of the worst performances of the season turned into one of the best wins.

Fair play to Manning, nerves of steel and the best finisher at the club. We’ve got away with it though, while ever we have Vyner/Taylor as a combination we will get mullered and the opposition quickly realise we are poor down that side.

I have to say that I think any criticism of Rotherham's performance is unjustified and it takes away from the fact that for 70 minutes Swansea were sublime and by far the best side that have visited NYS this season. On the skills front, no RUFC player could touch their opposite number and Swansea should have had the game in the bag by halftime. The fantastic thing about our team and our manager is that they never quit and their resiliance saw them presented with a couple of golden opportunities which Manning put away with aplomb. I can't ever remember leaving a RUFC before and having so much difficulty reconciling how on earth we had got 3 points. The whole afternoon was surreal but absolutely fantastic entertainment!

We made Swansea look good. We were that bad 1st half. Warney is an intelligent bloke, he'll have seen our shortcomings. Taylor, Vassell no more. Said this earlier this season time to get Wiles & Hinds involved. Wiles in midfield. Hinds on the left. Williams Wiles Vaulks Manning Hinds across the middle. Smudger up front. Need to freshen it up.

Ive said before gwru that i admire your strong views but your last post is too left field for even me.
Today we were outplayed for 75 mins by a very good side who were let down by poor finishing and at times an arrogance that they didn't need to show. They had pace, skill, passed the ball quickly and it was nothing to do with us making them look good. We didn't have the skill to stop them.
We have just drawn at Middlesborough and Preston and beat swansea, yet you want to put two young lads into midfield who have no or very little championship experience and also play one out of position. Bizarre. Taylor and Vyner struggled down the right today but give some credit to James who looked very good. I would give Taylor a break but Warne sees him as first choice on the right. Forde on the right would give Vyner a better chance because he is the best defensive right winger but it limits your attacking capabilities.
Towell has struggled in the last two games but he does have that extra energy in the middle when on song. We all know Vassell is in the wrong position but has put in some great work out left(Problem position as is right back). It reminds me of how Warnock played Derbyshire out left and did a job for us.
No need to panic and make drastic changes. We have to go to Blackburn and get in their faces and be difficult to break down like we were at 'Boro' So my team would be
Rodak
Vyner Ajayi Robertson Mattock
Vaulks Towell
Williams Manning Vassell
Smith

Was it Jimmy Greaves that used to say - " It's a funny old game " - well it certainly is. At half time we were at a loss to see how we could get back into the game. A difficult afternoon against a quality side. Oh for a Daniel James in our side. Credit to Paul Warne & Co for the substitutions they made. Putting Williams wide right helped Vyner out who had a difficult game for the second game running. Ryan Manning improved the set up and Proctor unsettled their centre-backs. Decent side Swansea, the best I've seen home or away. Onwards and Upwards to Blackburn......looking forward to it.

The player that turned the game in our favour and made their players make a few mistakes was proctor he should have come on earlier. They were outstanding their number 9 was a joy to watch

whiston01 agree Blackburn away not a game for young inexperienced players but not a game for Taylor or Vassell out wide. I'm thinking 4-4-2. Rodak; Vyner Ajayi Robertson Mattock; Williams Vaulks Towell Manning; Smith Proctor. Manning is more a midfield player than a wide player so still basically got 3 in midfield.

Swansea were good but we were giving the ball away, gave them the freedom of the park with James in the 1st half. It was a lesson, we got out of jail. Warney, coaching staff rethink required.

I agree with derbymiller when Proctor came on we started to pose them some problems hopefully he is starting to get match fit still don't know how we won yesterday it's a good day when we win and deedars lose I know where I live they will not be happy puppies.
Blackburn on Saturday we are long overdue an away win chance to get 20 points before the next international break.

Warne was dead right to change it at half time. Without that change to get an extra body in midfield we would have lost badly. Staying in the game and making it hard for them is the way for us to go against these sides. Either of Taylor or Vassell (or both) could have made way at half time in my opinion. Proctor made a nuisance of himself when he came on and we got a couple of gifts that we worked hard to earn, but still didn't really create a genuine chance in open play. That still needs work. We can't keep relying on set plays. I'm afraid that Taylor doesn't do it for me at all. I don't remember seeing a winger that quick beat a full back so rarely, and on those rare occasions when he gets into good positions the end product is usually lacking. Defensively he is a non-entity. Even if we went back down I wouldn't be keen on a new deal for him. Just my opinion. He gives 100% like they all do and fair play to him for that. He is the one genuinely quick player we have which in theory gives us a threat on the break and I think that is why he gets the nod, but personally I would look to move Taylor and Forde on in January and look to strengthen there. Vassell is playing out of position. So I wouldn't rush to judge him on his performances there.

Agree with you smiler Forde & Taylor can go in January to get another wide player in. Look to move Palmer on, if he can't get on the bench he's not in the managers plans. Vyner will have to be sacrificed cause we need a Right back & can't see Jones going anywhere. That elusive goalscorer needed in January. Not past his sell by date but better than we've got.

Its a difficult job, adding quality on a limited budget without ruining what we've got in terms of team spirit and togetherness. I don't think we need or can afford wholesale changes. With Raggett and Wood back fit we are good in central defence and that also releases Ajayi into midfield should Warne want to use him there. Mattock is doing ok and Robertson can cover there. With all respect gwru if Frickley was the recent step in Hinds experience he is probably a long way from being ready. We have three big strikers to lead the line. I think there are still question marks at right back (Jones is unfit too often and Vyner looks more like a centre back to me) and in wide areas. I wonder if Emannuel is still out of the question? He is apparently playing well at Shrewsbury and Hurst has moved on from Ipswich. Newell and Williams I would keep but I would look to add other quality options and if that means moving Taylor and Forde on so be it. And of course every club wants that goalscoring striker (there was a Blades fan on yesterday wishing for the same, and they are second in the league and one if the top scoring teams), but they are hard to find and don't come cheap.
