Halloween gets me. Yesterday just about everyone I met wished me 'Happy Halloween'. Happy Halloween ? Now theres a non event thats really got commercialised. Started with Trick or Treat and now has infested tele ads with party booze offers to enjoy the Halloween party, but………please drink sensibly .
As kids on Kimmy Park all we did was hollow out a swede or turnips as we called em and put a candle inside and walked around the streets wondering what to do next. Well the yanks had the idea that there was money to be made at it. Maybe thats why bonfire night has not become so commercialised on account of it not being something the American cousins can relate to,
I'm with you 100% Brad and Towdlad. This year for the first time I can remember I've seen lots of houses decorated with fake cobwebs, spiders etc for Halloween and staff at supermarkets with ridiculous make up and costumes. Another unwanted US import. I checked on the internet, and if I wanted to I could have gone to an organised bonfire/fireworks display every night for seven nights running within a twenty mile radius of my house. Ridiculous. I overheard someone at the match yesterday saying they couldn't wait for Black Friday. Joy! A chance to join a mass of greedy sweaty shoppers fighting over this years trends and getting conned. I absolutely love Christmas, but for me it starts on the last Saturday before Christmas Day and finishes on Boxing Day night. Humbug!
