Warney says Taylor will be fit for the Preston game. Could he be the player on the right to make us a more attaching threat. Wouldn't have thought so before the Bolton game but it was probably his best game for us. On the left could be tempted to go with Manning. Rodak; Vyner Ajayi Robertson Mattock; Taylor Towell Vaulks Williams Manning; Smith. Wiles 1st change in midfield. Know I said Newell but away from home need more a battling of type player.

Agree with all the comments on here about last nights match our porta cabins must be doing a good job a few players are improving as the season is going on. Pleased to see Wiles getting some game time were going to need him during the season goes on.
I might be reading things wrong but I think we are better prepaired than when we were in the champoinship last time due to a Paul Warne bringing in Ritchie Barker and Mike Pollit in. Just need to start scoring a few more goals Smithy was the best player on the pitch very unlucky not to have scored in the last two games.

Deserved pt. Vassell not in the game again. Newell in his place at Preston. Vyner alot better. I'm not right that often but I wasn't dissapointed with Ajayi & Robertson centre backs. UTM

Paul Davies is now back reporting on RUFC for the Advertiser. I respect his football knowledge and his honest reporting. Here's his assessment of Vassell's performance last night:

Kyle Vassell: 8
Made up for a lack-lustre contribution against Bolton Wanderers last weekend with a performance full of running and effort. Set up Williams' chance with a great dash and cross from the left. A threat going forward, he also got back every time his presence was required.

Playing Newell at Preston would be a massive risk because on present form, he offers very little going forward and virtually nothing in defence. Vassell is the type of player who will work hard, support Smith in attack, worry defenders and get back to do a shift in midfield. I'm sure PW recognises that and will do the right thing at Preston.

Apart from Vassell's low cross that Williams should have put away what did he do. 2nd half he was losing the ball everytime he got it. I was shouting substitute him early that half. I saw Paul Davies ratings. He must be related to Vassell! Not sure if Newell is the answer. Manning I've said could play on the left. I did watch the game last night on the red button. I go on what I see.

For me it's Vassell on the left, Williams right and Manning left side of midfield. Despite his performance last Saturday, wouldn't start with Taylor.

Based on the last 2 games 5 across the middle Taylor Towell Vaulks Williams Manning for the Preston game. I like to see wide players in their natural position not cutting in all the time. Wiles 1st change in midfield.

"Apart from Vassell's low cross that Williams should have put away what did he do". In the second half he took the ball off a Middlesbrough midfielder and passed to Smith who got that great shot in. So both Rotherham's serious attempts on goal were set up by Vassell. Agreed, he was probably our weakest player on the night but still contributed to a great team effort.

Vassell is still learning to play in an unfamiliar position. He is a bit rough around the edges but big and strong, naturally left footed and very game. I think he's doing alright.

Agree Vassell is a big strong handful and puts himself about and gets in their face. Newell is a lightweight who plays well when we have the time and space to carry him, hes very lazy. KV all the way for me

We aren't looking like winning away from home. Change it. Vassell for me there's no thought in what he does. He just swings his left foot. I can't remember many crosses he's put in that create anything. Agree Newell isn't up for the battle away from home. Manning is all left foot, can put decent crosses in from the left. If Taylor's fit 5 across the middle for me. Taylor Towell Vaulks Williams Manning.
