STRIKE pair Jamie Proctor and Michael Smith have both signed extended deals with Rotherham United.
And, says Paul Warne, "it wasn't a hard negotiation."
Smith has signed until June 2022 and Proctor until June 2021, subject to FA and EFL ratification.
Both aged 26 and coming into their prime, the pair are seen as a big part of the club's plans going forward.
Warne told the Advertiser: "Certain players suit certain clubs and both Smith and Proctor are great number nines.
"Good strikers are so rare, especially these two because they're a dying breed. They work hard, they're strong in the air, they lead the line really well and both of them like it here and are committed to the cause.
thats good warne so when we play bolton at home lets see them both up front in 4 4 2
I'm not exactly putting the flags out with that news. Smith struggles in this league. Jumped the gun abit with Proctor, don't even know if he's the same player since his injury. Was he a championship before his injury? Now if Ajayi & Vaulks extended their deals would be a different matter.

Got to agree with Gwru on this. Neither are remotely Championship quality and both will have jumped at the chance of contract extensions.Certainly shows what little ambition our Chairman really has!
Another one here underwhelmed by the news. We do seem to staggeringly unambitious. I do hope we get a couple of unexpected victories soon. Maybe that will lift me from being resigned we are sleepwalking our way back to League One.
Nothing against the players and i totally agree just shows you the tony is all hot air
When it comes to his vision money talks premiership ambition walks
It might be a bit cynical but from the clubs point of view aren't contracts just a way of securing a fee if players do well and move on? In the meantime we've got happy, settled, motivated players. We still have room for other forwards. Again it is a bit cynical but it is possible to move players on even when they are still under contract if they aren't playing eg Ball and Ball etc.
After reading the Tizer this morning I'm feeling not as bad about the situation. Got to go with what we've got till January. Sounds like we'll have players back for the Bolton game. I've always wanted to see Ajayi & Robertson paired at CB. Warney has got to man up. Want to see Robertson & push Wiles up the pecking order. Wiles in front of Palmer 1st change in midfield. Pollie getting Rodak catching the ball. Got to get have your keeper not developing bad habits. Looking forward to the Bolton game. Sure Middlesbora game will be on the red button on sky.
I think it's time to give Wiles more game time because in the new year it's a cert Manning will go back to QPR. From what I've seen of him and some people who have been to away games are of the same opinion he could be the most promising young player we have had coming through for a long time. What if we can get Potter fit for the New Year as an extra midfield player with his experience he could be useful as a squad player. It might be better than getting some other clubs cast offs at the end of January.
They dont detract from the Team at all.
Both 26 and so their best years are still to come.
Its very good to have 3 strikers that ae competitive.
Proctor
I presume the Doctors and physios have done their due diligence and the injury is not a problem.
There is no evidence he can score or be effective at this level in this kind of team.
Doesn't score enough
Smith
Has improved and certainly kept the team competitive following the Loss of Moore.
Doesn't score enough
Overall play is Good and probably in keeping with the quality we can expect.
Overall
Probably good to get two strikers at a good age that have so far been "good enough"
The players can be moved on if required.
Its uncertain whether extending contracts has much impact on continued investment.
Little bit synical on here. One of the main mistakes the club has made over the years is not tying down players who are out of contract so fair play we’ve got this done early.
We can’t afford to get better player in especially for this level so we may as well keep the one’s who are making a good fist of it and more importantly care about being here.
