for me its a no , the supposed championship budget is a joke and come January i bet we will lose 1 or two players if serious bids come in because Stewart will sell he wants his money back this is obvious to everyone who is not blinkered and still chants the stupid there is only one Tony Stewart. you cannot run a football club like a run of the mill business where you see players as a loss on the balance sheet ffs
some fellow banters will no doubt disagree with my negativity, I am more than happy with that if this club wants success then he has to find more investment and work with investment partners
I hope you are going to give T.S a list of all the investors that must be queuing up to help and give him loads of advice on how to run our club as he is making such a b******s of it , his record is absolutely dire three promotions one relegation , new stadium am I happy with that yes I am so that must make me a happy clapper, as for chanting his name I agree with you imo chanting is for the team or club.
I've said it before I was one of many who drove Purshouse's out but take no pleasure from that , and we all know what happened when we got investment from that ****ney spiv we lived to regret it
I'm sceptical of foreign investors in football clubs. I don't buy the idea that anyone from some other continent always dreamed of owning a Championship football club in South Yorkshire. We have a local man made good who steers us on a steady course and that will do for me. Do I wish that we could afford to invest in more quality players? Of course I do. But I would rather be a financially stable bottom end Champ / top end League One club than busting the bank to chase a rainbow or being a convenient commercial vehicle or plaything for some owner from ten thousand miles away. No complaints from me.

Our squad as it stands if Warney gets us to January in touch he's done more than his job. Everybody can see we haven't got a goalscorer in the side. But I'm not going to knock Tony Stewart. Bids were made in the transfer window but what can you do when a average player like Jackson goes to Ipswich for a Million or could have been more. A million pound player will want wages to match. Our head of recruitment has got to be smarter. You can sign players now for January. Identify players get them before it's a bidding war which we can't compete.
Not happy recruitment wise but it's plainly obvious that to players joining a club that is involved in a constant relegation battle in a South Yorkshire run down town isn't particularly attractive not even taking into account the club's obvious budget restraints. IMO the club will continue to yoyo between tiers 2 & 3 without significant outside investment.
Answering the OPs question id say no. We cant be using the media to talk of EPL ambitions and then do exactly the opposite its disingenuous to them and us, like Donald Trump making promises to coal miners or steel workers he has no intention of honouring or even progressing outside of media spinning rhetoric. Ive supported rufc for over 40 years and blah blah blah so can have an opinion on a current topic without being reminded of the 'buckets at bramall lane' saga constantly whenever anyone takes a shy at TS.
In regards investors i have heard from several independent sources that Ron Hull has the club approached with offer of investment in exchange for a place on the board but was rebuffed.
Yes we are in a better place than we was 8 years ago, we have a new stadium and have had several promotions from league 2 but from the lack of further investment we will be unable to progress into becoming a top half championship club.
But in regards the stadium the club doesn't own the stadium this is a separate companycoming under the umbrella company along with the club under ASD holdings.
What grates me most are the soundbites from ts which have no substance time to walk the walk tony im afraid as you make yourself look silly.
I remember my dad chanting pursehouse out and the subsequent financial issues that followed
Football is a different beast financial wise now. Its a catch 22 for a small club do they invest heavily and with the performance on the pitch attract a bigger crowd

In defence of Tony Stewart when he took over the club he had to sign a do***ent about any future losses if I can remember we in the last chance saloon remember what happened to Rangers a few seasons ago that would have been our fate if we had gone into any debt.
Our chairman promised us that we would never be in debt while he has been in charge do you think we would have gone straight back up last season if we had been in a financial mess.
I know the debt some Championship clubs are in but they always escape punishment look at Wolves last season this division is not a fair playing field.
The stadium is brilliant I think apart from us loyal 8,000 supporter the support from the Rotherham public is pathetic i'm retired and I get in for £10.40 season ticket holder I even had a season ticket at Don Valley I went to every home game there. Perhaps if we had a few more bums on seats there might be more money for players wages.
As far as i'm concerned my glass isn't 1/2 full it's 3/4 full I have my moans when we lose as that old saying goes in Football win draw or loose on with the booze.UTM.
There are supporters who will say that they aren't bothered what has gone before and they reserve their right to complain, and that is fair enough. The club really belongs to the supporters - TS is a custodian of it. And we all like a good moan every now and again, particularly when the results and performances on the pitch aren't good.
We are posting based on assumption and very little knowledge. My own assumptions are that the people who run the club aren't daft and that everyone concerned wants us to succeed. Why wouldn't they? As others have pointed out, we have come a million miles in the last few years.
If I have criticisms they are as follows. There is a lack of transparency from the club to supporters. The accounts and corporate structure are difficult to unravel and get to grips with, and the fans forum doesn't add anything of substance. On top of that, the talk of aiming for the top of the Championship clearly doesn't square with what supporters see for themselves and that sort of talk is counter-productive. It creates unrealistic expectations and ultimately frustration.
I have a view that two of the biggest causes of disappointment among supporters could be down to entitlement and expectation.
Entitlement? Well that really shouldn’t apply to any supporters of our club. We don’t see ourselves as massive.
Expectation? Well most of us have it but for those with an acceptance of our cir***stances, to be honest we are probably exceeding our expectation.
So why are we still disappointed?
Probably is just frustration. For me being in the Championship feels like a bit like a kid in glad rags being in a public school. Deep down we are as good as anybody else in this league but we don’t have the privileges money can buy. It‘s a shame our custodian won’t (can’t?) stump up more cash but there is the rub. With the current lack of transparency in the club we are left to speculate rather than being confided in and brought onboard. I would rather TS be honest.
It creates unrealistic expectations and ultimately frustration.
Which is what we, as supporters have had since the Pursehouse era Smiler That promotion and promise under Johnson and then the see saw of the clubs fortunes over the last 35 years. In terms of the clubs position in the football league we are in the same place as we were then ,except we are in aspanking new stadium instead of 1950's ramshackle but well loved Millmoor (that we owned outright).
There are many complaints that the Rotherham public do not rally to the call and I can't disagree with that, but what is on offer needs to improve, the end product. A struggling side no matter how valiant (and I would say that PW and his team are just that), cannot offer sustainability in the Championship. The football watching public want something to cheer and to feel the excitement and go home happy with goals to talk about over a pint. Only the stalwarts on this board and MM who go every week and have done so through thick and thin will remain happy to support the nearly men through years of loyalty. The armchair supporters need to see more. Until that extra something comes along , (such as NYS, but the novelty has even worn off that and big days at Wembley) we can forget about having a full stadium each game.
You are missing the point here guys, the question was have the board backed warne, not has TS done a good overall job for the millers, not the same question
It is sort of the same question though. Its obvious that they haven't backed him as much as we all would have wanted them to and probably not as much as he would have wanted, and maybe not as much as the board itself would have liked. But if they just can't afford to do more then they can't be blamed, can they? And we just don't know whether or not they could have afforded to throw more money at it. We can speculate, but we just don't know.
That is a cop out smiler, if we did that on every issue or discussion we would never have a debate. WE do know the club have around £7m extra revenue this year, we do know that TS stated after the playoffs we would invest. We are not talking about breaking the club here like Leeds, Villa etc we are talking about spending £1m to £2m extra on strengthening the squad to try and stay up, remember the championship money goes up a lot next season, Donny and Barnsley could time it perfectly to benefit and we will sink further behind if we get relegated (if we are being honest we all think there is a very good chance we will). I think the board have bottled it and they will regret that decision, I also think they are not transparent enough and mis-lead the fans with silly statements in the media rather than simple clear honest messages.
Tony Stewart must be backing Paul Warne how come we signed Manning and Towell I agree with derbymiller about signing £1 to£2m players but the problem again with our wage budget and the constraints of the fair play league it's never going to happen.
I can remember when Anton Johnson took over at Rotherham we all went a bit giddy for a few seasons back into a financial mess down to the old division 4.
We've lost money year on year in every division we've been in. TS has covered that debt. We haven't seen the accounts yet for the period including last season but bearing in mind that we kept most of the playing squad from the season before and that TV, gate and commercial revenue will have been down its a fair bet that we lost further money last season and TS will have covered that too. Its easy to spend someone else's money but it would be understandable wouldn't it if he was reluctant to overspend again? Look what £1m gets you by the way - Kayden Jackson who scored a goal every three games in League 2 and so far has one goal (against Exeter in the cup) in eleven appearances for Ipswich. TS's mistake isn't a lack of funding - he has ploughed millions into our club - but it is giving the impression to supporters that we had the power to spend enough to make a big difference in the Championship, when we probably haven't.

Im a little disappointed but only out of sentiment.
Clearly, the Board must be doing something right given the last several years. Its clearly been far and away our most successful sustained period. The OP could have placed any managers name in the title and received the same reply. There is ultimately nothing special about Warne or his achievements. However, we are all really pleased and proud of what the whole team and management team have achieved.
As some have mentioned the balance sheet suggests we cant afford any more than we invest at present. There is no clear relationship between taking an almighty risk and getting into the premiership. We are much more likely to go bust and fall through the bottom of the league.
The only answer I would be pleased with is increased attendances, increased sales and sponsorship streams.
What we have is good enough and the strong case to be made is the Board has done a very good job despite several (common and acceptable) mistakes.
