29 games since we won away in the Championship, 22 games since we beat Forest and not won at the City Ground since 1955.Is there a better time to wander on down to Nottingham to watch the Millers create a bit of history today? I was there for our last away victory in this League and will be there today to see a repeat of that fabulous day at MK Dons - hopefully.
I reckon PW now knows everything he needs to know about his players and what tactics are likely to give us a sniff of victory today. As long as the lads put in 100% and attempt to defend higher up the pitch whilst creating a few chance on the break, I will be happy. Chances of witnessing victory - umm?
Regardless of whether or not we win, it's always worth bearing in mind that if things had gone pear - shaped at Wembley in 2014, we might have been away to Harrogate today!
Not a bad first half. We've been a bit wasteful around their box with sloppy passes. Forest look nothing special and their support is very quiet! Jones looks assured at RB and Towell/Vaulks excellent in midfield. Liking Warne 's tactics - defending high up the field. With a bit more composure up front, we can take something from this one!
To lose like that is a real kick in the teeth. Forest had run out of ideas and it felt like if anyone was going to score it would be us, then they get a goal from a clumsy tackle. Its difficult to do anything other than applaud the players because they deserved the point. But the harsh fact is that we failed to score away again and we aren't likely to keep many away clean sheets so we need to make more of opportunities when we get them or we will not pick points up. We still give the ball away too cheaply too often. Whether that's a confidence thing or just a shortage of quality I don't know. On the plus side I think we are still improving. Jones did well in his first full game. Keep the faith.
Just watched brief highlights. Towell went close for us. Williams could have got some of the ball on tackle for there pen'. But if you tackle from behind more often that not decision will go against you especially away from home. We got a decision last week that you wouldn't always get so evens itself out. Sounded like starting with Proctor didn't work. I doubted it would. Will he be the same player after that major injury? Manning taken off again. Warney will have to do a Warnock & play our better players like Newell when they are not fully fit. At least bring him on.

Didn't go to the game but the bare facts are that we failed to score for the fourth away game running & we conceded again, zero points again. Warnie has to redifine the word excellent. We have to find a plan B away from home or were doomed.
So close today Brad. It was a very decent performance. I just think we have to get that bit better at doing what we are doing.
The first goal is everything but we can't get our noses in front. We should have at Leeds and at Wigan and could have today. I'm sure those away points aren't far away. Just seen highlights - Towell on one hand unlucky to hit the bar but if he squares it Williams can't miss. Williams maybe got a toe end on the ball but it looks like a pen. Fine margins.
Just back from the game so excuse the late report. In short, we were robbed. Firstly, the ref bottled a decision which should have seen their CB receive a second yellow for exactly the same tackle on Williams which brought him a yellow in the first half. If he'd gone, it would have been a different game.
Secondly, if any team was going to score in the second half, it was us. Vassell was a whisker away from putting us one up and then Towell's effort came off Pantilimon's shoulder when goal bound. I didn't get a good view of the penalty but once their player went down in the area, there was only one thing the ref was going to do.
I travelled back to Lincoln with a Forest fan who thought they were very lucky to get a point. He thought our defence had got the measure of Forest's attack and couldn't see any way that they were going to break through.
IMO, we are inches away from having a really useful Championship side. The only difference between us and Forest was the confidence that their players had on the ball. It will come for us but we need to be patient.
I thought the same Glenn. It looked to me like the ref was reaching for the yellow card until he realised that the defender was already on one. If anything the second foul was worse than the first. The ref bottled it.
The players were visibly hurting at the end but I hope they aren't demoralised. We are moving in the right direction and if they keep putting that effort in and continue to grow, they won't go far wrong.
Another away defeat, another away game without scoring and another away game where we looked difficult to beat. Away games for us and how we play will be decided a lot of the times by decisions from our players and the ref. A draw would have been a fair result but it could be argued that when Towell went for a shot from an acute angle instead of rolling across to Williams to tap in,then when the ref failed to give a second yellow card and then the penalty decision decided the very tight game.
I am not saying it wasnt a penalty because my view was not good. Lolley injected pace that took him into a dangerous area,he then played a quick ball to Osborn who got on the outside and Williams brought him down from behind. No idea if Williams got anything on the ball. The defence played well as did the midfield with Forest creating very little. We created a small amount but it had a look of nill nill all over it. Proctor was given a start but had little effect on the game. We desperately need some quality up top and pace. Jones had a solid first start and gives us another option at right back. I wouldnt argue with anybody who gave him the man of the match. Two away defeats now put extra pressure on the Stoke game. I think Stoke will score at least one goal . Thats not a big statement because they have scored in all away games up to just, but havent won away. We will have to score at least twice to win and in my opinion that will prove too much. I will go for a 1-1 draw which would be a decent return.
Do you agree about Billy Jones Glenn? I thought he was excellent.
I thought Jones was excellent Smiler. He's a no nonsense and solid RB. I was impressed with his fitness and mobility as I expected him to be a bit rusty after his injury. Unlike Vyner, his distribution is reliable. I'd start him every time ahead of Vyner because he's better and he's ours. He'll definitely play against Bristol City as Vyner won't be allowed. It's good to see another PW signing coming good despite the predictions of our doomsayers!
Overall, I thought the whole of the back line looked disciplined and accomplished which is something to be celebrated when you consider our previous Championship back four!
Taylor was a last throw of the dice in the last couple of minutes HM. He actually came on for Towell. In the cir***stances, it was probably the right thing to do but, like you, I do wish we had someone with a bit more quality to call upon. Newell would have been suitable if he'd been fit.
yes we are losing but apart from villa and brentford they have been close 1 nil matches where we have been made to pay for missing our chances.
hence still puzzled by letting da ball going on loan. yes he struggled as well but would have loved to see him in an attacking 3 up front going for a draw with smith proctor and ball
Da Ball wasn't the answer. If you read my posts said well before the season started someone like Marquis should have gone for him. Way he's banging them in at this season his value will be going up.
