You're not at Goodison are you. Your expert analysis is based on internet stats, isn't it.

Been there and had the 'T' shirt love. 60+ grounds following the boys. Night match in Lancashire - with zero chance of victory ( in my opinion ). I probably had a better view of all the goals than those who went ! No apologies for not going....they never got out of second gear - trust me.... Anger management is not working for you is it ? Have a good night sleep - the boys would have enjoyed the trip - especially Vaulks celebration. NEXT !

Anger management? Do you know anything about psyhchology? I would have thought that an expert tactician would understand "projection"

Remind me again. Didn't you once meet an ex-pro and that's how you gained all your rather odd ideas? The killing fields of the six yard box? Wtf?????

Have you been on the St Mirren forum yet to tell them that it's a three year plan and results are of no consequence, and that Stubbs will perfect "park the bus". One day.

You are an odd one LBJ

The size of the crowd was a pleasant surprise. I can't believe the criticism that Warne is getting in some quarters after an away game between our reserves (mostly) and a good Premier League teams reserves. Their reserves by the way cost an estimated £85m in transfer fees and included several international players. It was a competitive game and I thought we did OK with plenty of positives to take from it. The disappointment for me was that for all their quality their first two goals were a bit ordinary (a scuffed shot turned in, then we were slow to react after the wall blocked a free kick). It would have been easier to take in a way if they had ripped us apart but they never did. Still a good experience all round, a good work out for a few players who needed it, no shame at all in the performance or result, and on to Wigan we go for a far more important game.

If anyone has any doubts about the quality of NYS, take a look at the appalling quality of view offered at some Premier League grounds. This was my view until 5 minutes into the game when I decided to move. Give me NYS any day!!

Can't remember having a worse view in any ground - Hillsborough was really bad but this one took the biscuit!

No embarrassment in last night's performance at all, and lots of positives to bring away. Price was kept busy but had another thoroughly competent game. Robertson again looked really comfortable on the ball and filled in well at left back after a warm up injury to Mattock. I don't think he's a challenger for the LB position as he doesn't get forward but he's useful cover in case of injury. Raggett looked very sound again but Ajayi had yet another CB moment, convincing me that he must play in midfield where the odd error might not be so costly. Vassell caused real problems for the Everton defence when he came on - and when you consider he was up against Zouma that's high praise. Some of Everton's play was sublime and there was an obvious gulf in class between the sides. But Rotherham defended manfully and really took the game to them in the last 20 minutes. With a bit of luck and more clinical finishing, we could have pulled off a shock. However, I was happy with the performance, the quality of the game and the great following from Rotherham. Also enjoyed a few hours in the centre of Liverpool Smiler!

I think I agree 100% with your analysis of the game Glenn.

The ground is steeped in history and reeks of football, but is really showing its age now.  I can see why they are agitating for a new stadium.  The idea of being stuck behind a steel post used to be commonplace but these days it is not really acceptable.

What did you think of the city centre?  I always think there are some fabulous historic buildings, but its rough around the edges.  Interested in your impression.

Smiler - I think Liverpool is an interesting combination of the old and the new. We parked in the Albert Dock area which, like most ancient sea ports in UK, has had a wonderful face-lift, converting the old dock buildings into modern apartments, attractions etc. I have a Naval background and have worked in music business for many years, so Liverpool has a fascinating history for me personally. A Liverpool friend had drawn up a list of must-visit places, mostly associated with the Beatles, which we managed to fulfil - most of them involved a bar! I couldn't believe that the short-sighted council, back in the 70's, had demolished the site of the Cavern Club to erect a ventilation shaft. Latterly, they've realised the error of their ways and reconstructed it in the same area. It's a great attraction but lacks a bit of authenticity. Intriguing that they can knock down the twin towers at Wembley and the Cavern Club, but we can't get rid of Guest and Crimes from NYS!

Some of the old buildings are superb but I'm never sure about the attraction of erecting a 21st century angular glass construction at the side of a 300 year old building with the appearance of St Paul's cathedral. It's all a matter of taste I suppose. The place has a relaxed atmosphere and doesn't have the chaos associated with London - I reckon it would be a good place to spend a weekend - always lots happening.

All in all, a great day out and another city/ground ticked off.

Cheers Glenn. Glad you enjoyed it. Its a great place for a long weekend visit if you get chance. The Pullman near the docks is a good hotel at good rates in the right part of town. Plenty of Irish arrive on the ferries on a Friday and the area around The Cavern is buzzing on a weekend night, but plenty of poverty on view too - the doormen spend most of their time moving beggars on.

Wasn't there but was disappointed with the team selection for the 2,000 Roth U fans who made the journey. I'd sooner see young players given a opportunity like Wiles & Hinds than players who aren't good enough for the championship like Palmer Forde Taylor Da Ball. Great header from Vaulks, he's a star not bothered what anyone says on these sites, he's got it.

As one of the 2,000 that went T71 - I wasn't disappointed with the team selection in the slightest. Wiles played!! Palmer had a decent game against more technically gifted players than those in the Championship. Vaulks was good when he came on - more consistency needed though. As for your list of players not good enough for the Championship, it's not too long ago since Williams was on it! However, I agree with you about Ball and Taylor.

Glenn I'm not heartless, know manager has got to keep his squad happy. But when it comes down to it we saw against Millwall the way forward & that doesn't include Palmer Forde Taylor Da Ball. Hope we can sign Yates today & keep our 1st choice players fit. Right back is our weak position. Like something done about that today.

It was a big step up for Wiles and understandably he struggled a bit at times but he will learn from it. He looks like he could be a good one. I thought Palmer was one of the better players on the night. Robertson looks a good defender. On the whole they all did well. The slight negatives for me were that Vyner still looks a bit wobbly at times (but I keep reminding myself that Emmanuel was too at this stage of last season and he came on strong) and that David Ball (who is clearly very talented) is still flattering to deceive a bit.

Don't doubt it T71 - everyone in Thurcroft has a heart! IMO, Palmer is a creative midfielder with the ability to pick a pass and get play moving. At present he is expected to be combative and that's not his strength. If/when we strengthen our midfield, Palmer will have more space to be creative and we will see what he can really do. He's definitely not a write off in my book and I expect him to come good. However, I'll be realistic if he doesn't come up to snuff.

Palmer - from the outset has shown he isn't physically strong enough and the defining aspect of his league one play-offs performance ( home and away ) v S****horpe was being caught in possession far too often and in dangerous positions. He duplicated this last night during the highlights we saw on TV - but he wasn't alone last night - Everton just did enough but they had plenty extra to throw at us if necessary. For example - we scored and they instantly restored the buffer zone - they were that much in control. He's one that shouldn't be in this league. He's transparent at times.
