A smidgeon of sensibility among the rantings of others Glenn. Last season over 46 games was a success. This season after one game it's Armageddon, fuelled by our resident MM refugees, the artist formerly known as "go to home games, mean all" gwru

OK I was on MM, I don't now go to away games. Is there a problem? I'll give you one thing away games you do see the players up for a battle. There are certain players who don't turn up in away games. But I'm putting money into that club. Season ticket payed for as it's been for fair few no. of years. I go to every other 1st team game played at the New York stadium, got two Millers Mayday tickets every month. So think my opinion is valid. I haven't said nothing about the Brentford game cause I wasn't there but have seen extended highlights. But went to the Cardiff friendly, there were pointers in that game. Certain people post on here sure they don't go to many games. Cause if they think Purrington was better than Mattock last season I've been at a different ground. I just want us to compete this season. I don't want another season like the last one in the championship.

Diverse opinion is fine - personal attacks are not. As for the MM comparisons, it is getting a bit stale, people are still people no matter where they post and are entitled / free / welcomed to do so on here and on there. It makes little difference.

As for the OP, the Brentford game would have put things in perspective that's for sure, not only for us but everyone concerned. The players aren't stupid, they'll hold their hands up and say look we're just not as good footballers as them (but that doesn't stop them from trying). Warney has come out and said hey maybe I need to review my own performance and choices, as well as let the players know what we can do better when we watch it back. So really what more can we do other than review it, try and learn a thing or two and move on. I really do think it makes very little difference what individuals we choose, what formation we play, what Warney decides to do as per setup in the game. The fact of the matter is, a club our size and resources have to try and use the best of what we have in, what is, the most financially skewed league in the world.

As for upstairs there will be no 'investment', neither from the outside. Nobody with an ounce of sense would. You invest to see a return on a risk and reward basis. What is the motivation to invest? - cos we certainly won't be selling out NYS every home game - and that is very sad, very sad indeed. We need double the amount of support we have now, to be sustainable. The club are saying look, we've got here now please come and help us. Unfortunately the Rotherham public won't buy into it. Why? - I don't know.

This season a lot will rest on what we do at home, if we can win 13 home games, that's half of them and take points from those in and around us and give them next to nothing away that is all that's needed to stay in this league. Any points we grab from those in the top 15 (that's 2/3's of the league), will just absolutely be a bonus. Treat this like a mini league - top 15, bottom 8, we need to finish as high as we can in the bottom 8.

Let's not all cave after Game 1, Brentford will be pretty high in that top 15

Can't let this go without comment although a career in the diplomatic core awaits you. The purse string decide what calibre of player we can buy BUT "what formation we play, what Warney decides to do as per setup in the game" IS MASSIVE ! ( and yes that's a loud MASSIVE ) That's when the manager earns his money and will be the benchmark I ( for one ) will measure PW.

That is a fine post Ex on the football side of things. Nothing to disagree with there.

On the subject of this site, the problem that you have (if I may say so) is not about posters who post on here and on Mad. The problems is that Banter has become a haven for some posters who are only here because they are excluded from Mad. They are doing the same things on here as they did to wind everybody over there up. As you say, diverse opinion is fine. But how often you express the same opinions and how you do it is also important.

If a stranger walked into a pub and joined in a conversation with others and repeatedly SHOUTED the same opinions at them, he would be probably be asked to behave, then to leave if he carried on. If he wasn't sorted out the locals would probably find somewhere else to drink before very long, so as to avoid him.

I respect your diplomatic effort and understand the difficulties faced by a moderator, but some good posters on here have disappeared or now post only very occasionally and they have made it pretty clear why that is. Have a look at Calypo's earlier post, and Len's 'too late' comment. I am on the verge of giving it up again, which I did briefly once before because it is so frustrating and irritating to keep reading the same cynical drivel. That is fine, I know it isn't all about me or indeed about me at all. All I would say is that there is a real risk that you might soon have a pub with only one person in it, and that won't be good for him either because he will have nobody left to SHOUT AT.

Smiler this is not a wind up. I'm never on a wind up. You come across like it's my bat & ball. It's my way or I'm taking them home. I hope I'm not included in posts I send you consider cynical drivel. I just go on what I see or what news is coming out of the club. I do sometime pass on rumours I've heard. Good site this apart from Born? or who turned up after Brentford defeat is it Derbymiller. Keep posting, I like different opinions.

The site is becoming MM since a few new posters arrived. As Calypso said on another thread, its not about opinions, its about the tunnel vision of a certain view which is repeated time and time again which ever thread you care to look at. Going over old ground over and over again from Warnock to Stubbs from JCH to god knows who. To see it over and over and over again. Its f*****g boring ! And offers not one iota of insight or thought out theory to discuss.

We lost on saturday, the knives are out and f*****g Stubbs and Warnock are still being mulled over with 'what ifs' offered as some sort of therapy for getting over a defeat. If you don't agree then you are a happy clapper, got you head buried in the sand or choose not to see the 'reality' from these newly arrived experts.

For goodness sake lets talk football and Rotherham united. Stubb, Warnock…Move on and stick em where the sun don't shine.

Thats me. I'm fed up with the lot of it. You just can't have a bit of banter anymore. without it turning into a MM den of vipers.

Blooming hell! I’ve only just started to post on my first Millers site and I chose this one as it was the civilised site .  .  .  .  now it’s all kicking off.

For my two penn’orth you can’t stop louts coming through the turnstiles at matches - the sort who think nothing of always standing up and blocking others view at the match. The same type of person can also have access to a keyboard and disrupt forums in the same loutish way. Is the best response is to starve them of the oxygen of a reply?

As for contributions being boring and repetitive. This isn’t the House of Lords where we are always expected to debate to the highest standard. We are, well I am at least, just a simple sole who is quite happy to just express my opinion. It might be total tosh and already have been made but does that really matter? What I can’t do with is reading personal attacks or someone being condescending about another’s post. Come on guys (and gals) - start being a bit more tolerant and keep this the best Millers forum.

Keep posting and spead read / ignore posts or subjects that you are not interested in - Not everyone is on the same page and one persons absolute priority is someone else's old news. Just like life - live and let live. Some folk try to impose there thoughts on others and form groups of posters ( like this thread ) - picking on individuals. It's obvious if you look for it. It's pathetic and childish. Just ignore them and take what you need from the site. And enjoy !

Yes - I think the reaction is well over the top because we were all so looking forward to the day and we've been "groomed" with the lessons learned / better prepared statements. But - on hearing the team sheet I knew we were toast! We want a management team that we can "understand" the tactics / phrases used / team selection etc etc but Saturday was a most blatant faux pas. RUFC isn't a cresch / a school / a technical college / yes a place of learning but the manager should be the principal trainer not the most important person on a course. It just does not feel right to me. This is important to me not just another statistic on Mod.
