Bornamiller - you found a negative review of the player before we even signed him and used it to make a point. Look again at the last bit of your post.

Free agents don't cause any alarm these days. Plenty of good players let their contracts run out these days as it puts them in a good position to get a good deal.

You need a blend of youth and experience. The age doesn't bother me as long as he still has the has the appetite for the game at 31 he should still be good for the two years we have signed him for. Good luck to him.

We are getting quite a bit of contradictory feedback on billy. I bet there isn’t a player for Sunderland that comes out with any praise after their last 2 seasons..... I’ve not seen him play, will give him a good reception and see how it goes over the first 15-20 games.

Thats all we can do MillerBear, We ALL KNOW its going to be tough, WE ALL KNOW we can't afford high end quality, but if you're a real Miller you give them a break and see what they can do before passing judgement. As the saying goes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Play up the Millers.

Totally agree, this season will be tough and we are likely odds on to go straight back down. Team spirit and fighting for each other will hopefully gain us half a dozen points over the season and leave us in there fighting to the end. I’ve just watched warne’s interview on the Billy signing, spoke to players at different clubs where he played before gets a feel for him. Hopefully helps out with the changing room when we are down at half time to push for fightbacks.

Free agents may not "ring bells" to some but others think that if he's a free agent then it begs the question why. He's played at a good level for some time - I think this is a brilliant contract for Billy and I hope he appreciates it and repays the trust Warne has afforded him. Good luck to him!!

Yep, we have been really burned with free agents in the past. Sounds like warne has done his homework, but like all players we will only know if they can cut it it the championship after a number of games. How many of our squad will cut this year is unknown some did t last time, but hopefully with those memories for last time it will drive then to do better, you would hope all players are driven to play at the highest level they can to test themselves. It’ll be another rollacoaster I’ll be happy with 4th bottom

Billy Jones is a very good addition to the squad. I don't need to say any more other than, 'Welcome aboard, Billy Jones!'

seems a decent signing. Doesn't one need to look at evidence? A lot f games for much better sides and age is no barrier...sounds like a coup to me. We aint real Madrid.

31 is no worry at all indeed its a dam good age for a defender.

Smiler - you appear to be a sniper and rubbishing people who disagree with you so.... "If these two weren't already banned from Mad they wouldn't even be on here. The more they post the worse this site gets. Its a shame" I assume your ignorance refers to me so a short explanation of the workings of MM...After you read this you will have a good reason to say "shame" Why I was banned for life from MM I complained to MM moderators to act after a certain individual posted a threat  to publish my real name - my address - and "out me" as a paedophile......so I get bricks through my windows.... The action taken: I was banned FOR LIFE for complaining and the individual who threatened this gross liable is still happily posting as a Millers Mad Moron. A note to me from frog about when the ban would be lifted.... He said: NEVER! Go figure ! Makes you proud to be a MILLER doesn't it ?

" A lot of games for much better sides" I agree with all this - he's a good un at a good age but....playing Devils advicate here....the team was Sunderland who are on free fall through the leagues and the defence was woeful - and he was released so....don't need to be using braille to take a second glans at the bargain we have....he looked good v Cardiff and I appreciated his overall performance so for me ok....but please understand his recent history and Sunderlands demeanor - there is a relationship there to research. Simple as that.

Price & Billy Jones out of the new signings don't know what they bring to the squad. Price was comical in the 1st half the other night. Jones I never saw him put a tackle in. Everytime a Cardiff player went down his side they got a cross in. Correct me if I am wrong.

Wiles is the player I want to see more of. If your good enough your old enough. Looks a talent.

Bornamiller - I don't fall out with anyone as a rule. I am easy going. I like an honest debate. It doesn't bother me one bit if people have an opinion different to mine, but the repetitive nature of your posts and the way you say things is provocative.  You rubbed people up the wrong way on Mad (whatever the reason ultimately given or not given for your ban) and since you have been on here you have riled quite a few mild mannered posters - not just me. You are a common thread.  That should be telling you something, but sometimes people can't or don't want to see what is right under their noses even when they are intelligent, which you clearly are.

"but sometimes people can't or don't want to see what is right under their noses even when they are intelligent, which you clearly are" And that goes for the great majority of people on the planet - but mob rule is comfortable to most folk - 'The Human Zoo' and all that ! Making relationships via mutuality of thought - we'll I don't do that to gain acceptance - I write / think / observe from a different mindset - my own. Just enjoy the season in your own way and get pleasure whenever you can - life is too short to live others lives as well as your own. Read what you want - write what you want - it will never affect me - your opinions are just that and I'm pleased you have them - many don't. Up the Millers!

Free speech and free thinking together with a splash of decorum. There's nothing wrong with that.
I'm also hoping Chessman gets a place in the 3 O'clock at Ascot even though he is reported to be a bit 'quirky' at times.

Chessman 5th. I'm into horseracing but NH. Flat in England is run by the Arabs. NH is mostly British owners. Used to tip on MM with some success but no racing men on there so packed up. Doubt MM is a grown up site. Doesn't appear to be to me.

Free thinking, free speech. Tone time to get the cheque book out. Get an emergency recruitment meeting organised ASAP. Outgoings, signings. Proper signings fees paid. Brentford next week are one of the better footballing sides in the championship with one of the best managers. Next to no chance there without adding some quality to the side. Centre midfield Right winger Striker needed. Championship quality now not was. Don't want kids or were good players a few years ago. I know we can't get ready made upper level ability. We've got to look in the lower leagues. Go on potential. Only way we can go.

Thought the  talk about Chessman would rattle someone's woodwork. Do you play chess? It's a lot more technical than you could ever imagine.

Played chess, game of intrigue. Moved on to pub games cribb solo dominoes. Don't knock doms, as intriguing as chess in it's own way.

More important thoughts on here. Do you think we have to up the quality in the side a notch to keep us away from the bottom 3 all season. I'm only talking 2 or 3 signings.

Our players should be physically and mentally prepared for the first game. I reckon we should let the opposition worry about us and our strengths. And there are many.
