Former Sunderland defender Billy Jones is poised to join Rotherham United on a free transfer, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club. Jones usually plays at right full back.

Hope there's no truth in this. Can't be that good, I've never heard of him. I don't want 31 year olds coming here for an early retirement wage. Read Potter. What's happened to Hodson? 1st 3 signings were the way ahead then we brought a player back we released Price who was unavailable a lot of the time he was here in his 1st contract. I can't understand that. Goalkeeper is the one position you can get a loan anytime of the season. Save wages for signings that's going to be some use to us.

He has played over 400 games T71, approximately 40 as a League 1 player, over 100 in the Premier League and the rest in The Championship.

He was at little known clubs like Preston, WBA and Sunderland.

Whether he is a good player or not might be a matter of opinion, but it is hardly his fault that you haven't heard of him!!

Reading Warney on the OS. He says he hasn't been turned down yet by his preferred targets. I'm thinking Rodak Hodson Towell Dwane Holmes Kieffer Moore. Just going on what Warney said a couple of weeks ago he's waiting for clubs to get replacements before he can get the deals over the line with a couple of players. See Brighton & S****horpe have signed midfield players this week so could be some movement on the Towell Dwane Holmes deals.

Blackburn and Derby have also shown an interest in signing Duane Holmes.

Duane then. Do we agree hope he's one of Warney's primary targets?

Sounds like Billy Jones will be signing. I'm not a happy puppy. I said on MM I didn't want Potter, same with Jones. Can't see no future in signing players of that age. Chairman said we're going for players on the way up, what's changed. Has reality come home. Don't come cheap championship quality players.

"he struggled to impress both in the Premier League and the Championship due to his lack of pace and positional awareness." A quote from a Billy Jones admiring journalist. He'll be fine......mmmmm

Negative uninformed drivel followed by more negative uninformed drivel. If these two weren't already banned from Mad they wouldn't even be on here. The more they post the worse this site gets. Its a shame.

Don't put in the same bracket as forgot what they called him on MM but it was a Stubbs love in. I don't no why I was banned on MM, can't find out. But it's a worst site without me. I am constructive but I don't want us to go down the same path as last time in the championship.

Official. Billy Jones signed. Hopefully he'll last the course better than some our recent over 30 yrs of age signings. Looks fit enough at the side of Warney on the OS. Good luck here Billy

Welcome Billy Jones! Nothing wrong with a bit of experience - he should be a mature influence on our youngsters. Added bonus is that he will give our serial whingers something more to whinge about!!

According to the Sunderland forum (RTG) we have biggrin. He is getting dogs abuse from over there, got to love football supporters when someone leaves their club.

 Welcome Billy and good luck.

Smiler - I'm a long term fully affiliated Rotherham fan who does not have to justify anything to people like you! Rudeness & ignorance aside I found the quote from a newspaper source I believe so not made up by me but someone's assessment who writes sport / football. I / we Rotherham fans are hoping for good news but stupid we are not. As far as I'm concerned I hope he'll be an astute signing but as mediocre players cost a fortune - a free agent must ring some bells and initiate some research....I found the quotation to which you refer. Again these things are there for all to see....but some individuals have the God syndrome where only they can comment - and all others are attacked as some kind of anti-Millers. Rubbish man - grow up.
