But it could be that the player is due to return to a club he has just sent down and he will be playing in a lower division (and maybe earning less) as a result. That is a real conflict. And remember in most loan situations the parent club still pays a proportion of wages. It isn't such a far fetched scenario. Who is to say that us and Bristol City won't be battling it out near the bottom of the table? I just don't like it or see the need for it. And that isn't to question the integrity of the player. I am sure as you suggest Glenn that he is a fantastic human being or our great leader wouldn't have signed him!

Looks like we will need to replace a couple of our academy players, see the following link. The one in the centre of the photo is clearly struggling with the two arrows in his back and the tough one on the right is pretending not to notice the single arrow which he has just taken. Was their visit to Budapest such a good idea?

Reading inbetween the lines from the tizer last week & this. Goalkeeper Rodak? Defender Hodson? We're ok at Centre/left back. Says 2 midfield players. Dwane Holmes sure there's something in that. Towell? Last week it said chairman has made funds available for a striker. Pick one from Kieffer Moore Marquis Bradshaw.

Jon Flanagan who is playing in the Champions League first qualifying round for Rangers in front of a sell out Ibrox under Stevie G? That was realistic.

Ryan Yates to be loaned out by Notts F. Problem again from the same league but we have Vaulks. Hoping other midfield player is Dwane Holmes can play on the right. We not overblessed with championship quality wide men.

Not fussed about Ryan Yates. Let some other club get him fit. See if uncle Colin will loan us Lee Tomlin. Be a good midfield him & Vaulks. My wish side to start the new season. Rodak; Hodson Dom Ball Robertson Mattock; Holmes Vaulks Tomlin Newell; Moore Vassall

Our current transfer situation draws worrying parallels with the summer of 2016 & we all know what happened after that. The u turn on Price was particularly worrying as if we fail to get Rodak back we face the nightmare scenario of starting a Championship season with Price as number one with the untried Bilboe as his back up, a potential disaster. Other Championship clubs have managed to tie up loan deals with fringe Premier League keepers such as Henderson (Sheff Utd) & Blackman (Leeds) so why can't we? Wages perhaps?
The other position we are in dire need to recruit is that of Right Back where (apart from Vaulks) we literally have no-one, maybe we should do another u turn & resign ***mings eh?
I'm hoping Proctor comes back firing on all cylinders as it would be like having a new player but we seem to be OK in the forward department as we are in Central defence. We need someone in midfield to match Towell's energy & drive though.
I can well understand the club's reluctance to divulge their transfer targets as that is where we went wrong in the past but my (& a lot of fans I have spoken to) fear is that we are now into the second week of pre season, the Austrian training camp is past & any new recruits would have needed that time to get to know their new teammates & integrate.
I do trust PW but as an eternal pessimist I am right to be worried as this summer just seems to be a repeat of past failings, hope I'm horribly wrong though.

On the goalkeepers Brad, I think Rodak will be coming back. Apparently Fulham are looking to get a second keeper in and won't release him until that is done, but it is a matter of time, not will.

Neither we nor Price has made a u-turn. We offered him a new deal on reduced terms. Understandably he went away to see if he could do better elsewhere, and after having a look around he took what we had offered, which is fine.

I agree we need three or four more players and we all have a good idea which positions. Unfortunately, we are probably not in a position to offer top dollar and that might mean that we have to be patient as we are probably not the first choice option for most players wanting Championship football. That is just how it is. We have probably identified and approached targets but they and their agents will play the field.

I share your concerns about integrating them etc but would rather wait for the right players than go straight for the first cast offs released by other Championship teams who are available just to get numbers through the door. We have also made that mistake before.

Rotherham transfer update — did have bid rejected for Kayden Jackson. Enquired about Tom Bradshaw. Still hopeful of bringing back Rodak and Towell on loan #RUFC

We're still shopping @ Poundland, doesn't look inspiring

Sounds like Rodak & Towell could be back on loan. Like look of Kaydon Jackson, up the bid on him. Still hoping on Duane Holmes. Need a right sided midfield player/winger. Williams he's inconsistent. Forde & Taylor weren't 1st choice in league 1, won't cut it in the championship, didn't last time.

Yates gone for the season on loan. Manny & Bray to follow. Players who aren't going to get in the match day squad no point keeping them. Thinking of Ihiewke, Forde could be another. Sounds like Jones can play in midfield, Vyner at centre back. Gives us options.

Sean Raggett may also be a target. Has been on loan to Lincoln from Norwich. smile

Rotherham United are set to raid Championshiprivals Norwich City to sign defender Sean Raggett on loan, HITC Sport understands.

Rotherham boss Paul Warne is keen to bolster his defensive options before the start of the season and he has lined up a deal for powerhouse defender Raggett.

Mentioned Raggett 8th June 2018 on this thread. He is a right footed defender and 24 years old. Would that be too young for a loanee if the deal were to go through?

Raggett confirmed season long loan. Ihiewke surely got to be on the way out. Rodak is said to be here this morning. Still need assuming Rodak has signed on loan two midfield players & a striker. My only doubt about Raggett. Age he his why isn't he playing regular at this level. Norwich were not pulling any trees up last season. If Towell does initially sign on loan would like last two in to money signings, fees paid.

Michael O'Connor has been released by Shamrock Rovers. He signed for Linfield in the past few days. O'Connor had been on Warne's radar several months ago.

Rotherham boss Paul Warne has revealed he has been given the go-ahead to up the bid on an unnamed transfer target.

The Millers are still trying to strengthen their squad ahead of the big kick-off with Warne in the market for two central midfielders and a striker.

He has had several bids in for players over the course of the summer – including Tom Bradshaw, Kayden Jackson and Richie Towell – the but only arrivals so far have been free transfers or loans.

But Warne has been given permission from chairman Tony Stewart to go back in with a higher bid for a target.

Warne said on Football Heaven’s managers’ special: “I am trying to get a signing in and I went and spoke to the chairman because we have upped the bid on a player.

“I explained to him why I wanted to up the bid and on the back of that he said, ‘Lets go for it’.”

who do we think the player is ?

answers on a postcard please only
