State of play our own actual players under contract at RUFC who would start in the championship reads Mattock Vaulks Newell Smith possibly Ajayi Williams Purrington. Dom Ball if he stays. Agreed.

Proctor or Smith depending on form I reckon. Wouldn't rule Icky out too much over Ajayi yet and I agree that Purrington, who is a legend around these parts will start to muscle out Mattock. Palmer could play a part if he hits the gym.
Beauty is our staff believe in developing, not scattergun approach, this shows what good coaches they are and has longevity in it. Even if we were to go down, we'd come back stronger for it. In the past we've had good managers or good coaches, I don't think we've ever had such a complete package in Warney and co. as long as the fans see the longer term picture and keep an ounce of reality. My only fear is, should Warney have 2 good seasons, would he be tempted to go somewhere bigger is they came knocking?
With the 6 released players, Warne is quoted as saying:
""In some cases there may still be a future at Rotherham going forward,". "We are still looking into the possibility at this stage."
does this mean they are still under contract and we have to pay their wages if they don't leave ???
It's Warney trying to cushion the blow to some of the younger players. When there contracts end most likely in July this year they cease to be payed by our club.
