I kind of get the Dom Ball thing. We have been weak at centre back and on the face of it we have one who was schooled at Tottenham and played for Rangers.
The only problem for me is that he couldn't make it at Tottenham and hardly played there, and his time at Rangers was when they were below the Scottish Premier League, so really a very poor standard of competition. My opinion was that when he played for us he was unimpressive. His loan spell at Peterborough didn't go well, and he has only made 9 appearances for Aberdeen this season (mostly an unused sub) in a poor league.
There are rumours about his attitude but I am not reading anything into that. I just don't think he has shown anything to suggest that he really has what it takes. Having said that, if he isn't going to upset the apple cart I have no issue with us having another look at him. Realistically though, the current management team didn't fancy him as a League One player even when we were short in his preferred position, so I can't see that changing now we have stepped up a division.
As for Wiles, he hasn't played a competitive game for us yet. The step up from reserve team football to The Championship is a huge one. There are noises about him having a lot of promise. For me it is a case of being patient with him, trusting the management to handle him properly, and lets see how he goes. You could break a potentially good career by throwing him in before he is ready.
Whatever happened to revolving doors? I'm so used to working with revolving doors. They may be so yesterday but they add a je ne sais quoi to the front entrance of a building.
