Paul Hurst reckons the game will not be a classic. That doesn't sound very encouraging at all, Paul. Just one goal to settle the match perhaps? At the same time little information has been coming from the Millers camp. TS has given a few interviews to the press whilst the owner of Shrewsbury appears more upbeat and even mentions the rewards associated with winning the play off final. Something to the tune of seven million pounds has been mooted.
I don't want to be the wet blanket but I get the feeling that Shrewsbury are about to break their duck at Wembley.
The weather may have a major part in the outcome as we like to play with what is known in basketball as a 'full court press', I think 25-27 degrees may make that a little hard to maintain?
On a positive note, perfect surface, wide, 4 good wingers to choose from and also use from the bench and players in the centre who can control the pace of a game.
Set pieces will be interesting and where the game maybe won or lost?
Perhaps Shrewsbury's chairman should be careful what he wishes for? His revenue night go up by seven million quid but if he wants to stay up if they get there, his cost base might go up by at least that much.
Ask one Mr Stewart.
Not many of Shrewsbury's games are classics. Their supporters think they are a wonderful footballing side but the truth is that they are built on a foundation of a strong defence, hard work and bits of inspiration from a couple of flair players. They aren't free scoring. That isn't a criticism - it is a fact.
We aren't a whole lot different. We perhaps have more goal threats than they do and maybe a stronger bench. Our defence is a bit leakier than theirs.
I think it will probably be a bit of a battle and a very tight game. Extra time wouldn't be a surprise at all. In all honesty I think it is a really tough one to call and a real 50/50 game. In truth although your competitive instinct wants you to win every game, I won't be too unhappy if we lose it as long as we put a reasonable performance in. We have had a good season whatever the outcome on Sunday.
I'm sure the weather may have some bearing on the game. Current forecast very warm with a chance of thundery showers in the capital on Sunday.
You mention the 'full court press'? Mmm. I would think that force, space and time are the concepts you may be alluding to? Force, space and time is what we chess players know full well are crucial and all directly related to one another in a game of chess. Force is greatest when all members of your chess army are working together. Force is about teamwork, pieces working in a coordinated effort.
We can think of space as the number of squares controlled or influenced by our pieces. Football players controlling the game and making an impact as soon as is possible when conditions allow.
Time is also referred to as tempo in the game of chess. It's vital that we waste no time or tempo getting our pieces into position, settled and ready to launch an attack. Any wrong moves are costly ( loose or waste passes in football).
Let's hope our team try to stay calm, composed and ready to make that telling pass through the opposition defence.
We're more or less certain to go 4-5-1 to start with. Playing that way there hasn't been many goals since Kieffer Moore left & that's not a criticism of Smith whose been as good a signing as we could have got. Look at our side one of Smith Newell Vaulks Towell could chip in with a goal from open play. Wood Ajayi from set pieces. I've said I'm not fussed with Palmer or don't think we have a right winger who can take pressure off the defence by taking game to them. Our best shot is Mattock & Newell on the left, if they are effective on the day our chances increase of breaking them down. I'm going for us to win, not predicting the score. Our weaknesses might not be as bad as Shrewsbury's cause I can't tell you another player of there's apart from Sadler & Nolan.
Indeed , this whole Wembley saga is but a sad sacrifice ( and thus never ending theatre ) of the working class, and in its turn the working class is sad...yet hysterically real. Without us there would be no entertainment at all.
I must admit its all getting too much for me...I will be floating above the bed clothes from tonight onwards. And hiding underneath them drunk as a lord Sunday night if we lose.
Im 2-0 us and Semi to get one. They aren't anything special and the last time we met i dont remember them making any chances. Come on Hursty isnt going to watch the millers get beat at Wembley now is he? 😁

I was sat next to Hursty when Dagenham beat us. I looked at him with the full force of my sorrow and asked what we could do? He just smiled and shrugged his shoulders and went to get a drink.
We must not become too complacent before Sunday's game. We need to stay focused on what we need to do and not be distracted by any possible fake news stories doing the rounds. Having said that, I do like the odd bizarre story that contains a hint of comedy.
