Really in this day and age. Dunno why all clubs dont have a phone app.

Download free app
Register with name and other useless information
Buy ticket for game....any game
Go to game
Shine phone screen under turnstyle reader
Go get a pie and a pint
Job done

I think this is zero indication of how many would come if we got promoted- its 200 miles away and 4 times the price. If the POF was £25 a pop maximum we would sell 25-30k.

However, I soon realised that in the Family Area there are no concessions for over 60s. I phoned Wembley to see if this was a mistake and got the response 'that's just the way it is' - so you can't have children if you're over 60 according to the Wembley family model. Has anyone told Rod Stewart?

Fed up of ******ing about, I've gone for block 125 - almost directly across from yourself and Smiler. I'll also be wearing a red shirt - hope we don't clash!!

Yes Glenn, unfortunately, we have also got caught out with that one as we have one person over 60 who will have to pay full price.

Just waiting for the trusty postal service to come through now and I will be happy!

I've often wondered why our National Stadium was built in London in the first place? London/Wembley aren't the centre of the universe. When two clubs, Rotherham and Shrewsbury meet in a play off final they should play in a stadium which is easier to reach, for both sets of supporters and teams. Over the years we've been slightly brainwashed into believing that Wembley is the place to host big games just because of its size. Most everything today is way too London centric for me. I've been to every final involving Rotherham United since 1996. My point is that we need to spend our money in the North of England to help our economy. It's our day and not London's day. I'll bet Spurs supporters didn't have to jump through hoops to watch their team on match days.

I suspect that the real reason we have to go to Wembley is to get the FA out of the financial hole that building it put them into. Why did it cost £800 million (£1 billion in today's money) to build a 90,000 capacity stadium while TS spent £20m building 12,000 capacity NYS? You don't need to be Ernie Davidson (RGS 6th Form Maths?) to work out that TS spent his money about five times more wisely than the FA. You might also recall that the FA spent £140 million on unspecified "fees" before anyone started the design or the construction work. And wasn't it a great idea to appoint an Australian company to build it.

As an example of the never ending Wembley profligacy, the judge presiding over the lawsuit following the construction faults wondered why it was necessary for the parties' lawyers to spend over £1 million in photocopying.

The case for building the national stadium in the Midlands was overwhelming. I think the FA site at St George's Park is somewhere near Burton? That makes perfect sense. The cost of land, accessibility to it from all parts of the country, well serviced by the motorway network and other transport links.

I agree with both TL and Wots. The decision to rebuild on the old Wembley site was driven by short sighted financial considerations and London-centricness. It has become a millstone. They may now have to take American money to get them out of a hole.

The stadium itself is tremendous but it is over-used (to help fund the build costs) which does take the glamour away from it, and is far too big to host us v Shrewsbury.

Am I looking forward to going on Sunday? Of course I am. Would I prefer that it was closer and easier to access? Definitely. Would I be happier if we were playing at Villa Park instead of Wembley on Sunday? I think I would.

Some really good observations.

Here is mine. On an ordinary match day and particularly on a more important match day there are always a significant walk up number of punters. Proof enough that people dont always register their details and some humans cant get their **** together to use online or phones. Its as simple as that for a percentage of the populace.

Still time to go yet but our ticket sales have been slow and quite poor considering the nature of the game.

Appreciate it's expensive but considering the amount we took against Orient to lose that many casual fans is disappointing.

I think a packed out Villa Park / Old Trafford whatever would be miles better than Wembley.

I also think it is losing its appeal when for us at least we've been twice in relatively quick succession, and Shrews more so.

There is a real case, I completely agree to have something at St.Georges, which is the real home of the FA. The traditional value of Wembley went when for whatever reason they decided to dump the twin towers for that absolutely stupid pointless arch. Transport continues to be a nightmare in and out - I do not want to be 1000's deep waiting to get into Wembley Park on a loser, against D&R that was no fun at all.

London centric totally, but the FA have to continue to recoup the costs for whoever many more years, hence having semi finals there, again stupid and not in the spirit of the game. Get an extra £20m from each PL team per season for the right to play in England and they wouldn't need to do it, what are the PL teams gonna do, moan then move? - yeah right. Hopefully after Brexit the FA will start playing hardball because it's been 25yrs overdue.

i dont people have got fixated with the number of people going

we average 8000 a game in league which is better than a lot of over league one sides

so to get twice that for a wembley visit is good enough for me as it what happens on the pitch is more important

whats is important that some of those extra 7k start coming to the home games

yes thats a good way of looking at it. No matter how many one takes to one off games it doesnt impact on the daily attendance. That attendance is down to consistency and taking care of your customers.

I think Lincoln city took 30,000 when they beat shrews. That is a club with traditional support of 3-4k. Now they have a resurgence back in the league and were flying plus adding to an already steady building project they were getting 9k at home.

so its clear it really doesnt matter about final attendances. Im going to enjoy it thats all I can say.

I completely understand regarding fan's fixation with the attendance at Sunday's game but surely a less than 1/3 full Wembley is going to impact the atmosphere therefore lessening the experience for players & fans alike.
With an expected gate of less than 30k Sunday will surely become known as the "tinpot" play off final but why? All I can put it down to is that a trip to North London & Wemberlee is not as special & "iconic" as it used to be & the extortional ticket prices along with transport to & from the venue with all it's add ons (Food & Drink, memorabilia etc) puts off the less than commited fan.

To be honest, the whole process of purchasing tickets, arranging transport and parking, finding a hotel whilst at the same time worrying about the potential lack of atmosphere due to a relatively low attendance has been a total pain in the backside. If we were heading to Old Trafford or the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, I think I would be much more excited. The problem is, like everything else in football, we are at the beckon call and mercy of the footballing authorities who have nothing more in mind than the bottom line. Fans inconvenience, stinging prices and lack of atmosphere will be issues that will not cause them to lift an eyebrow.

The play-off system, as exciting as it is, is a cash cow for the FA. Fans having to get to S****horpe for a midday kick off and having to travel at great expense to the Capital for the final are just collateral damage I'm afraid.

Don't get me wrong - I'm really looking forward to this weekend. But it really could be better.

A football ground of 40k would have been ideal.

Like everyone says its just the Wembley madness-and it is madness.

It seems to me that so much more can be done to support supporters to have a better experience all round. There is no will and all the power belongs to a bunch of very self important people out of touch with reality and the actual experience of supporting your team.

We can all dream of simply buying through the club, going to a normal ground, not being herded like sheep and treated like criminals and not being totally ripped off...and worst still, people who should know better-like our local club-not really canvassing our feelings or opinion on tickets sales and support.

It seems so obvious to us real supporters but I am sad to say we are controlled by people at some distance from the normal daily grind we go through.

Getting very sardonic now but it really is them and us. Be thankful if you dont meet a complete dick of a steward at wembley.

anyway. Lets all now laugh and say hello to a great day out with friends and family and then when its all done we can get back to our lovely and quite accurately purpose built stadium and when all is said and done a management team and chairman who lead with their hearts.

It is different this time too - we have recently been a championship club so not the hysteria of getting up there anymore.
