Team for home leg against Scunny

No need to panic tomorrow. Ninety minutes is a long time.

I would play:-

Rodak
Emmanuel, Wood, Ihiekwe, Mattock
Williams, Vaulks, Palmer, Newell
Towell
Smith

Plenty of opportunity to throw Taylor or Ball on as the game pans out.

Mattock dives in sometimes but for me is marginally better than Purrington.

Ihiekwe made obvious errors at Scunny but Ajayi has that in him too. Nothing much to choose there. Either or really.

Assuming that Newell is fit he has to play.

Palmer will be ace if he's allowed more time on the ball and further forward, his range of passing is class, we've been using him as a DCM, that's not what he's about.  If it were me I'd put Towell there and let Vaulks and / or Palmer go forward.  If we go up he'll find his feet the in the Championship

Palmer has got to find his feet full stop. Can't keep waiting. He's had his chance.

If all fit playing 4-4-2 playing no one out of position. Lavery up front. Da Ball another one whose lost his way. Liked how Lavery took his goal against Bristol Rovers.

Rodak Emmanuel Ajayi Wood Mattock Williams Vaulks Towell Newell Smith Lavery

yes I too have wanted to see more of Lavery . I can see what Smith is capable of and he is good and one cant argue with his goal return or support play and hold up play.

Its just I want us in the Box a bit more and with more direct threat. I understand Warne has to play the percentages and look for balance so its difficult to sacrifice one of the midfielders for him. Hence he will only be used as a stop gap...but he will probably get the winner at wembley!

Forde should be the first name on the team sheet.

Palmer was again caught too many times....athickwee - well - long term anti fan of this guy - just can't get his feet sorted and his decision making alongside Bambi syndrome has to go....can't see his failings being polished out the flaws are just too deep.

We have to keep Shrewsbury away from our defence - midfielders have to be in the form of their lives.
