while we have played this 4 5 1 formation and lost 1 and drawn recently

i would revert to attacking 4 4 2 and put gillingham on the back foot like they did to us at nys lets get 3 of those 6 points out of the way and the other 3 on saturday

if results go our way and we have 4 th spot confirmed

do we rest key players against plymouth and blackpool or go for the juggler on both

Don't think we should rest too many players. Players need game time. The team plays as a unit. They will also have gelled as a unit. We did really well without Newell last Saturday against a well organised Wigan team. We need to field our strongest team. If we don't and then lose a game, supporters will be up in arms. It's got to be a 4-4-2 to start the game and change it to 4-3-3 if we go a goal up. We need to press high up the pitch and see if the opposition can withstand the pressure.

"do we rest key players against Plymouth and Blackpool or go for the juggler on both".

I would go with 4 4 2 until the end of the season, we may see the 4 5 1 in the Play-Off away leg?

If things carry on and pan out how they are looking at the moment, Millers finishing 4th and Plymouth possibly 5th, I can see both us and Plymouth resting players in the league game?

Play 4-4-2 got to be Vaulks & Towell 2 I'm midfield. Need a holding midfielder but Palmer is one of Warney's boys. But what's Palmer do apart from pass. I never see him tackle or get forward like Vaulks or Towell. Rodak; Emmanuel Ihiewke Wood Purrington; Forde Vaulks Towell Newell; Taylor Smith

"Palmer is one of Warney's boys. But what's Palmer do apart from pass".
They are all Warney's boys, aren't they? As for Palmer's passing have a look at 2nd minute of match at Wigan. Palmer puts a 40 yard pass perfect for Taylor to run on to. Taylor crosses. Williams passes to Smith and only a last ditch clearance prevents a goal.
That's what Palmer can do. That's why he is in the team.

I think after last Sat getitng it outta the way with a point and results going well, we should just go for it now, let the lads attack. Attacking play creating chances and scoring goals breeds confidence. Make no mistake Wigan were inept and dire on Saturday as much to do with their own way they approached the game as us playing 5 in the middle.

Palmer needs freedom to play, he's only little isn't he? - but wow he can pick a pass, look at our first chance the diagonal ball to the channel, we need more of this. But he can only do this with movement in front of him. Others have said he doesn't have that awareness to make those Frecks runs getting him 18-20 yards out getting onto the end of something and finding the net. If he can get coached to add that to his game he'll be one heck of a player. Wingers are gone from the game, that's what full backs are for these days, I think we have to have Vaulks, Towell and Palmer as a 3. They all give something different. It's how we accomodate, Ball, Forde, Williams, Taylor and Newell into that. Ihiekwe was absolutely immense on Saturday and Wood got in where it hurts. There was only a couple of times Grigg split them, he's very good at it and maybe should have buried his 1st half header but aside Iky won a huge amount of contested headers - if he played this way every week he'd be the first name on the teamsheet.

Warney has options, and that's important with the play offs. Last time we won by doing what we'd done all season long, but we were very very good at doing it, percentage football was what Evans drills into his players and we had the player mentality to make that work. We don't have that this time and need the ability to change things up depending on game cir***stances. Warney knows this, and it has come off for us a few times, we've all seen a few times this season when subs and / or shape changes have gained us points. We need to continue doing that. Our ability to put in a curve ball might make the difference in the play offs.

Same as Wigan I'd expect (assuming injuries allow)

Then push for the Home win on Saturday....

I wasn't aware that Plymouth and Blackpool had a juggler and am not clear on how going for him will in any way affect our chances in those games... 😀

Rotherham start with a 4-3-3 formation. Joe Newell on the bench.

Early pressure from Gillingham. Two quick corners for them.

Jake Forster-Caskey - that many say is "lazy" but a class act as a "footballer" pulling the strings for Charlton tonight apparently. Vaulks was rubbish as well last season - amazing how some of the football guru's get it wrong.

Come on Shrewsbury !

Come on Bradford ( 2-1 up at 80 mins )
