Even in his limited english I totally get what he's getting at. The PL and the effects that have trickled down of instant success of the culture of football in this country really is getting more abhorent each season that passes, but they've made this themselves.
It is the greatest money making league in the world, it is not the greatest footballing league in the world. You don't need to go much further than how our clubs are not represented in latter stage Champions League year on year to work that one out.
Is he right though? He mentions the 'heritage', and intimates the heritage is the reality of the last 7 years, the post Fergie years, and not those heady times.
One of the better things about the Premier League is that at least it isn't completely predictable who will win it each year. We have four or five teams who share it around from time to time and have a chance to compete. Not so in the other major European leagues.
Some of what he says in that interview is fair enough. His use of the word 'heritage' is unfortunate and possibly lost in translation somewhere. Of course he has taken the trouble to check the facts so that he can defend himself. He certainly has an ego, and it was an exercise in self-defence/self-promotion.
