The club could do more by providing the unruly element with colouring books and crayons on entry. This could be the start of their education.

Heres an idea……..Why not cover the area between the barrier and the playing area with cargo netting set about 20cm off the ground. Its impossible to run over, making it easier to stop the odd one who might get through and it would be too much trouble to crawl under; the celebrations would be over and the game restarted by the time the culprit emerged off the ground and got to his feet looking like a plonker.

Of course warning notices would have to be placed all round to the effect that RUFC could not be held responsible for any injury or loss from anyone trying to get onto the pitch.

I expect in this day and age where kids are not allowed to play on the streets, play conkers or throw snow balls, there may be legal ramifications to consider, however I view it as a simple and relatively cheap method of stopping mass pitch invasions without the use of the cages used in the 80's that resulted in the Hillsborough horror.

It's a good idea the cargo net, unfortunately access is needed to the pitch in emergency.
