I would think that it would be a fine Hillsborough, but I'm sure that there will be a clause that allows for points deductions for regular/multiple offences.
There's no excuse for it. Everyone knows not to do it. Just in case, for those that can read there are big signs as a reminder. It is embarrassing for the club, risks fines and points deduction, and shows that we do not have adequate measures in place to ensure the safety of players and officials. It is also a criminal offence, so for me the people who came on should be identified, arrested, charged and banned. Unless or until that happens to a few, this will keep happening. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but that is how I see it.

Newell went to that corner, younger fans get excited. Couldn't see them doing any harm to anyone. Vaulks jumped on top of them. When was the last time Roth' fans had anything to cheer. Stopping up under Warnock. Think abit of leeway & common sense here.
Those were exceptional cir***stances Saturday. In all my years of playing and watching football, I have never seen anything quite so dramatic as that. The 'people' that went onto the pitch were only on there for around 45 seconds, stayed in the corner area as far away from the opposition fans as possible and left the field of play when asked to.
I do agree no one should go onto the pitch as that is the rule but, not that we knew it at the time, the game was actually over.
I think a 'stern club warning to include 'if it ever happens again etc, etc' is all that should be dished out on this occasion.
Sorry if I am out of step here. There were a good few young adults involved. Its the thin end of the wedge. It has happened lots of times before. The playoff semi against Preston things nearly turned very ugly. It only takes one idiot to take things too far and you get a confrontation with an official or opposition player and it could have horrible consequences. Turn a blind eye and you are just inviting that sort of thing to happen. What is the point of having a law on it and strict rules in force if the general perception is that they will get away with it? I've got zero tolerance on this one.
You're not out of step at all Smiler and have your opinion, and I agree the rules are there for a reason, I just happen to think on this occasion we may get away with it. Yes, you can always say 'what if' but the fact remains nothing did happen. If we get the book thrown at us for this, where does that leave the F.A. should a real problem arise in the future with us or another club?
I think we will get away with a warning and/or a fine. It would be a disgrace if we suffered any more than that, particularly given what other clubs' supporters have done without the clubs being punished severely. I agree with that. Whatever the FA/EFL do however doesn't preclude us from issuing banning orders, nor does it preclude prosections being brought. In fact if anything I would think that the powers-that-be would be inclined to be more lenient with us if they saw that we were taking it seriously.
Lets face it, if we are in a playoff spot or better when our last home game arrives we will have the usual announcements before the game about how seriously going on the pitch will be treated, but with five minutes to go there will be people spilling out over the barriers and advertising boards, there will be the guy on the tannoy wasting his breath, and the ref will be thinking about taking the players off the pitch. And any Miller with half a brain will be worrying about whether or not the idiots doing it might be about to keep us down by default. We all know it, and letting the people from Saturday get a way with it will only make it all the more inevitable.
I was scared to death when I saw the referee gather his team of officials off the pitch.
Initially I thought he was going off the pitch and bringing the teams off due to pitch invasion. At that moment I was so angry that these "look at me fans" then I realised he had blown the final whistle THANK GOODNESS!
Then - relieved at this realisation I thought the ref was leading his officials off the pitch due to their confined poor eyesight - not seeing the battering and holding Smith endured - and the rest!
But how common do we get poor officials that check things like if the ball is over the corner quadrant line before a corner.
Always remember a tory minister of sport ( a realy small guy ) being appalled at football fans going onto the pitch only for a UTUBE going viral of him going frantic when a hockey team won a competition and he lost it completely bouncing g about as he ran onto the field of play acting far worse than anyone did versus Donni.
Holier than thou scenario for me.
Hope everyone gets a Scarborough warning and no worse.
Totally in step with you smiler , this has got to be stamped out , like a lot of other's on this site l remeber pitch invasions from 60s and 70s when they turned into mass battles ,games held up and even abandoned ,to do nothing will not discourage it .
Iff it is not stopped now by clubs and ELF this useless government will put it's oar in and we all know the consequences when that happens.
This is not just a few excited young fans it is a threat to how we watch football

I agree Len. Have a look at the Star article today about Newell and his contract talks. There is a still of Newell with the first pitch invader he met after the penalty. Looks about 20 to me. Some of the others were kids, but plenty were grown men. Perhaps not old enough though to remember the days when we got penned in like animals because some fans behaved like animals. Did you see the Donny fans throwing stuff at stewards and wanting to kick off with them at the end? Man City fans did the same at Wigan after the pitch invaders there wound them up. It is a worrying throw back to the bad old days.
Had a look at the photo this worries me last week we had Aguiero in danger at Wigan now we have player's celebrating with pitch invaders .
Paul Warne ,Newell and the club have got to come out and condemn this action and say it will not be tolerated and that anyone who invades the pitch will face a life ban.
I realise it seems to be over reaction to some but you have to protect the players and officials , if not how long will it be before someone decides to go on the pitch and have a go at the ref or one of the opposition.
i mean how many times do millwall fans get away with their behaviour to name a few
Can't argue with that - if the FA/EFL wanted to do something stern, surely Millwall would already be extinct.
Maybe some of that netting stuff at the front would help, just when we have derbies or important games like playoffs... then the stewards would only need to concentrate on the areas without the netting, like in the corners...
I was at S****horpe where fans went over barriers and at Shrewsbury where they tried (our fans). We'll just get the cages again or some modern equivalent. Bloody morons.
