Rovers&Shrews no games in hand now.

It's a level playing field after Shrewsbury played tonight and dropped two points. With still lots of points to play for, we have every chance of closing the gap.Wigan are the best side we have played, having said that, we were not playing well at that time but they will finish top.I am not convinced Blackburn are the real deal and Shrewsbury seem to be now vulnerable,we are improving by the week.Come on you mighty Millers.

yep its all to play for and wigan will have all those games in hand one after the other to catch. which will lead to fatigue and injuries.

so I think if keep on as we are top 2 is a defo possibility

I think we will catch Shrewsbury and finish third, but I think Wigan will finish top with Blackburn second. That in itself will be an amazing feat for us this year!

We aren't anywhere near safe in the playoff places by the way.

What I think Warney will be aiming to do is to get another dozen points as quickly as posssible to cement a playoff place. Third or sixth makes no difference. Once we are safe in the top six we have a free hit at the top two, and then we become really dangerous.

Our away games look really difficult. Home form (which is letting Shrewsbury down) is key. We need big support and strong form at home, starting this Saturday.

It is hard not to get too carried away at the moment. The next 6 games see us play (as of today) teams that are presently between 11th and 24th in the league.

I agree with you Smiler that the away games will be more difficult, not only for the obvious reasons. For me, the biggest problem the lads face is the condition of the various playing surfaces. At home, NYS is a billiard table, which suits our football style (now passes are 30 feet lower than they were earlier in the season!) but away, the surface quality seems to vary immensely. With the ball carrying players we presently have in the squad, the better the surface, the better we play.

Correct Smiler - but I think we've safely avoided the drop! biggrin

5 wins out of the 6 home games left should see us in the play-offs. Our away games in March don't look easy. April's away games look decidedly uneasy. Play-offs best way of going up if you want to make money. Even if you fail in the final still made the same money. Though automatic promotion gives a quite a few million higher budget for next season but will that even be enough. Going to need some team strengthening for the championship if we get there.

Just about Glenn!  Being a pessimist by nature, I'm starting to think about the drop next year!

I'm doing my bit tomorrow taking a mate of mine who used to go to Millmoor regularly but hasn't been to NYS yet.  A full house and home might get him re-engaged.

I really think the supporters make a difference at times like these.  A flying start out of the traps tomorrow and I think Donny will find it hard to contain us.

Your mate might be a tad disappointed at the crowd if you take him tomorrow? biggrin

Agree though, that the crowd can, and do, have a massive impact.

I thought it was just me that did that Smiler, at least I'm not alone.

I'm also really looking forward to this game. I think our performance at their place was quite poor, I know we got the last minute equalizer that seemed to gloss over the performance for many people but, the game itself was dire.
Hopefully Saturday, will be a huge improvement.

The crowd do make an enormous difference to the way the team play. It's noticeable at away games that the players get a real boost when the supporters get behind them. At NYS there's a general quiet nervousness that goes around the ground - probably a result of last season's battle scars. However, when we've had close to a full house, the noise level can rise significantly and if we get an early goal, I hope we can keep up the support right to the end against Doncaster.
