Good call NY.....as for what do I want - well that's long gone. The hope of building a strong club that can attract quality young players into our academy. We don't have the infrastructure or ( more importantly ) the personnel required.
I just think we're back to square one and the three year "project" days are no more. We're just a club who lacks the finance or imagination to think big.
I hope that this "rebuilding" is just phase two of the failed original project. Just another way of getting to the promised land that is - for us - the championship.

Wow what do you want ?
Why are we NOT a strong club ? Can you tell me of any local young lads we have not attracted ?
whats this amazing infrastructure we need to build ?
who are the magic personnel we are missing ? “ names please “
How are we back to square one ? Did we get four wins on the trot previously ?
We don’t lack imagination ! We are realists not dreamers, we live within our means,do you know any investors willing to sink Billions in to the club, any one can think big Anton Johnson for example, spending other people’s money !
Who do you compare us too of a similar size that are the role model we should be copying ?
It takes some considerable effort to be as pesamistic as you are at this time !!! -- Edited by Bornamiller on Sunday 11th of February 2018 09:20:58 PM
Some really positive stuff here. Obviously a couple just point blank refuse to enjoy a slice of the humble pie on offer, it happens!!
What I find interesting is this meagre budget nonsense, no one outside of the club can know for certain but PW is not working on a meagre budget, it will be a top 6 to 8 budget for this league.
I think Warney is doing a fantastic job and deserves all the plaudits he's getting. He's doing a lot better than "okay" as BM puts it, I'd say that's an insult to his achievements. Also you cannot compare this level of football to the level above, the championship is another world altogether, the 5 or 6th most competitive league in Europe. That said all this league 1 is crap this year again, its nonsense, its league 1 for crying out loud, no worse or better than any other year.
Last season was hard for anyone who follows the club and lessons will have to have been learned for our next crack at the championship. That said you have to let things go in life, this here and now is fantastic, enjoy it and more importantly, give Warney, the players and chairman some credit, they between them have put the smiles back on Millers fans faces, well most of em anyway.
This thread is humble pie for PW and us doubters are shovelling it in. It's not about TS as we still have all the same issues around training grounds, budgets, development of NYS and if we do go up they will all resurface. PW was a cheap option and fall guy who through self belief and hard work has simply refused to be thrown under the bus like a number of his predecessors. I'm pleased for the kid and hopefully we are paying him right or he'll be at Barnsley before we know it! 😁
I wasn't sure about Warne at all, but he has done well and he deserves credit. Comments about waiting until we are in the championship are silly, we are not in the championship we are in league 1 and we are doing well. People say it is a week leak but there are clubs in this league with huge investments including Oxford, Portsmouth, Wigan, Blackburn, Peterborough, Southend we are doing very well. What I like is the small tight squad and the team spirit that seems to be there. Whatever happens now we have had a decent season .........I decided not to book my holiday for bank holiday weekend in May, you never know
In context the last time we were in this position was by budget busting throwing players at it until it stuck, how many did we have made 1 or 2 appearances then were shipped out to Bury & Oxford. Warney is already a better manager SE ever was & this proves it.
When Mattock went down, all the players went over for a drink and huddled around Warney, he used it as an opportunity to communicate to his players (later stating he wasn't happy with their decision making), that is a real coach at work and using the terminology. Football is just 11 people making 100's of decisions. I didn't see a lot wrong up until that point, but then I'm not privvy to that decision making as part of the overall plan of the game plan Warney wanted to adopt. But individually in particular cir***stances it looked ok, for example when Mattock got forward and fired in that cross low and hard, when Forde scored, Newell deciding when and when not to dribble.
But I come back to the point, all the players surrounded Warney for a little reminder pep talk while Oxford just mulled around looking like lost sheep, that is game management at its best.
Well done Warney & the players - you're really giving us something to be pleased about at the moment that's for sure. Not expecting anything at Shrewsbury but I'm sure the players will give it their best to a man - and as a supporter that's all yuo can ask, right?
Why are we NOT a strong club ? Can you tell me of any local young lads we have not attracted ?
A club "strong enough to stay in the championship. And the lads that would be attracted to a Barnsley or Blades type academy.
whats this amazing infrastructure we need to build ?
See above answer.
who are the magic personnel we are missing ? “ names please “
Premier league level coaches with a sustained and successful CV bringing through top grade players.
How are we back to square one ?
See above answers - we still have other clubs keys players - so we need our own AND we appear ok IN THIS LEAGUE. WHAT DO WE DO IF PROMOTED - WE CAN'T LOAN A TEAM !
Did we get four wins on the trot previously ?
More now but we will still be crushed in the championship. Look at the points gained by the rest of the league. Anyone can beat anyone on their day....some poor defending and even worse attacks.
Happy at the moment though - but we are winning in this league - and I've seen a lot of dross - the championship is the litmus test of a strong team / squad....
Instead of growing our own over a 3 year building plan and bloodied our graduates then we are in a buying scenario and we can't afford it.
